do you understand now? do you get that my comment about the name was in response to the other poster's demand? is it clear that this was an exchange over a specific case?
if you still are puzzled, please do not hesitate to voice your confusion and we can start going over individual words.
Nice condescension, mr. happy pants. If you're replying to a specific user and not the thread, use quote, because these forums no longer put "RE: USERNAME" in the title, and your post was directly after mine.

voting people down on the internet is not something i consider abhorrent

normally, i would reserve the use of the word "abhorrent" for really bad things like, i dunno, genocide or torture, but hey, i guess we've got different priorities

In my experience with vBulletin boards, Rep.. isn't really that big of a deal.

It's kind of like Post Count. Something you'd love to have a bunch of, but even if you don't, it's not that bad. If you get neg rep, oh well. I've had my friends neg rep me for fun.

Though, I heard if you get more than 1000 positive rep, it says you're the equivilent of Chuck Norris..

I'm not talking about voting people down. I'm talking about harassment via negative reputation for no reason other than to hurt someone else. Why?

And yes, to me, hurting other people is abhorrent.

The devs/forum team should change that to CoH/CoV themed titles. :C

I'll have to look for a forum game dedicated to "boosting" negative reputation. If there's not one already, I might just start one.

Everyone is going to have a different "why." Right now, you're giving some people an additional why: because you've just let everyone know how much it bothers you. You've just painted a giant target on your back for anyone with "I'm not touching you" syndrome, like the guy I knew who only ate corn nuts only at staff meetings. When none of us reacted to it, he eventually stopped. (Only to start again as soon as he got transfered into a new department.) I'm not saying it's ok to "blame the victim," but you should understand that if you make it attractive for those kinds of people to spend their time pestering you, they will. It's not your fault they do it and you can't control them, but you do have control over your own actions and reactions. I'd urge you to do what you can to prevent being an attractive target for this kind of behavior and you will likely find that most of it stops.

Some kinds of harrassment need to be reported. Others are better just being ignored. This is the kind that is better off being ignored. No one's physically harming you and you have listed very few examples of it happening, so it doesn't seem like it's an ongoing issue or burdon. I'm sorry your feelings are hurt, but that happens sometimes. Learning to cope with that is a useful life skill and one you may want to get started on, because I've yet to see signs that the ******** are dropping off the internet.

Hmmm...
But, Lower the Rep is Two! Two! Two games in one!

You can participate by posting in it... or by giving people there negative reputation.

The game is what you make of it. Think of it as the ShamWoW! of forum games.

abhorrent? seriously? Talk yourself down from the ledge, you're really overstating the matter.

Main Entry: ab·hor·rent
Pronunciation: \-ənt\
Function: adjective
Etymology: Latin abhorrent-, abhorrens, present participle of abhorrēre
Date: 1599
1 a archaic : strongly opposed b : feeling or showing abhorrence
2 : not agreeable : contrary <a notion abhorrent to their philosophy>
3 : being so repugnant as to stir up positive antagonism <acts abhorrent to every right-minded person>

— ab·hor·rent·ly adverb

See definition number 2. And thank you, MissInformed, for the very -informed- response

I think the use of abhorrent in this case is justified. If Sungryphon is against something, which has been proven in this case, then to Sungryphon the behavior is abhorrent.

I'll cut to the chase, especially since I could give two spits (-p +h ) about my reputation. Don't be a D-bag. It's plain and frickin' simple. Look, just because you may feel slighted by the cards that life has dealt you and now you have the power to potentially hurt someone's feelings and then target that individual because you don't like their view points, doesn't mean you should walk around the sidewalk burning the feelers off the damn ants.

Some people are more sensitive than others, all that's being said here is don't spam the negative rep simply because you disagree. That's friggin' asinine.

Someone earlier mentioned that a-holes aren't going to drop off the internet, and that person was right. But it's also no reason to perpetuate the issue and act like a flaming jackass.

Feel free to negative rep me, I like being a bad boy. I stand behind my feelings. I personally don't like the whole "reputation" in posts anyways. Makes one more damn thing on this earth a popularity contest. Go on ladies, it's show time.

Biggy out.

Not to sound like a broken record but...ignore it. Life's too short to worry about stuff like that.

Didn't wanna start a new thread for this question. So I'll just throw it here...

Sometimes you get a 'green' rep. Sometimes you get 'red' rep...

But sometimes I get a 'grey' rep in my rep list. What is that? Is it neutral rep? How can you give neutral rep to someone? And what's the point?

there are minimum post count and reputation count variables in vbulletin that the admin can set
if you don't meet them, you leave neutral rep

don't ask me what they're set at here because i have no idea
