This is the day before I move into college.. so put Acton Blake (Level 50 Elec/Elec Dom) down as a definite maybe!
-
I run at LEAST two task forces, EVERY DAY. Less than 30 minutes ago, I was on a full team of 8 of mid 10/low20s doing +4 missions and we were doing work. Teams are out there, you just gotta look!
-
I love the Keyes trial! I ran it a bunch of times when it first came out, for the badges. I was on a blaster, so as you an imagine, our Anti-Anti-Matter run was tedious at best. But our primary concerns were not being killed by the pulses, rather it was controlling our own AoE abilities so as not to kill Anti-Matter. The trial is not friendly to pick-up-groups, in the same sense that not all task forces are conducive to pick-up-groups. I don't view Keyes in the same vein as BAF or Lambda. While those trials seem to be designed for repetition where as the Keyes trial seems to be more suited to be run occasionally, for the challenge and experience of running it or for the badges. I agree with the dev's decision to increase the reward.
Keyes, in my experience, is the only trial where failure is common. BAF and Lambda nowadays are run so often that most players can complete it perfectly without instruction. I would like to see it remain the same, so that it is still as challenging as it is today. -
I WAS going to run all the villain TFs repeatedly to show redside some love.
Then I looked at the dates for DXP and realized I'm going to be away on vacation instead. I will now not do any of these things. -
While I sympathize (Trials can be pretty bad with lag sometimes), remember that the Incarnate program is VERY incomplete. Half of the powers are unreleased, many of the current Incarnate powers will be changed or have new abilities added to them and there are new NPCs in the works (like the new Astral/Emp Merit vendors in i20.5). The ways to get incarnate powers have changed quite rapidly since the system began. On top of that, there will be many new trials as the program develops, so soon it won't be the same 2 over and over. Also, with the Praetorian Surge stress tests complete, hopefully the data will help the devs so the lag across servers will decrease.
-
Um. I don't know how to do that.. I just hit export haha. I think it's the datalink at the beginning of the post. I'll try.

That? -
Long story short, I've filled up my Character slots with pads for my solo sg, leaving me with only one space left. I'm hoping to fill that space with my one and only villain, which I'd like to make a Crab.
Let me know what you all think? I realize that this build is awfully expensive, haha. I want to have a ton of AoE's, and I'm not entirely concerned with pets. I'd like to be pretty sturdy too.

What do you all think? I could use the advice, never built a Crab before. :c -
Don't forget, the Radial tree of Clarion boosts your secondary effects in addition to status protection. That means your heals, stuns, kb, etc etc are all stronger during the effects of the buff. I have it on my Energy/Energy blaster and it compliments my stuns in Bone Breaker and Total Focus quite nicely.
Also, with Rebirth, there are already SO many powers that max out regen so I figured Clarion would be a better bet. Also if you have problems with endurance, get Geas of the Kind Ones.. it makes out your end recovery and boosts recharge, woo! -
Personally, I worry more about all archetypes devolving into one-man-does-it-all style. (Hur durr, everyone now has powers stronger than a blaster T9 with no end crash and a faster recharge!)
However, I reserve my judgement of the Incarnate system, the raids, the powers, et cetera until it is done. We've seen half of the powers, and what I am made to believe is but a tiny portion of the Incarnate content we will eventually have.
Also, I've gotten 10+ shards on a single Imperious TF alone. If you're taking weeks to gather your shards and incarnate components on non trial content.. you're either doing it wrong or the drop generator hates you a lot. -
Character Name: Xegreny
Level 50 Blaster
Energy Blast & Energy Manipulation
Greatest Achievement: 850 Badges Earned
For many players, City of Heroes is a casual game that provides hours of endless content and in-depth optional systems such as Inventions and the newly unveiled Incarnates. For me, this tagline was certainly true. I created my first character, a blaster, in 2006. My costume was hideous and my biography was poorly written at best. Thankfully, both have improved with time, but those memories have not been forgotten. My fondest memories were the days I spent exploring. My missions were either not interesting, or too difficult to complete alone. Instead I prioritized history and friends over influence and experience points. As you can imagine, I discovered badges quickly. Do you remember when you were young and toiled for hours in your single player game to unlock that one meaningless achievement? I certainly do. To me, badges were the spiritual successor to my childhood habit of getting that 100%, doing everything just for the fun of saying you did. I spent days, weeks even, combing over each zone for badges at my own pace. I discovered every badge, read every plaque, tagged every villain. Naturally, I reveled in each detail the badges revealed. City of Heroes lore is so expansive; its easy to get lost in it. Badges were not everything, however. I enjoyed just playing in the games environment. Have you ever raced a friend to the top of one of the citys many skyscrapers without using any of your powers? Its possible, I assure you, just land on the window sill! The most magical aspect, in my opinion, is that this game is not only massive, but truly multiplayer. What City of Heroes developers havent thought of, a player has. Each person who logs in brings with them another story, another unique costume, and their own ideas. Some of these ideas have even made their way into official content, or so Im told. I make it a point to read the biography of each player I interact with it, be it teaming or otherwise. Why? Its interesting! Its with the advice, guidance, and encouragement of these fellow players that have elevated me to the place I am today. My costume is no longer hideous (or at least, I think it looks nice!), and my biography has expanded into a real story. My build has achieved some sort of cohesion, and my badge count has soared. That number in my personal info box has evolved from just a number, but rather a meter of my growth as a hero, a character, a player. Two days ago, I earned my 850th badge. While the total number of badges that a character can earn is now far over 1200 in number, this is still a huge achievement for me. I look upon that personal info box with pride and see a challenge. Until I hit that maximum number, theres still more to do. I have more zones to explore, more challenges to complete, more friends to make and more missions to complete. As the city limits of Paragon City, Rhode Island expands, so do the opportunities that each of us have to grow and interact. Heres to having lots of fun, more issues, and lots of badges along the way!
((Total words: 563. Thank you for your consideration!)) -
In short, yes! There's a long story which I won't tell to the entire public on the forums because they would find it awfully boring. I really need to change my forum name though.. I missed the chance at forum mitigation, I don't even use this character name anymore.
-
Ugh.. only 600 words?
Anyway, is there a specific style of story we should be writing from (retrospective, or from the character's point of view, etc etc)? -
I'm furious with myself for missing this event/not participating as an Auctionee. Maybe next time. Fantastic idea however, PERC!
-
I've found Chain Fences to be useful, and I'm level 10. Hit a mob with chain fences, hover above them with Conductive Aura and sap their endurance and zap them while they're stuck. Unfortunately I'm getting to that point where you have to grab a zillion pool powers (travels/stamina). I'll pick up Havoc Punch asap though.
Aaand if those resistance/defense enhancements do NOT affect me, i'll certainly be taking out the slots from those powers to enhance one of my secondary attacks.
EDIT: After playing with the build and advice you all gave me I've come up with this. My defenses are significantly lower, however I've now got Perma-Dom (eliminating the need for Psionic Mastery) and switched to Ice Mastery for Sleet/Frozen Rain.

Alright, I decided to roll my first ever Dominator for GR and picked Elec/Elec since it was the new set. I'm enjoying myself so far so I decided to map out my build, and would appreciate any advice anyone could offer.
Slotting this was very stressful.. I couldn't pick which powers to 6 slot. And I left jolting chain at 3 because using the KB sets ruins the Knock Down aspect.

Forgive me if I'm not understanding as I've never used the pet sets before/pets in general. With Soverign Right, I can get a 10% bonus to all of my resistances after my toggles/set bonuses? Mids is telling me that right now I'm at 35% S/L and 31% Psi. So with that IO I would have 45% S/L and 41% Psi putting me at the soft cap and pretty close to the psi cap? -
Xegreny - Level 50 Nrg/Nrg Blaster w/ Shivians (and nukes if I can get them.)
Put me on the maybe attending list. I'm getting my wisdom teeth out that morning and I may or may not be incapable of playing. -

I realize this is very last minute, but I'll bring Taxibot REBIRTH! I doubt you'll see this message in time so I'll just meet you guys near the Woodsman at 1.

Quote:No, it's a desktop. I didn't actually check the machine, but Inspiron sounded right..Any card that can run CoX in UM will have zero problem with TF2 (it's quite reasonable on the graphics) and should be quite good with Aion (ugh, grind fest extreme!).
Edit: Wait a second, I'm pretty sure Inspirons are only laptops... if your machine is a laptop, it's EXTREMELY unlikely you could change/upgrade your graphics.
Edit 2: So there's Inspiron desktops now? Ugh... I had enough of Inspirons with the pile of crap known only as the 5150...
And don't tell me that Aion's a grindfest.. I just dropped forty bucks on it because it looked cool.. heh. But yeah, CoX usually causes the chipset to overheat in 10 to 20 minutes while TF2 only crashes it after hours of play.
Quote:RadeonHD 5750's can be hard for around $130. -
Now, for those of you who frequent this board you might recognize me from a thread I posted a few weeks earlier due to constant PC failure when trying to run CoH. Since then, I've solved the problem. However the general consensus was that my graphical chipset was overheating, while the computer itself was not. This was because I had in my new computer not a graphics card but a chipset.
So, I've saved up some money (being 17 and not having a job and all..) and was wondering, what in your reccomendation is the best video card to buy? I'm hoping to find one that will allow me to play City of Heroes/Villians in Ultra Mode, as well as play other games such as Team Fortress 2 and Aion without overheating and shutdown problems. I'm looking to spend between 50 to 150 dollars. Any advice here would be really appreciated.. since I don't know much/if anything about computer hardware.
The computer is a brand-new Dell Inspiron (I want to say 5560 series or something like that) if that matters. I tried plugging my video card from my old computer in and it didn't physically fit... -
Firstly, sorry for the super long first post.. I don't really know what I'm doing with Mids, lol.
Also, I generally three slot my travel powers for the 3 IO sets, because, if I remember right, they provide +regen and mez resist. Of course, I'm willing to alter that, as both Speed Boost and Inertial Reduction are primarily ally buffs. I don't get help from the effects of these IOs so changing it isn't too big of a deal.
I built this character after my Blaster, so I suppose I should work more on catering to a different AT's needs.
I've seen a lot of things in the other builds that I liked, but there were some other things I kinda didn't like (Why didn't you take Dual Wield..?) so I'll work on combining them to offer the kind of powers I want while maintaining the S/L cap. -
Right now I've got a low level DP/Kin Corr. Not knowing much about corrs I wanted to plan out everything before I went and screwed something up.
Here's a build I threw together in Mids, feel free to tell me what you would change.

As for the laptop I updated it's ATI Raedon drivers if that's what you meant.. because I have NO idea what OpenGL is supposed to mean.
For my desktop Everest Home Diagnostic reported temperatures of 30 degrees celsius while idle and some other device in my computer at 38 degrees. I have no idea what it is, as it's named as some huge serial number, but if I had to guess it's my graphics chipset. I launched CoH and ran around on my blaster and there was no change in temperature and my computer eventually shut down again with no warning. As I mentioned earlier I'm suspecting a faulty power cord or something related to the way that the machine gets electricity. -
I haven't checked the temperature on the first machine, but I'll download the diagnostic and check that. And I'll find/buy some canned air and blow everything out and see if that helps.
