Beer and wine exist for the exact same two reasons: To get you into an altered state of consciousness or to compliment the flavor of your food

You get to decide which
That old "it's an acquired taste" argument again, huh? I have something for the first time and it tastes horrible, I don't go back and ask for more. You'd probably notice the subtle notes of flavour present in cat poo if you ate it all the time, but it wouldn't make it nice. (I'm guessing here, it maybe tastes fantastic, one of you beer drinkers want to try it and let me know?)

Edit: Cat poo, or Pizza Crunch, take your pick!

@craggy see me on Union for TFs, SFs (please!) or just some good ol fashioned teaming.

Scots fry EVERYTHING, in batter usually.

Pizza, sausages, haggis, Mars bars, beer, each other...

Top it all off with a deep fried Mars bar! If you survive the heart attack your likely to go blind.

Also, Ice cold Corona with a slice of lime... Awesome.

Eew! God no! I have a perfectly normal cholesterol level thanks (a fact that never fails to utterly astound my doctor, given my girth), and I've no desire to see it go up!

My family's chronic history of cholestorol says otherwise

It's not an acquired taste. Your taste buds are just being overly sensitive to the bitter elements. Roll your tongue a little and keep the beer where your sweet and savory sensors are. That's when you'll discover the malty flavors. Tastes like a slightly sweeter and saltier version of liquid bread. Educated taste, not acquired

Be open to new experiences. It doesn't hurt!

To be honest the smell alone turns my stomach. But I am the same with alot of yeasty things. Even mushrooms are repugnent to me. The smell of vinegar is very unpleasent to me too.

My brother-in-law is from Manchester. Aside from the fact that I can never understand a word he says (only partly due to the accent), I know that I can always give him a gift of mushy peas (I live near Seattle and there's a shop called The British Pantry in Redmond WA that always has it). He never gets tired of that stuff, and you won't find it in an American grocery. Probably for a good reason... >.>

I'm surprised no one's yet pointed out that the guy saying he'd "never heard anyone say they'd really fancy some mushy peas" is from WALES where they barely even eat fish and chips let alone mushy peas and often despise everything to do with England We all know what mushy peas would be replaced with in the "i'd really fancy some <>" sentence

Wow, I need to start hanging out in these forums. Bangers and mash, love it. The rest of the foods you are discussing I have no idea about. Time to Google a whole new world of food. Though fried pizza sounds astounding. Now, take some of this Arizona heat away (it was a cool 45.5c today) and trade me some of these food stuffs you are discussing and I will be a happy old man.
