Well we all leave sooner or later. Im only glad I left CoX and Defiant long before it tunred into the skeleton crew Im led to beleive. But I am glad I opened up a US account breifly as I get chance to bid you Fare Thee Well Omega.
Its quite incredible really. You being the last core member of OotCS to go. I can remember when you, my old outfit The Contigentcy, Awfully Nice Chaps, The Lost Warriors, Paragon Defenders and the Femme Fatales all had a huge active presence. Ill wager the entire member list of those groups totals is equal to defiants entire population at peak now. Ah really brings it home doest it?
But I digress, that era long went before I left. I salute you Omega, someone I had the pleasure of playing with myself a good few times and last of the core members of the Swords. All the best. My sub for my US account also runs out in a matter of days so Ill be off again too. -
Quote:I really wouldnt think Baseball comapres to football. Not at all. the pace is much quicker and alot more athleticism is involved. Not to mention there is much less brwak in play. As for scores being a reason to judge it I have been to a few games with little goals and even 0-0 draws and left very entertained. If there are high scores in a game the fact remains the defence was shocking and golakeeper to the curse.the addoration of "billions" is in no way a selling point. that many people liking one thing usually means it's utter garbage
you silly europeans and your love for soccer, i will never understand. you couldn't pay me to watch something that could last 3 hours and end up with a score of 1 to 0, utter garbagebut in all fairness, that makes soccer rank right up there with baseball as a gauranteed nap inducer.

Quote:I was a defiant player. And I opposed a server merge for the same reasons. So what if I regarded my character names as precious.I would if they put the transfer back up.
Im sick of the european server emptyness.
I really, really wished they would merge defiant and union that would solve defiants teaming issues and a transfer to the american servers maybe wouldnt even be needed anymore, to bad some union players are against this as they are afraid to loose there "precious names and/or global tags".
Of course they, being from Union, have no teaming problems. -
Yes I think you did. And maybe true of your previous post too. I was saying those who subscribe to that myth are ignorant. In other words the ignorant "macho" hetro men.
-
Quote:I seem to have completely missed something here. How has the US servers won this? What in terms of content does US servers have EU doesnt?AE ftw, big time!
Finaly EU came to the moment, when devs just have to see they failed. US got everything, TF's, normal missions, sewer, trials, u name it.. they got it.
I AE farm, and i'm proud of it. Why? To get the goodies, u need the dope. AE provide me SO's for lvling (FREE!!), recipes to sell or use, self chosen mobs, all in 1 nice building. And if my teammate in Steel? No worry, he just enter the same green thingie in Steel, he joins my mission. I use the AH to transfer the inf to US side, where i slot out my new characters to the max.
Defiant, /sea gave 67 villains, i noticed at least 20 'RMTs', 47 villains at 10pm? A joke. -
I think you know after reading my posts what I meant. But Ill clarify. I find it comic that even though as a hetrosexual man myself there is this false myth many so called macho hetro men have that all gays are compelled to bugger every man in sight. Id think anyone ignorant enough to think that would probably be the least attractive and least likely candidate even if they were promiscous.
But saying that maybe I ought not to find it so amusing. It is born of ignorance after all and there is nothing funny about that in essence -
Im an old Eu player who quit 3 years ago and opened a new US account with the help of a trial account and the purchase of an online copy of the US code. Only here until sub runs out to play with some online community friends I met for another game.
It is unfortunate we cant move characters, inf and enhancements. Belive it or not Lodestar left totally minted with inf even though I gave out millions and 3 HOs before I left. Ironic when you think on it. I could have sold those Hamis now and used the inf I had to buy the ones I was after.
As for the quality of US community I have to say I have had no issues really. I met some very friendly people for the most part. Mind alot of them have noticed my team search has "Rusty old playing looking to get back into game TFs very welcome" and have asked how long I been away. Maybe telling them been here since I4 is enough to keep them quiet. But as I say seems fine as far as community goes on Virtue server. -
Well me Im probaly trying to live the hey days post I6 and I7 when I finally left.
I have meyself come back after a long abscence to play with new friends on US servers while another game comes out and I have already cancelled my sub. So yes I am goin middle of this month too.
I have not touched the AE stuff Im not even sure what it is but all I keep hearing is that people rinse it to death to lvl as well as sewer missions. This is all new to me.
For myself back when I joined just post I4 it was all about exploration and content. And so I got pretty kiffed hwne I saw what I felt was little content released in many of those issues during my time. So naturally the first thing on my agenda after coming back is leveling the old way and taking exception to the new content missions. Seeing as how that was my priotity years ago you can see why I am focusing on adventuring. I have even done missions and tfs with xp turned off so I can make sure I dont miss out.
I was quite a fast leveller back then but even so I restarted 3 mids 20 characters inclusing my main because I didnt want to miss story or content. I also notice we get merit for doing content so if you go slow you get badges, merit and a good time to settle in and know your character and build. But this is my prefered way and I dont feel it is right or wrong. -
Quote:Really? Because if you look at all my posts that is exactly what I said. If the intent is meant as offensuve then absoloutely that person or persons are ebing deliberately inflamatory. Im really not sure why you think I said otherwise. Excpet of course in the event you didnt read my full post properly and took the part you chose to pick as "at fault" and dare I say it "out of context". And the latter part of this quite seems to add weight to that....Yeah...we are not going to see eye to eye on this at all. I mean any person can choose whether or not to be offended by any manner of derogatory terms, but that does not make them unoffensive. And I think I hold people to higher standard than you do.
I mean you hold people to a higher standard than me? Do you really? Please do tell how you came by this decision. It sure wasnt based on personal experianece with me. I think you pass judegemtn on people more than me and that line merely adds evidence to that. -

Quote:I really dont mean to belittle your point at all and while I of all people am a big beleiver in accepting ones responsibility I think the door swings both ways. I agree it could be irrisponsible to use a word without knowing its true meaning. But I also beleive it is for others to choose not to be offended also. In other words it gets us nowhere by attacking everyone insisting they should change.Just because the person using the term does not realize the origin of the term does not mean the term is suddenly inoffensive. Consider for example the term "gypped".
I beleive these things are a valuable oppertunity for us all to learn and evolve. On one part to be more aware and educate oneself as to true meanings, also I acceppt your point on majority rules being unfair when said majority have little empathy with anyone in a given demographic. But on the other part it means for some to be more understanding and yes forgiving. -
Quote:I think that is about the size of it. More to the point Im sure Kali will view this as proving their point but I really dont see how disagreeing with LGBT groups by defination makes the anti homosexual. Many have simply given their views in the same way as my old friend Wolfsbaine here.Well, all I can assume Kali, is that when some people were at school they never witnessed, or more to the point, on the recieving end of abuse by bullies that, among many other things, slung around words like "Gay", "***", "****", "Queer", "Sissy", "Bender" et al purely as a means of putting down anyone who didn't fit their idea of masculinity (which as far as I could tell meant picking on the kids less likely to fight back). It is from that playground usage that the new use of this term has evolved, not some completely seperate term with a word just pulled out of thin air. Yes, some people who use it now may not be aware of the why's and where's of the term and it's origin, but that doesn't stop people who were the victims of this sort of bullying remember and have feelings about it.

Quote:I know exactly what you mean. Today hasnt been much better either. Took a shower and then had to run to an apiontment. I wondered why I hadnt done it the other way around. Perople outside Britain really dont appreciate just how opressive the humidity is in this country. Mind that said when looking at certain Asian coutries and tropical areas the thought make me feel all sticky. So I do realise we get it mild in comparison.Roasting I don't mind, and define as anything over 32 deg C.
What I hate is being steamed - it's been only about 25 C this last week, but horrifically humid. I'm not a beanpaste bun. Very glad that the only time I need to think about the Tube at the moment is when trying to explain and promote the fine and ancient game of Mornington Crescent to the colonials, dontcherknow. -
Quote:The name change is in honour of the guy who intorduced and began using Celcius. Me I actually tend to use the celcius instead of farenheight but I am familar with both.At some point the UK Met Office started calling it Celsius instead of Centigrade. I don't know why. Nor do I really care, since I grew up with Fahrenheit, and that's the one I'm personally used to. I'm in a minority in the UK, I expect, actually preferring Fahrenheit to Centigrade/Celsius and Imperial units to that lazy Metric nonsense

Ah the servers on CO are all merged into one with tons of instanced shards. So basically you can have your global friends list and chat to them at any time. Just as you can talk to anyone on Union or Defiant except you dont choose to roll a charcter on a shard. Just make them and you choose your instance once your in game. YOu can even find a friend who is in say the same are as you on a different shard and go meet up with them by leaving and rechoosing.

Quote:*tuts* It was me that started the friendly banter by calling Man U scum. I know we havent chatted in a bit but you know me better than that.Dude, you're just not getting the friendly banter between football fans, here, are you
I don't really think they suck, they wouldn't have been in the Premier League if they sucked, especially after the stonking start to the season they had last year.....but they ain't as good as my team ergo, they suckAnd as for the ragging of the Liverpool fan that is banter I give him too.
Anyway I was actually watching the last friendly today at the KC Stadium and after that performance I dont think they are ready for the season start. Espeically away to Chelsea. But hey I snagged a ticket for that so case of come what may there. -
Quote:Lest be honest. The OP is very likely correct it is down to players opting not to answer. Its odd because now I begun playing after all this time away some old issues have come back and reminded me. One being this very thing. They could have been trial accounts or possible someone multiboxing?
I rememebered basically because someone sent me a tell asking me to join a team. Was tied up but moved quickly as I could to respond when I could about 2 minutes later with a thanks for offer but not right now. I got a reply saying thank you for replying. And it brought back memories long forgotten of getting annoyed trying to get replies from players.
It still goes on but I guess I changed so much now it doesnt get to me. It is my standards to reply when I can whihc is nearly all the time, but not everyone does and while certainly not ideal we just have to accept it or give ourselves headaches trying to change others. -
Quote:Nope. I know a guy from Rochdale who supports Liverpool and I say the same thing to him. Ought to support his local team.Wait, I gotta point out the irony of this statement.....
So, after supporting Man United for 31 years, since I was 5-6 yrs old......that the moment my local team finally manages to get to the Premier League, because I DON'T suddenly start supporting them after never having follwed them AT ALL......that's what makes me a traitorous turncoat??
You're just sore because you support them and they suck
On a serious note if you had told me 5 years ago Hull city would be in the premier league and Leeds would be two leagues below Id have laughed at you. Its all good and well saying they suck. But, for a team that less than 10 years ago was in the bottom of the lowest league in England and facing administration to just last year beating aresnal in their own ground for example its quite something of an acheivement. Yeah unfortunate they took the foot off the gas and stopped to allow themselves to get paniced but at least they did stay up. But I am a loyal supporter and should they go down this season Ill still renew my season pass same as I did before we ever though they would be in the top division. -
Quote:I just hwled with laughter. Not at you but in sympathy with you. Had my own jinxing expereinces myself.O.O
But... it is... it's a free download from vBulletin that you attach as a package, but only an admin can do it...
I know, I admined a vBulletin site. I can't wear a watch for more than a couple of weeks without the battery dying and Hubby moved my pc away from me, on another side of a wall, so he wouldn't have to replace the power supply constantly, I've had entire computer systems crash just because I stood to near them and my eldest kid swears the FioS speed slows down when I get close to the router... and I admined a forum! -
Quote:Why thank you I will. You tunrcoat traitorous scumbag you. Hull are in the Premier league now and you still support the scum? You know what....I freaking LOVE football!!
Ya boo sucks to the miserys who want to decry something that literally billions of people love!
I've joined the league of the OP and I hope more people do, in fact, I hope this thread stays open as a long term thread to talk about the beautiful game
Oh yeah, 31-yr long Man United fan here as well, so there's more fuel for flamage for people to latch on to
Well... you did ask -
Quote:Like I said before. You dont have to be physically different or have a sexual orefence other than hetrosexual. We all likely know different cultures or ethinc origins are another even accents. People can and will point at anything they consider not like them or their ideal of norm. And what it boils down to is no ones pain is below anyone elses. It could be argued severity can be contested. I would argue this is more likely more down to being more widespread and widely known. Ask any kid who has been severely beaten at school because the kids simply didnt like them. Is that not as bad as "gay bashing"?Oh, I'm positive he meant that too. I know Poppy.
Still, BOTH groups are subject to some pretty unpleasant bigotry, yet I've never had anyone stand up for ME and tell the bigots to shut it, quite the opposite in fact (not that I personally need it, you understand). I just think it's really really sad that one group is oft defended, and another is oft ridiculed.
Alot of biogotry is down to certain peoples need to take out thoer unhappiness on others. And so really bigotry may take place in many forms but it is the same train of thinking or beleifs. -
Quote:Now dont take this as fact but as I am unsure and think this ought to be researched. But my brother was telling me a conversation he had with some two of his neighbours in a same sex relationship. They said that "Gay" was a word that homosexuals used to describe themselves for partly reasons already mentioned but also because it is an abbrevation for "Good As You".well, yes, i agree, that would be nice, and it would have been better if the word have never been used to discribe a certain sexual orientation in the first place. but it was, and the people who have been on the receiving end of the negative conotations of the word, be it true or not, will unfortunatly find it hard to forget.
I just find it hard that people in authority can aprove the use of one word with obvious negative connotations based on sexual persuasion, yet condemn others based on negative racial connotation. Kinda, to me at least, gives out the impression that they don't mind about upsetting the LGBT commuity.
It actually sounds plausible at least though we can make connections that arent there. After all before gay peole did use the word queer and remember homosexuality was outlawed. And the word more commonly in use as a descriptive word was queer and bent. Both of which by their defination mean odd or out of place and defective or deviant. So using Gay as saying Im happy as I am and I am as good as you at least would seem to make sense. Is it true? I dont know. -
To each their own. But cricket has nver been my thing. And I know plenty other English to the core guys like myself who dont like it either and nor understand the score. I do know some people who like it though. But it is fair to say its not quite as quintisentially English and as popular as those outside our border may think.
