Positron's Solution to Farming...

Ok, first things first. I'm not a farmer, I just can't bear to try levelling my warshade to a point where it might be interesting.

Keeping this in mind...

I've just announced on broadcast in atlas that I'm looking for a quick xp farm to get a few levels without the agony of spending the next 14 levels as some mutant squid covered in evil candyfloss.

No sooner had I announced this, I got the old Lost Connection to Mapserver message.

Could this be the harsh way Posi is going to deal with farmers?

Did big red letter come up on the screen saying "STOP"?

Sadly not... just the usual LCMS blurb and then a visit to the title screen. I'd be very impressed if it did though.

If its not interesting why play it. I quite happily delete 50s because i never imagine playing them again and have yet to get a tank to 50 as once they are no longer fun they go in the bin.

Some people can view the game as a past time as well as fun so periods of being bored with a character maybe worked through for later periods of good fun. If I deleted a toon in its 20s I may have missed out on great fun in the 40s. Powersets do have level areas in which they are pants and level regions in which they are fun. Gruel time is getting past the bad levels.

I think Warshades can be seriously poor performers in terms of somethings really especially with a lack of conceptual flexibility until very late and then whether or not they're good still ends up needing to be decided.

He will honor his words; he will definitely carry out his actions. What he promises he will fulfill. He does not care about his bodily self, putting his life and death aside to come forward for another's troubled besiegement. He does not boast about his ability, or shamelessly extol his own virtues. - Sima Qian.

As solutions go that's spectacularly elegant, you can even blame it on nemesis.

Because some builds start off rather meh and bloom later on.

Warshades especially take this to ridiculous heights (going past "bloom" somewhere in the 20s and ending up at "dear-sweet-baby-jebus-this-is-fun" in the 30s). But a low level (pre-SO) WS really isn't much fun, especially solo. If the MA had been around when I was grinding my way through the teens by street hunting I'd have jumped at the chance to farm.

Sometimes it's also nice to skip sections of content (like the starting zones or stupid MinerStrike Island) by PLing past it too.

And don't forget the VEATS there like jekyll and hide and can play completely different depending on what powers you have I don't know about any one else but i know i found it disconcerting i was just getting into the toon as a soldier and then i hit 24 and respect to crab it was like a completely different toon and left me lost

??? As a player of a warshade in pre-20 level range I didn't notice anything "meh" about them. Squidform, and later hastened, mired squidform outblasts lowbie blaster, and humanform has Recall, which is useful in teams. And that's without YinOs in the AoE (which boost Rech for the WS. PB can Yin-slot everything and be even more uber for a while.)

(ADD: and if you don't like forms, why bother with Khelds in the first place?)

Personally I found pre-22ish or so on my WS to be meh. And yes I did (and still do) use forms a lot, rarely sticking in human form.

The "meh" could be a result of the fact I knew or guessed how unmeh the levels after 22 or so would be of course

If I could have easily PLed my way through those first 22 levels I'd have done it like a shot. A lot of it could be that I've done the 22 level slog way too many times over the years and for the most part it's dull and tedious, especially if you're soloing chunks of it.

Wait, you mean it gets BETTER, not worse in the 20s? I thought it would be typical 1-10 uber, 10-20, - ok, 20-30 meh, 32-40 OK, 40-50, - uber curve. (at least that's how my 2 highest alts (claws/regen and rad/rad) felt.)

Yes, I know, 22 is SOs, but you usually are a bit short of powers at this point, b/c of Stamina (Rad/Rad) and/or the way powersets are (Claws/Reg, going staminaless. ADD 2: Hmm.. That's why it probably won't apply to khelds, - the only thing they aren't short of is pickable powers, and staminaless builds are viable for them...)

Oh yeah, I mean it starts at "meh" (or "what is all the fuss about?" might be a better phrase) at level 1. At 12 you're a good AOE Blaster but not good at anything else. At 22 it's stupidly good fun and just keeps getting better from then on (well I suppose it plateaus out in the 40s as you don't get too many super new powers but the plateau is so high up and so darn fun you barely notice).

Most of my characters I don't really like the pre-SO levels too much though.

I don't know Carni.

I recall using my WS in the Hollows from level 5-15. It was an Uber dam dealer even at these levels. I vividly remember being in a large team doing Troll cave missions and absolutely decimating mobs very quickly.

This was years ago, when WS's weren't as common and the comments from the rest of the team were along the lines of 'holy [censored]', 'wow!!!' etc.

Good times they were

Ah the Hollows can make you or break you. I got stuck on an Atta Car Crash team stuffed full of red and purple trolls with the usual Car Crash cast of characters : The Cowardly Tank, the Cage Happy Controller, The non-English Speaker who occasionally said something I couldn't understand. Being an AOE Monster was *not* a good thing on that team

It's probably why I ended up fleeing the Hollows and sticking to Faultline instead, eaking out an existance Street Hunting until I got to 22 and could handle most things that came my way on PuG.

The Cowardly Tank

I've seen my fair share of those. There's nothing quite as frustrating as a Tank who stands looking at each mob for 2 minutes before deciding to taunt the targetted AoE equipped mobs whilst standing beside the rest of the team

I remember doing an outdoor Nemesis mission with a tank like that. We learned to run away from the tank, as he stood looking at the mobs. The trouble was he kept trying to stand next to us after he used taunt

Why I so like my rad/rad. He soloed the entire Hollows, (except for CoT trial, of course) Superpeeding through Atta cave and taking on insanely sized spawns around the guards felt so cool...

Rad has a habit of doing that to you alright. My Fire/Rad used to do the same thing, just soloed Hazard Zones instead of soloing missions. A leaky Steampunk Robot his Hero License actually had a stipulation that he was only meant to operate in Hazard Zones, not the more populated ones (waived due to the second Rikti War and the fact I got bored of Hazard Zones in the 30s).
