New Vet Award

Little Black Book

This book contains the Phone numbers of all contacts in the game. You will be able to phone any contact you have been introduced to as soon as you are introduced to them.

Might make a good 45 month award (as there aint one)

Including Brokers / Detectives!

As someone who just got his 45 month Vet Badge and spent 5 minutes trying to figure out what my reward was (Oooh, nothing. Nice!) I'd love this.

Sounds good If you mean it will open up contact's missions you have missed and don't want to do them Ouroboros-style.

Posted

No sorry I meant you don't have to visit them to speak to them and take missions you can ring them. In the same way that after you've done a number of missions for them you don't have to keep going to their location.

Though I do like your suggestion.

Oh you mean a Vet award that opens up contacts globally so that any new toon you roll can ring any contact you feel like to open up their mission arc? (within level obviously). - Hmmm, Not quite sure what that would do to the mission structure and game experience, sounds plausible.

Posted

No what I said was that you could ring any contact you are introduced to.

Thus you couldn't ring Angus McQueen at level 1 as no one introduces him til level 39

Oh I see!, you mean ring them straight away, and not have to do the set number of missions before they trust you with their cell number?... which they do eventually.

Yep thats it

I like this idea. It certainly fits into the sort of non-game-breaking thing that Vet Rewards should be, and makes life a lot easier for heroes... not sure of the advantages to villains, since most of the contacts red-side give out their numbers pdq anyway.

The wisdom of Shadowe: Ghostraptor: The Shadowe is wise ...; FFM: Shadowe is no longer wise. ; Techbot_Alpha: Also, what Shadowe said. It seems he is still somewhat wise ; Bull Throttle: Shadowe was unwise in this instance...; Rock_Powerfist: in this instance Shadowe is wise.; Techbot_Alpha: Shadowe is very wise *nods*; Zortel: *Quotable line about Shadowe being wise goes here.*

Oh right!, /signed then.... although, I believe the marker is at what? 40% of bar for the cellphone number? - I think I'd prefer a landmark Vet award to be rather more sweeping than that. They seem to be getting smaller and less significant with time.

Until you get to the build-busting 60-month travel-pool-power one that is.

It varies with the contact Mumsie. There are some CoV contacts who give it after mish one (that little white bar is very very close to the start)

...and then you've got Faathim the Kind, who gives you his phone number 1 mission from the end (in a 20 or so Mission TF).

/Signed from me, better than nothing for 45 month, and a nice QoL feature

A little bit more useful blue-side than red-side since heroes seem to have serious problems torturing phone numbers out of their contacts, but nevertheless...

If it has
eyes, you can blind it, if it has blood, you can make it bleed, if it has a mouth, you can make it scream.

Faathim the Kind has a telephone? Which enterprising phone company stuck masts in the Shadow Shards?

Well, Portal Corp. began to branch out into other markets once they realised that money didn't really lay in lethal dimension traversing ovals...

I don't know, but they've obviously been eye'ing up the market!

Have to say, this is a great idea for a really useful, but not game breaking, vet reward.

This would certainly help with some of the rottes mid way in CoH. Y'know, the ones where they thought it would be a good idea to bounce you over about ten different zones during an arc? -SIGH-

One contact in Bricks gives you a mission in Kings Row first. Then after traveling there for a talky mission. You travel back to the contact. Then the next mission he gives you is in, guess what? KINGS! It ****** annoying! And thats just 1 example!

Agreed

Oh and for the record, I had previously suggested that when you called someone in Cimerora you had a Roman Herald phase in and run up to your character, stay during the mission selection etc, before running off and phasing out again.
Along with muttered comments if the herald was constantly called.
