Simple question: Which defender would be the best (or would be generally able) to solo AVs=?

my choices would be:

cold/ice
cold/sonic
rad/ice
rad/sonic
storm/ice
storm/sonic

Any suggestions?

I'd think Cold/Sonic from playing my cold def

Rad/Sonic if you want to solo gm's as well.
A perma hasten cold/sonic may be able to do that too.
Storm/sonic also works for avs.

Rad/Sonic or permahastened Storm/Sonic.

How would Rad/Ice fare? I'm thinking the quick-cycling ST attacks might be just the ticket, and the recharge debuff and slow effects seem more pronounced than with Psy.

DON'T eat muffins while I'm developing you.

Pants! Turkey Magnates! A man in a box! Rogue AI! Come one, come all, to arc ID 10107 - It's [i]'Not as long as some other arcs'[/i]!

Level 50 avs have 85% resists to debuffs except -dmg and -res which use their own damage resists to determine how much are applied. I dont think they resist -special at all.
-regen while resisted can put a big dent in their regen due to them having high hp. Think most of them have 28500 (shadow hunter gets something around 56000 with his dull pain)
dunno i'm sure you could solo some av's with the right build. Rad certainly has the right tools for the job.

I've got a rad/sonic for this but as I'm not fully IO'd out to final build I'm still using shivans, heavies, mary etc to avoid too much death.

I've never seen a vid of a Defender soloing an AV, how exactly would it be done?

Any build needs to be able to output enough damage while surviving any incoming damage - any alt that you see soloing AVs have their own methods of deflecting that damage:
Scrappers - capped defence etc
MMs - pets
Controllers - pets

How exactly would a defender do it - is there enough debuff in the primary to mitigate the incoming damage of an AV?

L50s: Tanks: Cryofission - Ice/EM - Dr Celsius - Fire/Ice - Saint George - SD/SS | Controllers: Psichosis - Ill/Kin - Major Chaos - Ill/Stm | Scrappers - Neutron Crusader - DM/SR

Currently Levelling: Angelic Blade - BS/WP Scrapper | Seeds of Destruction - Plant/Kin Controller

Heh, on EU servers pretty much any defender (make it any AT) has to solo anything *erm, I mean, Rad/Sonic...

Perma hastened Cold/Sonic is still my favourite on doing it, but hell its going to be /sonic anyway.

Both dark and Rad can survive AVs and GMs normally, so they should have a fair shot, with Rad having the edge on being more offensive

Dark does have fluffy to spam heals at you, but he doesn't tend to last that long in av fights.

I'd say Storm/Sonic just because it's less common.

@False Fiction - Virtue / Defiant

Current projects - [Glaciologist - Ill/Cold Troller] [Cloudshaper - Storm/Dark Def] [Harald Wartooth - Elec/Psi Domi]

Rad/Sonic build capped for Ranged Defense?
That sounds like illegal amounts of fun!

Thinking Hover, Maneuvers, and a defense-based PPool armor?

Plus... OHH the IO goodness!
Can well imagine, with all the slotting options in that combo, you could neuter pretty much anything.

I'm looking at Mid's, but alternate ideas are always useful.
Does anyone have, or can link to, such a build?
I'll post one if I come up with anything interesting.

Hmm Defenders don't get defense based armor from Patron Pools.

Ok, I'm in the same boat as Donna up there^ I'm horribly stuck on the last 3 powers or so.

44.6% ranged defense.. sounds good enough.
Solo against an AV though,
I'm thinking major endurance problems.

This is what I've come up with so far...

Elec, take the immob and slot it for damage.

I think TRT could be saying Electric Fence, Charged Armour and Powersink by 47. Charged Armour would allow for a Steadfast Prot of 3%def. AVs are easily immobed and kept at range and Powersink is a better +end/time power.

As a defender it'll take me no more than 10 mins to do Bloody Bay (which is very much minus all the sodding about I see most people do.) as Shivs would be good an all. Using Shivs then Power Mastery could be good enough.
