Ok, the answer is probably not a great increase in server numbers, and not on villains at that time of night sorry.
Another problem is that unlike most MMOs where the majority of the missions are based in the main areas, in CoX the majority are based in instances, this means thst each player gets there own private versions of the mission.
Now the good news, thanks to the SK system in CoX you can use the search function to find a team at almost any level and be able to contribute, if you Sidekick and recieve a level boost you'll still earn XP, if you level down you'll recieve your share of XP as Inf.
Your best bet to find a team really is to use the search function and ask about teaming.

why didnt I think of that, on the subject of using the Sk system, most of the people ive seen are at 50 - and tbh no-one wants a low level villian running around with them, even if he is SK
I havnt played ina while and I come to find everywhere is empty =S
In a similar theme, what would the asnwer be for the same question but iwth heroes?
Really I suppose the questions hould be "which server is the most active"

If you're using the "Find" window to search for players then the numbers can be misleading because hidden players aren't listed.
Have you subscribed to the Defiant Events channel? It's a good way to find task forces etc.
Having said all that, the server does quieten down after 10. I guess people have to go to bed!

I'm very happy to have an SK on a team regardless of level, so long as I've got a slot to SK.
I don't have too many problems finding a team on Villains myself, regardless of level so if you see me online, then hit me up. My global's @Riff

This isn't exactly true. Most of those players with 50s on any server either have or will at some point have one or more lower-level alts on their account, and I've been offered spots on many a higher-level PuG myself, almost all of them requiring me to be SKed. I've also had to be SKed quite a bit on non-PuG teams, so the SK system does see use. Lots of use. I can be seen on my L50 hero quite a bit if I can be bothered with him, but seriously... you should see how many non-50 alts I have, at this time, ranging from 1 to 30, and I juggle them a lot more than I log into that 50! o.O

While we are on the subject my union list is getting full so i was wondering if there are any good laid back redside vg's on defiant that has access to porters and stuff?

plain speaking, that would be US server. But in EU, i put my bets on Union, specialy in the later hours i tend to have a party bit more often then on defiant, hero side that is.
On villian side i usualy grab a lower lvl along, my MM can do pretty nice so its more for fighting the boredom of solo and helping out some others with exp 
(i mostly do newspaper anyway - straight forward stuff).

I don't think it would make much of a difference between Defiant and Union to get a villain team going. There are less villains then heroes out there. To make matters worse, villains are very good at soloing so most players are not really in the need to get a team as well.
I suggest you to make a few heroes as well for those moments you are fed up with playing solo.
You know I think I'm going to mix and match like you suggested Spade, keep my villian on Defiant to solo with when im bored and make a hero on Union when I'm in the mood to be social.

Hey all I'm new to forums and thought id ask all you experts to give me an opinion on something.
At the moment I've been focusing heavily on my Villian, who I love - but I'm starting to get annoyed with the lack of other players.
I'm currently on the defiant server and at times I can count the number of players across all maps on my fingers.
I generally play late hours (10PM-1AM GMT) and was looking and moving my main character to the union server.
Will there be more players on that server around those hours? or more players in general would be nice - I'd just like to see some other people once in a while....
