Hello,

I'd like to monitor your connection over a longer period of time.
There is a free trial program called PingPlotter Standard that may be of some use to us in determining the health of your Internet connection. We ask that if you are using a router, hub, or switch, to first disconnect this device and connect directly to your modem before running this utility. In case you have a combined router/modem device, please make sure the router and all firewalls allow Pings from WAN or ICMP Echo Requests. You may have to reboot your modem and/or computer to reestablish your Internet connection.

Why when i used the tool ncsoft supply themselves, am i told to download another one to sort an error that only cropped up this afternoon?

every other game i play is fine, every other aspect of my internets fine.

Im ashamed to admit but ive just been on WoW and there servers are working. Really this isnt on at all.

Because it will help us locate and resolve the problem. The tool I linked to is a first step that may identify an obvious problem. Pingplotter digs deeper should the first tool not show anything.

To be honest ive had enough of it, every issue you get these sort of problems now with server stability, but not being able to connect at all is the final straw.

Another one bites the dust

Nice of you to blame NC, when from what I can see, it's not actually anything to do with them. They're not responsible for all the points your connection goes through between your home and their servers you know.

Like I said earlier, MY connection is perfectly fine. I can log in, disconnect, log in again, all without any delays, as normal. Therefore the problem is highly unlikely to have anything to do with the game servers.

test server works! ;-)
hehe

Yup, same here. Can't connect to the patch server but the test server is working fine, as is the US server.

I think you are wrong, FFM, this looks right a problem at, or very close to, the patch server. Hardware related, rather than software.

I really should do something about this signature.

Same here, and at least two more on the french boards. Thanks for the "Live update" GR!

Just because you can log in doesn't mean it has anything to do with the game servers.

This morning, I had some major lags and rollback problems before login out.
Earlier this afternoon, I was completely unable to log in (can't get past "Connecting #1") but Test Server worked just fine...
Several french players (with several ISPs) got the same updater issue today but no problems with other online games.

So "blaming" NC is maybe inapropriate at the moment, but suspecting them sounds pretty relevant to me.

Chances are far higher that it's a routing issue somewhere near the server centre.

Same ISP != same routing.

Hi all,

The tech people believe they've found the source of the problem and corrected it.

If you are still having trouble connecting, please flush your DNS using "ipconfig/flushdns" at the command prompt (to get here type CMD in the search box on Vista or the run box for XP, both found in the start menu).

I had a quick look at the trace log and was losing 100% at 15 --- 10/ 10 =100% 10/ 10 =100% ae-21-79.car1.Frankfurt1.Level3.net [4.68.23.67]. Looks to be the last link before NCsoft.

To get the flushdns to work on Vista:
1. Create a shortcut to cmd.exe (in the windows/system32 folder).
2. Run this shortcut as administrator.

Otherwise, like I did, you may well get a message saying:
"the requested operation requires elevation"

false dawn it seems, tried to log back in after taking daughter to guides...no luck. even after flushing the dns. worth generating another support ticket?...it looks like my online gaming activities are going to be severely curtailed this weekend as probably everyone's gone home by now.

Optional different route to the same end, for those that find shortcuts scary:

1) Open Vista's start menu
2) Type cmd into the "Start Search" area
3) Hit Ctrl+Shift+Enter

Vista prompts for confirmation, and if you allow it to continue you get an admin-level command box for GR's command.
