Logging out
It's been suggested many times over the years. The reason it does this is for one of security, which seems eminently sensible to me.
@FloatingFatMan
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Seems annoyingly irritating to me.
If you're too dim not to realise when you've logged off properly and when you've just returned to the character selection screen you're probably too stupid to be using computers at all IMO.
I can't see the security point, but I'm sure you know more than me about this. The only thing I'd love to have is a more direct way of switching toons. Even within Menu options, "Server Switch", "Toon Switch", and a waiting screen while CoX changes it; and all this very separated from Logging Out option. Dunno, but like Carnifax says it's annoyingly irritating.

I think the security point is that if someone has hacked in, then once they get to the login screen, they won't know the username/password so logging in and deleting treasured characters isn't possible, unless of course they DO know, which is incredibly stupid, why give away your account name and password?
And so for that, /unsigned.
Oh, and you can cut down some time - 30 seconds to be exact - getting to the login by typing "buy_coh" (no "") in the chat, and clicking "Yes" then taking off the PlayNC store page. I've made a macro for ease of use.
if the issue is security, it's not the problem of function, but the security it self.
in a lot of games, you can log off to your character screen, yet, there security is at top level.
if in COX the security is the problem, then the security of COX is terrible, if not, broken.
What if you just made it a slash command only so people didn't mistakenly click on it in a menu system? Then newer people wouldn't mistake it for a proper log out.
the more things are made idiot proof, along comes a better idiot
I would like something like the /camp command that is present in Tabula Rasa. It takes you to the character select screen , BUT it does have a 10 second delay on it (to prevent insta logging during PvP matches etc)
Now saying that, I often just keep on closing down CoX and restart the game when i choose an incorrect character (its slightly faster if your game loads up pretty fast)
This would be a good time to drop the 30 second delay in logging out when you are in 'safe' areas. They can no longer claim the game doesn't know when you're in a place like the city hall or inside a vault where it's not possible to be fighting.

Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level, then beat you on experience.
Personally I can't see the security problem.

Sorry I am not sure I understand you. Hacked in? You seem to be saying that you need to hack in to get to the login screen. If someone is at the point where they have access to your account because you left it logged into a machine. Then that is your own dumb fault for leaving it logged in. Would you leave your car unlocked and then act surprised if someone took the stereo? There is only so far you can take security before you have to step back and say "look you do something stupid and tough luck".
Spot the guy that has to deal with people going "I left my machine logged in and someone read my emails", or I left a disk on the table and now it isn't there.
That said I can't really see that much of a problem with how it works at present. It is only typing a password and hitting a button.
I think if the devs are not going to budge on the password issue then at least a switch_to option in the menu which will switch toons but prompt for the password would be a good idea.

Kinda same as we have now, would just save 3-4 clicks with the mouse. Not sure i could justify the coding it would need to make me click 3-4 times less every time i switch chars, which maybe is... three times a day? or less.

Not sure it's down to "hacking in" more due to, you log back to character select and decide it's a good time to make a coffee, whilst you are downstairs little brother timmy pops along and deletes all your alts.
So /unsigned from me.
If they had a 'switch characters' button, Id be happy. Just to have it as an option, alongside go to login screen and quit to desktop. Does get a bit annoying having to constantly go through all that.
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

Which is entirely your own fault if you let that happen. I'm sorry but if Devs have implemented this system for cases like this it should be removed immediately.

Bit harsh. Little brothers can be real horrors...-smug-
Leave the Quit, Go to Login options but add a Change character one, maybe?

I don't understand why people make such a fuss over a 60 second delay myself.
I really should do something about this signature.

60 seconds not counting the ton of things that can trawl along. Sometimes the login throws a hissy fit, etc. Also, while I understand preventing using it as an 'Escape Death' button, theres really little other point to it.

Can't say I've ever encountered any problems logging out and back in again, in four years of play. I guess I am just lucky.

Same as Praf about the No problems thing. I generally just hold down Start as I click the Logout option, then let go and browse the forum for 30 seconds (- an hour, depending on subject) or so until I'm back at the login screen.
As for the graphics thing.... *looks around innocently*

Would be possible that, when we log out for choosing another toon we could log out to the server list instead of Username/Password screen? Even, and that would be incredible grrrreat, the possibility of choosing where do you want to log out: Desktop, User/Pass, List of Servers, Same Server where you were. I switch toons often, and I really hate to introduce password again, and choosing server again, when that could be done with just one step...
