ST AV soloing brute
Meh, that's what I meant with theoretical calculations. They look impressive, but if you want to see what is really going on you have to make a real build with real slotted powers and a real attack chain.
Those calculation tables are deceiving, because they do not apply to builds fit for AVs (or any final build for that matter). A maximum of 150% recharge bonus, including slotting for recharge, set boni, recharge IOs and recharge powers? That's not much of a build! Great burst sets skyrocket dps-wise after a certain recharge threshold which is significantly higher than 150% while poor bursters' dps increase roughly proportionally. Fiery Melee for example can have an attack chain consisting of Cremate, Incinerate and Greater Fire Sword alone which generates brutal dps at high fury levels. Try that with only 150% recharge bonus altogether!
If it has eyes, you can blind it, if it has blood, you can make it bleed, if it has a mouth, you can make it scream.

Sergei is a Dm/SR scrapper, are you telling me that Brutes cant do this?
Also Sustained Damage per second, Damage per activation and Endurance per activation are key to soloing avs not burst.
EDIT: Not saying fire cant do it since it also has great dp.
Now, the video fight against Siege is intriguing... looks like SR does provide the necessary boost in recharge. Well, he does take almost 10 minutes to pull it off, but the fact that he succeeded indicates that a brute can do it probably better with full fury and all that.
And please take note that I did not say burst damage was the key to soloing AVs. My point was that great bursters profit more from very high recharge, because great bursters usually have some heavy hitters with high dpa and as my Fiery Melee example shows they can build attack chains full of those heavy hitters, leaving out "filler attacks" completely.
If it has eyes, you can blind it, if it has blood, you can make it bleed, if it has a mouth, you can make it scream.
Using 3 Damage SOs:
- Scrappers attacks deal more damage than Brutes
- With full Fury Brutes deal roughly 20% the Scrappers
- Now apply the Critical Hits.

[/ QUOTE ]I already applied critical hits. Without, a Brute only needs 50 Fury to outDPS a Scrapper. With, it'd be 60%. This is against an AV, of course - it drops lower versus minions since Scrappers only have a 5% crit rate against weak mobs. But that's off the topic.
Scrapper attacks deal exactly the same damage as Brute attacks of the same powerset without applying damage mods (since the shared powersets are muchly the same, aside from Taunt/Provoke, power order, and minor exceptions), but the Scrapper damage mod raises the base damage dealt higher than Brutes (Brutes have a very low damage mod). At zero Fury.
In an extended fight Fury will fluctuate between 80-95% depending on primary powerset and slotting/power choices. And it's not hard to build up that much Fury quickly against an AV, especially as Brutes get +5 Fury generation from attacks dealt versus AVs.
My experience with AV fights showed me that it is possible to keep the Fury bar around 90-100%. I use my main, a SS/Elec.
What's the Critical Strike chance against an AV?
So it's a matter of keeping the dps up, according to the post above. Using Power Sink from my Elec Armor allows me to fight forever. I believe Dark Consumption from Dark Melee could do the trick too, although it has an Accuracy check.
It also eats a fair chunk of endurance when activated and returns less (i think) than power sink so I'm not sure if you could get enuff endurance back to fight indefinitely.
Dark Consumption cost 1 end to activate. Am pretty sure it returns less than power sink though and I think it might be on a longer recharge (not sure what the brutes recharge for PS is but DC is 3 minutes base)

The crit chance against an AV is 10% on most attacks and the 15% chance on most tier-9 attacks and Eviscerate stays the same.
Dark Consumption is on a 180 sec base recharge, costs basically nothing since the cost is really, really small.
It isn't as good as Power Sink, but it's still a good refill and Dark Melee, even having some endredux in attacks, can have trouble running out of endurance. Even more so if you're using IOs or have an endurance managing secondary like /EA, /ElA or /WP.
1 end ? always seems more when i use it or maybe I'm getting it confused with the self heal its been a while since I've played my dark/dark.
Heh well Dark Regen costs 33.8 end, so you could well be. Dark Consumption and Consume are the only powers I can think of with a cost of 1 end

Fire/Willpower is a nice one, Fire has really the best ST target damage output because his lack of secondary effect.
I oriented my brute for soloing AVs with +dam, +HP and +HP regeneration. No Recharge bonus and no hast just a chain of 4 ST attacks.
I never soloed Miss Liberty or of course Infernal but i remember at least Valkyrie, Minx, Megalux and some others, i never used shivans or others temporary powers, only gratifications (+res/def - +acc/rec).
I can soloing the last TF of ouroboros also but with EBs never tried with AVs.
All you need for soloing AVs is high ST target damage output, endurance, Heal or HP regen. Mixed def/res build are also nice because of the possibility to adapt your inspirations stock to the AV you're fighting.
Fire is i think the best primary for that. With a (very) good build Elec, WP or fire can do good secondaries (with the new defense bonus sets elec and fire can have really good defense)

Immobilizes sure help a lot more when i13 landed
For an AV soloing brute I suggest FM/SR. Those are the sets I have on my AV soloing scrapper.

Does SR gives enough defense to survive an AV? I've only played resistance based Brutes so far.
If you splash the INF you can softcap a SR brute reasonably easily without gimping the build.
If you are on a tight budget you may have to make sacrifices.
i got 2 fm/sr brutes softcap builds i´ll post em up as soon as i remember which folder/computer i saved them

there are pretty much hundreds of of ways to achieve soft cap with sr, can be done without weave too if you want medicine
oh and if i had the inf i would go ea or shields
After checking a bit and doing quick calcs for my monster slayer project all but axe and elec has sufficent st dps to pummel avs and heroes. And em is not as horrible as people think thanks to new barrage.

On a scrapper Midnight Grasp is fairly good too, even if just to keep the victim from running off so much. Not sure what effect the activation time has on fury though.
[/ QUOTE ]Midnight Grasp is poor DPS on brutes. The damage isn't as high as the scrapper one and the animation doesn't help it
[/ QUOTE ]Examining the Brute and Scrapper versions in-game through Real Numbers shows that, as with most shared abilities, a Brute will do more damage with MG than a Scrapper.
[/ QUOTE ]
The brute has the potential to do more damage with it, if its kept back and only used on full fury. The rest of the time it will slow your chain and reduce your DPS
[/ QUOTE ]A Brute only needs 60% Fury to do equal DPS to a Scrapper. Building and maintaining over 60% Fury against an AV is easy as pie.
And sure, some Brutes can solo AVs.
