It is sad to see someone go, especially after the PVP thing. (Smells a bit of scapegoat, tbh)

Ok, now I feel obligated to ask, what's everyone's beef with Castle? He's doing what he thinks is best for the game and you have to remember he's only the powers guy. Anything he wants to change will probably be run past Posi and possibly everyone else in some sort of meeting or internal playtest on their own private client. I hardly think he does anything lightly, has responded to players ideas in the past by actually implementing them (- range when taunted and powers decay on re-application in PvP were player ideas AFAIK) and actually making changes where feedback in a constructive form has shown changes he's made to make things worse or not work as intended. Personally I think his planned changes to Invuln, Energy Aura and Dark melee are brilliant and this shows he knows the sets too. he was also man enough to stand up and say he made a misjudgement on the APP/PPP issue and make a change which is more than Cryptic would EVER do. I say good job Castle, long may you continue to be modest and realise when you've made a mistake and be big enough to stand up and admit it.
There seems to be a personal vendetta against him sometimes because of the PvP changes which, IMO, seems to mostly be those people that have farmed and paid a fortune in inf to get the purplies they want so they have an advantage which they think has now been removed. Who wouldn't say no to 40 people in Sirens instead of two groups of 4? The name of the game is FUN people, it's a GAME. Get over yourself and if you think your 'amazing idea' would work go ahead and suggest it. Apply for a job and show them. Write something constructive with well thought out ideas and figures, much like the people that get listened to on the US suggestions board do (I won't complain here about the Eu suggestions board not being looked at more than once a month here, that's another argument).
Oh, erm, yeah, bye Lighthouse, I know the US forums will miss you greatly, over here not so much, but hey, that's what 3,000 miles and 8 hours difference gets for you!

And the way he thinks best is the way some people don't. Tbh IMHO Castle was trying to fix stuff in PvP that was perfectly fine, he didn't focus on the core issues of PvP, that's the beef with him.

The annoying NPCs; the abseoutly useless items you can buy in SC; and, he also spent way too much time on focusing on non-IO builds and now the veteran PvPers are stuck in a big hole.

i think everybody has kinda missed the point just a tiny we bit in here this isnt a lets all jump on castles head thread its suposed to be a farewell thread for lighthouse
and no matter if you like or disslike the changes being made to the game or not derailing a threads within the forums to badmouth somebody on the suport or dev team can only end badly
so on that note shame to see you go lighthouse good luck where ever you end up

And? IOs are OPTIONAL. If he focused on IO builds it would encourage more farming for inf and drops. Which as far as I can tell isn't what the Davs want.

You miss the point Thorny. He buffed the non-IOers, therefore making equal or better than the people who IO'd and now the millions they spent are useless.
I think they want a refund.

Just because someone started an off-topic divergent discussion that is, arguably, classable as a personal attack against staff doesn't mean you have an open invitation to jump on the bandwagon. To say I'm pretty disappointed in the way this thread has turned out would be an understatement. 
I've deleted a bunch of posts, but left most of the discussion from Miss_Chief's post onwards. Mainly because everyone needs to read that post, because it's spot on. Castle is the 'powers guy' and it is his responsibility to look after powers; having said that, however, changes on the scale of the PvP changes made for Issue 13 are changes that go through the entire team and the sign-off on implementation rests with more people than just Castle.
Edit: any further posts in this thread that are not related to Lighthouse's farewell message will be removed.

However, this world we live in is not a static place. If anything, one certainty we have is the knowledge that things change. It is with this in mind that I write you today to say that Im making a change. I have decided to pursue other opportunities outside of NCsoft.
Even having said this, Im still excited to for the future of the City of Heroes franchise. Having been privy to some of the many plans that are in work, know that I will be right there beside you playing and enjoying the fruits of the Development Team and NCsofts hard work. I leave knowing that you are in good hands.
