I'm guessing it's got nothing to do with the rumours, more like he needs a change, as being a Com Mod is not an easy job.. *looks at GR* dealing with the problems that arise on the forums. 
Lighthouse most likely needs a change and 
something else after so long being a Com Mod..
If someone where already considering a change of scene, and then made a serious mistake, it might help them to make up thier mind...

But have seen worse mistakes made....
Sure, much worse, but it was the sort of mistake you would make if the stress of the job was getting to you.

Another valid point and can believe being a Com Mod on the CoX forums 
By all accounts LH was well regarded Stateside and that is a significant positive when dealing with such a diverse community in that role.
All the best for the future Mr LH I hope the change proves to be all to the good for you.

I didn't know or ever interact with Lighthouse but I do know from my interaction with everyone else it has been my pleasure to meet involved with CoX that they are totally passionate about the game.
I'm guessing that sometimes, two massive lumps of passion in headlong collision can result in fallout and, whatever the rights, wrongs, perspectives and speculation, it's sad that it's come to somebody having to go as a result of any internal difference.
Good luck to Lighthouse but let's not burn anyone as a witch just yet k?

Good point, but not necessarily a problem. We can burn her, knowing we've definitely got a proper witch, and do her no harm besides.

As a side note (hope this doesn't go against your ruling GR and sorry if it dose)
The rumore seems to be that Lighthouse has forced to step down because of a post he made on the US forums concerning that fact that the changes being made to PvP aren't aimed at the current PvP community.
I hope this isn't the case as it seem a tad over the top for such a statement considering lighthouse posted again soon afterwords retracting the statement and admitting he was wrong.
