Skipping Mez protection?
Personally I couldnt live without Mez protection (literally) but maybe some poeple have a set theme in mind and it doesnt fit in - although for team play this could be considered selfish lol
Golden-Phoenix - Lvl 50 Fire/Fire Tank
Oodja Nikabolokov - Lvl 50 SS/WP Brute
Baby-Phoenix - Lvl 50 Peacebringer
How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could Chuck Norris?
Probably worried about the -def in Unyealding. I doubt they where an experienced player.
I really should do something about this signature.
I am intrigued, what is this "Mez protection" you speak of? (asks the blaster)

When I first started playing, I didn't take Unyielding, because the description said I'd get hit more.
It took me until level 28 to complete the respec to get it, after some friendly advice from someone on the US servers.
It's possible they were like that. Luckily, post I13 that problem should be solved (minor though it is)

You can probably get away with it at lower levels but I can't see how you could have a lot of fun without some sort of protection in the game at higher levels where virtually everything stuns/sleeps/mezzes. Unless of course the toon was built to be teamed permanently with an empath...
Remember also that not all AT's have an opportunity to take any sort of mez protection power.
For a character that spends its time in melee, Mez protection is fairly useful. I hate being stunned, but then I solo a lot and it's a sure way to end up dead.
Of course, in a team, perhaps your guy was hoping to get protection off a Defender or something...

havent taken it on my ill/rad and never will Constantly fighting high level mobs and i even enjoy fighting malta/carnies who have LOTS of stuns/holds.
Reason? I just dont need it simple as. I have two toggle powers in the form of leadership and my inspiration bar always has a breakfree in it (if not always combine insps), with the amount of debuffs/pets i have out during every fight i just dont see myself getting hit by any sort of attack let alone a mez attack (which are usually the alpha which my decoys take/i emp them first).
So in exchange of getting mez protection iv been able to get more powers that i feel would benefit the team AND me more, and i must say im VERY happy with the results
Of course im of the opinion that controllers job is to prevent the enemy from even attacking so in that respect i could be a bit biased For tanks/scrappers though i would almost certainly take mez protection everytime.
@Damz Find me on the global channel Union Chat. One of the best "chat channels" ingame!
After soloing a corruptor I'm taking a break and levelling a brute and I'm loving the mez protection. Take that circle of thorns boss, you can't stop me now!

Though the OP talks about a brute skipping unyielding. Getting hit more isn't always a bad thing for brutes...

Its the amount of attacks not the amount of hits that matter. Fury builds whether they hit you or miss you so long as they try

I'm always making that mistake... think it's because it feels counterintuitive to me.
If anyone wants me I'll be sat in the corner wearing the hat with the big 'D' on it.
EDIT: Only just realised that when doing missions in low zones it'd make sense for my brute to turn on his aura and sit in the middle of a big spawn of greys (near the mission entrance) in order to start the mission with full fury, health and end.
Like I said, seems counterintuitive to me. I'd laugh at people trying to hit me and failing, but get really mad when they do actually hit me.

Well I guess the Malta group and the Super Aracnids will probably peel him like a grape :P
and also Crey, Longbow, Arachnos, KoA all of whom use some nasty stuns at high level.
Mind of Gaia lvl 50 Defiant's first Mind/Storm 'troller.
Deadly Doc 50 Dark/Dark Corr
and lots more on Pinnacle,Union and Defiant
Hopefully now that a power's statistics can be viewed ingame, it will lead to less new/inexperienced players from picking powers based on those aweful descriptions
I'm seeing quite a few high level players skipping Mez protection. This morning I was teamed with a lvl 35 brute who skipped Unyeilding for example. He would run in and get stunned when the opposition used handclap :P
I'm not really a build facist but I can't see a reason why you would want to spend most of a mission staggering around stunned, knocked on your [censored] or held.
