I think we're getting confused.

There's a big thing that isn't happening which is a bad thing, that it's not happening.

There's a bigger thing that is happening but isn't happening now.

Salt isn't to everyone's tastes so it can't be the announcement of salt being the next big thing. Plus, salt is really quite tiny, so it can't be a big thing. Sure, you could have LOTS of salt but then it would be a BIG pile of small things...
