Question: Your Seven Favourite Powers

Wormhole
Too hilarious to not have, plus if anyone else is there I can happily just make them dissapear into the ocean. Plus can wormhole passing boats or planes to rescue me. Of course, the stun may cause some dangerous plane crash. Maybe just boats - planes for recreational use only.

Smoke Grenade
I am very, very sneaky.

Thunderstrike
Mongy smash - wahhhh! Who's king of the jungle now?

Mind Link
To be the popular and flashy psychic.

Propel
Lets face it - the uses of this power on a desert island are immense. I'm bored - pool table. I'm thirsty - beertaps. I'm casually going insane and need something to talk to - big scary concrete gargoyle. See its wicked. Plus whamming down monkeys from trees with burnt-out cars would be fun.

Nova
Look at the pretty lights - woooooooom! If this island is the one from lost - some polar bear is in for a world of hurt.

Spirit Tree
Because we all know what the green emanations and leaves on this thing REALLY are. If I'm trapped with sun, sea and sand - I'm gonna party. Time to use propel and start building a pub *wooooooooooosh*.... awww man got a dirty urinal already.

Interesting question. I don't have a lot of experience of the different powersets so will only be picking from those that I've seen in action.

1. Telekinetic blast - blasting bad guys off rooftops and cliffs never fails to amuse me.
2. Phantom Army - Incredible power nuff said surely.
3. Teleport - Because I actually want to be able to get where I'm going as opposed to the people who have picked 7 uber powers. And then have to walk there. Fond memories of accidental teleporting into trees before it got a key bind.
4. Psi Lance - why yes i'm an empath defender and yes that was me killing a bad guy - why are you so surprised?
5. Propel - Just funny. And painful.
6. Rain of fire - impressive stuff
7. Accelerate metabolism - buff-tastic.

Just disappointed I couldn't find room for the classics brawl and apprentice charm.

Here is my list of the powers I enjoy using the most.

Near misses were Salt Crystals and Stalagmites; I couldn't seperate them for the last slot. Fortunately I remembered I liked Rise of the Pheonix more and both lost out.

Honorable mentions go to Short Circuit, Animate Stone, Sonic Dispersion and Lightning Cloud... and to be honest an awful lot of other powers.
Why did I even make this list?

Flurry
Waft rules! I love this animation, even if it does feel like you're hitting thin air. This is the only power in the game that feels more appropriate, and I find more enjoyable, when it misses!

Power Thrust
This, on the other hand is a power that always makes me feel like my character has really connected. The animation is simple but ideal and the effect very satisfying. The enjoyabilty of this power is inversely exponential to the level of mob you are using it on!

Levitate/Lift
More fun with flinging mobs! This time the enjoyment is derived from the multitudenous, and bizarre, ways and places in which rag-doll mobs can land.

Telekinesis
Close call between this and Wormhole. The amusement I inexplicably derive from the gentle bobbing motion of the mobs, on their slow inexhorable float away, just edged it for TK in the end.

Team Teleport
Muaahahaha! Baffle your friends and amuse your enemies!
In a fit of subtle irony this power is one of the least team friendly and most requested to be not used by teammates.
To be used sparingly and not without caution, but a lot of fun for me, if not for everyone else!

Rise of the Phoenix (self resurection)
This is the power that makes playing Mephyt* suicidally a valid tactic! I can't think of a better endorsement!

Acid Mortar
This is my favourite power of all. I always bring a spare to an AV battle.

* Mephyt is a leccy/energy/fire blaster. Do not be concerned for her wellbeing, death is simply part of her attack chain. If she dies enough maybe the Crey Industries™ lawsuit** will go away.

In no particular order:

Cosmic Burst
for the sound and animation.

Blaze
a close quarter single target fireball that explodes on impact, sending small flares in every direction...sweet.

Incinerate
touching enemies to set them ablaze...love it.

Total Focus
the animation and sound of this animation really screams... ouch .

Fire Breath
an iconic power from the chaotic nature of fire.

Fallout
turning your friends corpse into a nuclear bomb to seriously hurt and screw up your enemies ? a must have.

Dark Servant
a fluffy creature made of shadows, being of great help...gotta have him.

Since this is a really tight build -- I sure hope we're getting lots of slots to assign to them! -- I don't think these are necessarily my favorite powers in all the game, but I think they're my favoritest that would work together well in a build with only seven powers.

...

Bright Nova (Peacebringer)

Yes, a completely sneaky cheating way to get ranged attacks and a travel power (the squid, she flies!) in one choice :P

Peacebringer Nova rather than Warshade Nova, because I think the light coloured squid looks better than the dark coloured squid, despite the inherent wonderfulness of the colour purple.

Seeds of Confusion (Controller)

It's between this, Terrify (Controller/Dominator), and Fearsome Stare (Defender/Corruptor/Mastermind) for my AoE control as they all recharge real fast and last a long time compared to the AoE Holds (even my beloved EM Pulse and Volcanic Gases just take too long to recharge *weeps piteously*), which I'm going need as I don't like sleeps despite their long duration, and I can't justify taking any +recharge buffing powers, not even AM with all it's other neat stuff too.

Which one to have is a really tough choice.

Terrify does actual direct damage, Fearsome stare has a nice slug of -ToHit, and the graphics and animations for the fear effect are are way cooler than the fairly silly bubbles for confusion. However, confuse is just *so* much fun, especially against the Void and Quantums I'm courting by taking Kheldian powers, so on balance the Seeds it is.

Controller rather than Dominator for the better base duration, and the critical mez chance, as I'm not taking Domination and so won't any get extended effects due to it.

Freezing Rain (defender version)

Def debuff, Res debuff, Recharge Debuff, Slow, Knockdown patch, some damage, and with a recharge short enough that the debuff effects can be made essentially perma against even level foes with 3 recharge SOs. The clear choice for my AoE debuff power slot, since it does so so much. Looks fairly nice too.

Defender version because I'm not sure whether the various versions are different, but if they are then the Defender will get the higher debuff figures.

Dark Servant (defender version)

I can't justify a power slot on a self heal and my other power picks don't give me any -tohit at all, but I'd really really like to have some of both for better survivability as I'm definitely going to be squishy when Eclipse isn't active and I'm all on my lonesome on this desert island. Fluffy has a nice heal and -tohit on absolutely everything he does, making him the obvious pet choice to fill the gap. This is not a problem as I'd probably take him over the other pets a lot of the time anyway, since Fluffy just rules.

Again not sure whether there's any difference between the Defender, Corruptor and Mastermind versions, but if there is the Defender version will have better debuffing, so that one please.

Practiced Brawler (Scrapper/Brute/Stalker)

This gets the pick for mez protection solely because its a clicky. I'd frankly prefer Foresight (Arachnos Widow) because you get some positional defense and Psi resistance as well, despire it's lack of knockback protection, but thats an Auto, and only Clickies carry over into Nova form, and as you may have noticed I'm rather building around Nova form here

I belive all the versions are the same, so it doesn't matter which one.

Eclipse (Warshade)

I considered Hurricane (Defender) or Light Form (Peacebringer) in this slot, but Light Form, just like Elude, takes forever to recharge, has an end crash, rather than just recovery supression, and is incompatible with Bright nova which I'm relying on for all my direct damage attacks. Hurricane is one of the coolest looking powers in the game, and is the equal to pretty much anything as a defensive god mode as long as you can keep your enemies in it's range and you've got it slotted up, but alas it's a toggle. So it has to be Eclipse for the big survivability boosting power with its -- required for Bright Nova -- clicky nature.

Water Spout (Dominator, Captain Mako's PPP)

Last is the obligatory Maximize Chaos/Panic Button/Freak out the Team/Put the hurt on the Elite Boss, Av or Hero since he has -KB, power. I should really take Tornado (Defender/Corruptor/MM) as it's essentially the same but has a much much shorter recharge time. However, Water Spout has the reputation of being just so much better looking its just not funny. So style wins out over substance, and Water Spout it it

...

If I'm allowed ot pick an inherent in addition to the standard powers (I very much doubt it!) I'll have Scrouge (Corruptor) please.

As a court appointed official in the above mentioned case I would remind th defendant that as the case is still in the process of 'private' negotians and hasn't yet entered a 'public' hearing stage that even mentioning the exictence of the case could be interpreted as a breach of faith on the defendants part. While no action will be taken by the court in this matter please be aware that this behaviour might be considered a legitamte point of contention if brought before the court by the accusers in this case.

Oh and as an aside death is no longer considered legitamate grounds to be exempt from a court case after several rather dubious 'heroes' took out massive loans, died and attempted to prove that they where not responsible for the loan as the person who origanly took out the loan was now dead.
The courts now take a very dim view of this sort of behaviour.
*off the record* Yes sorry just doing my job, Crey makes me sick, hope you take him for all he's got

Ice Patch - Makes them flip about like landed fish.
Oil Slick (with Flaming Arrow) - *ticktickticktick* Lots of red numbers.
Instant Healing - Feels like my regen scrapper's uber.
Phantom Army - Lovely invulnerable tanky pets.
Snow Storm - Just play 'Chariots of Fire' when activated.
Telekinetic Blast - So funny in PvP against an unprotected foe.
Zombie Horde - Being able to rename them 'Shaun' and 'Z word' Bbbbbbrrrrrraaaaaaiiiiiiinnnnnnssssss

1) EMP (its lovely watching everyone sway when held, also hefty debuff, love control+debuff powers)
2) Focus (just the best attack in the game period)
3) Disembowel (looks and sounds vicious)
4) Midnight Grasp (lovely damage, nice effects)
5) Thunderstrike (boom, scatter, kill, shock, boom)
6) Howling Twighlight (autohit stun, -regen debuff. Two brilliant uses and a rez as a secondary effect. See 1.)
7) Blizzard (Its nice to have a nuke that you can just stand there after and watch groups fall into slow painful deaths.......... right?)

My 7 favourite powers that I actually play:

Psychic Shockwave (just got it & no slots yet, but still it's great - though Frenzy looks cooler)
Rain of Arrows (my favourite nuke as it's up every 30secs)
Mass Confusion (perfect control, with no aggro)
Terrify (control + damage, in a wide long cone, yum)
Eclipse (best "godmode" power as you can perma it with no crash)
Sunless Mire (I'd have said Fulcrum Shift, but don't personally have a /kin that high)
Water Spout (it's just fun! Though Summon Tarantula brings in the coolest-looking pet)

Actually, to do a second set akin to Alphane's take on the topic:

Caltrops - Useful as a trap to slow down anything you need to hunt on land.
Aimed Shot - Once it's slowed, you need to finish it off quickly. Alternatively, you can try your luck at fishing.
Eviscerate - You need to be able to gut what you kill.
Instant Healing - You can't afford to get ill on a desert island, can you?
Heightened Senses - Always useful when there are things bigger than you that are hungry, too.
Conserve Energy - For those moments when food is scarce.
Soul Extraction - Now you can make a friend to talk and hunt with!

No special order:

- Thunderous Blast (in my opinion, best nova ever, you can use it as another ranged attack, no need to use it in the middle of a mob, very useful for running away).
- Lightning Rod (best brute attack).
- Howling Twilight (the ultimate multi-rezzer, everybody will love you during a RWZ Mothership Raid).
- EM pulse (combined with Glacier it helps a lot against a mob).
- Fulcrum Shift (as its description says, it helps changing the tide of a battle).
- Frostwork and/or Heat Loss (I haven't played any cold corr or defender, but got some friends that have enjoyed with them, they say these powers are great).
- Granite Armor (best tanker/brute armor ever).

This made me laugh a bit.
You pick these as the powers *YOU* think are best, but neevr used em yourself, but rather basing it on what other players say.
Doesn't that kinda defeat the purpose with the thread?

Not exactly; it's true I can't tell you if they were funny by using them, but teammates used them on me, and they were quite useful. Never mind, going back to the purpose of this thread, I could change them and pick Psionic Tornado instead.

1. some form of endurance recovery, so either AM, Quick recovery (or stamina) consume, the dark version of consume (which name i have forgotten atm), conserve power, recovery aura etc either one of these. Always handy but i think i'd choose AM or Quick recovery.
2. some staus protection or resistance: AM, Integration, the WP one, or the dark one (names!!!!).Practised brawler etc. Intergration would be my preference, or the WP one!
3.a self heal, reconstruction springs to mind
4. Personal force field (it is good even you cannot attack having it switched on)or Superior invisibility (still love this power)
5. an Aoe power probably a nova or short circuit or....
6. Head splitter ( the tier 9 from broadsword)
7. a nice ranged one or a sniper, hmm which one????

1. Stamina
That joyous moment in almost every characters life when you have 3 slot stamina and can finally beat the [censored] out of people for hours on end without that annoying 'out of stamina' noise.

2. Focus
The king of the Claws pool, great damage, blows them off thier feet, great for runners, and taking that extra mob out of the fight for that vital few seconds while you kill everyone else. With 1 cooldown reduction chains perfectly too.

3. Placate
Ahh placate. How many times has it saved my [censored]! Not to mention made Boss mobs a breeze, especially with 3 slots of cooldown reduction. An Assassin's Strike every minute or so makes mince meat of the toughest boss.

4. Instant Healing
Not sure how long it lasts but it just makes you feel utterly invincible.

5. Air Superiority
I think I'm the only person who likes this power! Focus->Strike->Air Superiority->Slash rinse and repeat. Chains perfectly, they'll just keep bouncing until their dead... you won't have a mark on you as long as you keep the timing right.

6. Fly
Yes, Fly, for no other reason that Flying is just inherently cool. I don't care that other travel powers are more uber for PvP or whatever... I can FLY! Love it even more since wings came along.

7. Hide
So not only do I get to Fly but I can be invisible too! My super hero dreams of childhood are fulfilled!

Well to me it's often a necessity, but that doesn't make it a favourite - I don't get much fun out of the power itself

2) Howling Twilight : A great auto-stun and debuff with a cool animation. Which has the side effect of bringing people back from the dead.

3) Fire Imps : Savage them my pretties, savage them. No... not them. the other group. No!! DON'T RUN ACROSS THE ENTIRE ROOM. NOOOOOOOOO....

4) Spectral Terror : Wailey spookey thing which scares the bejaysis out of things. Whats not to like?

5) Gang War : A mob of useless stone throwing wasters. Nothing like setting these on an AV for kicks and watching them get mowed down.

6) Hurricane : Or Hurricane + TP rather. Loads of fun chain-TPing around a bunch and forcing them back towards the grinder that is your team mates

7) Grave Knights : Mostly for those cool swords they get, and that satisfying noise they make when they disembowel someone with em.
