The EM nurf
Final nail in the coffin of melee toons but yeah ET was ridiculusly overpowered

I'd of been happy if ET had kept an animation time at around 2seconds. Maybe edging 2.2 or 2.3 tops (like Widow; Eviscerate).
2.67 is that little bit too long, however. The TF change is inconsequential for PvP IMO.

Nerf my toon that i play since episod6! If i would want longer animation i would choose FS at least i would touch more often!
And after they will say that in pvp melee AT are not worth pvping against ranged AT, sure if they nerf time of nrj transfer, would be better to keep 1sec and take of stun effect from this power!
Can't even find words... Ah! yes.. like politician they wait on holidays that people are not here to bring unpopular nerf!

When does this poxy idea come into play then?
EM isnt a fantastic "i win" power set to start, it did give melee chars at least a chance to be a bit competative in pvp though.

For what its worth, I think the dev's are seriously looking at PvP balances. I suspect a mechanism to allow melee attacks to be more viable is in the offing.
However, they must also balance the sets. EM was ridiculously good in PvP.
I'd keep your hope up for a few months at least (or until issue 13).
This is at least a step in the right direction: EM is now on a relatively level setting with other melee attack sets (?Still over powered). That *IS* a step in the right direction.
Energy Melee has been overpowerd in PvP for a long time. Why do you think that every other toon in a PvP Zone is a EM??
I have said that the EM Sets on all AT's needs Balancing.
I do have EM toons myself so dont get me wrong.
But this is fair imo. I still feel further balancing is needed.
lol the 1 toon i realy enjoy in pvp and is great in tf's/sf's and they decide to nerf it. Wish I had know befor I spent all my inf on it. Will wait to see if it effects my enjoyment in tf's/sf's as for PvP looks like ill have to join everyone else and make a blaster. Mind you that does mean 1 less villian around.
On another note I've found I've been listing the pros and cons of staying as coh is getting a little boring (play pvp for the last few months has improved it) this has put another tick in the con side. Mainly down to spending hours getting the toon to how I like. Now I have to rethink it and if I don't like it dump it. Make that a big tick.
The good ticks still out do the bad at the mo but its getting close.
Well i agree EM needed a nerf but yeh i am just about to get my ice/em tanker to 50. I know melee is a bit lol in pvp but i prefer it.

well been on to test to try this out ok animation is ok but the time ahhhhhgggg. Activate it in a large mob by the time you actualy hit your target your health drops. If i keep it in my build will only use as a finisher. The only problem with that in pvp is by the time it activates the foe will have heal dance a jig and run to base.
A quick Q how meny of you have the big ice hols on corrs on pvp as that the same activation time and another power thats good but just way to long to activate?

I think this ET change was long coming tbh.. but Energy Melee now as a power set, has ET with a 2.7 sec animation and TF with a 3.3 second animation. Animations play quite a viable part in PvP and I have to say I think when this patch goes live it will have a huge impact upon PvP itself, melee is screwed now fo sho.

Thats another decent power rendered useless by the activation time, its no good in pve, let alone pvp.
Everyone's forgotten to mention that it roots you AND breaks hide as soon as you cast.
At last!!!! a power that can kill you as soon as you use it in pvp as well as pve, the game has been balanced
Guys, you all saw it coming. EM is still the best all-around melee set for PvP, and I'm sure many people will still complain about it.
The only thing I'm conserned about is that now Villains' already horrible spiking has been slowed, now there is 1.67 seconds more time to heal, phase, whatever, while Blasters' ability to kill has stood untouched (maybe the activation of Fire & Ice heavy hitters will be nerfed after this?)
Well anyway the devs are focusing on making PvP more balanced. We still need a PvP redname though!

That's actually a very good point, although it only affects the very few stalkers who actually played in teams properly

good "nerf" ... like a lot of powers in city of heroes transfert has a real disavantage now
like a lot of powers in city you don't like it yet ==> you respec and you don't take it ^^ (and know EM remaining at least 2 extreme damage shots ... still the only spec with 2 extreme damage shots I think)

Only just geting interested in PvP myself but if melee is underpowered anyway why nerf it's best set instead of adding small bonuses to the other melee sets making them and melee in general more viable. The rich get richer etc..
Yeh melee will be a complete waste of time now.
Why they are nerfing melee when blasters>pvp I dont understand.

But surely reducing the effectiveness of an overpowered set will encourage those who don't have the set to PvP a bit more?
If you have a set that's starting to dominate PvP, then while that will encourage some more hardcore types to work hard on finding a way to counter it, it'll also discourage the more casual PvPers who'll think it's unbeatable.
It might seem like fun to own a zone and chase off almost everyone else, but after a while, all you're left with is an empty zone, and the zones are the most important way of attracting new PvPers.

PvP is there so people can 'pwn' right?
I don't get why people make the 'best class / archtype' for pvp. If one's truly willing to show their skill why not 'pwn' with a different archtype? I just don't understand.
Un-related but a classic example would be CS; where it would be a lot more humiliating to get knifed rather than simply shot.
Back to the topic, I'm thankful to the EM nerf and I hope more will follow.
What you lot think about it?
Energy Melee / Energy Transfer Activation time changed from 1.0 seconds to 2.67 seconds. New Animation and Graphical Effects also made.
Total Focus: All player versions of Total Focus Disorient Magnitude reduced to 3.
I am happy with that EM finaly is getting some sort off nerf, since its been OP way to long.
