Personally I have a grand total of ONE person from the unmentioned SG who graces a place on my global friends list. Most of the others are simply causes for me to switch sides in PvP zones when they come on...
I rate the aforementioned Global Friend as a good player and a generally decent person though, so I've nothing against the actual SG itself as-such. There just seems to be an extraordinary ratio of Dumb People to Normal People in it. Or at least Toons that act dumb... maybe it's just a big roleplaying thing?
They also have something of a reputation for the worst forms of Powerlevelling, acting up at the old-style Hamidon raids, etc. Interesting how a groups' reputation can proceed people like that. Even more interesting was that someone from *THAT* SG was questioning *YOUR* SG's reputation though.

Yeah. Like any group, I think its reputation is sullied by the members that are, erm... more vocal, less controllable and not-so-good-at-general-social-graces.
There's bound to be a few diamonds in all that rough, though I have to admit that I'm usually just as guilty of slightly prejudging toons from that SG whenever they join a PUG I'm on. Having said that, to this day I've only actually quit a PUG once because of the actions of its members... and on that nasty occasion (it involved a lot of verbal abuse to a relatively new player) none of the members of the unnamed SG were involved.

I had the same problem just like your a while back. By I think the same person, thanks to GG's detective work 
. I won't get into details but he was insulting my SG and a SG member. He was threating him pretty much the same way he did to you.
I think all we did was add him to /global ignore and try and stay out of his way as not to get into another fight.
I "generally" look at it all as taunting and smack talk. Boxers do it before a match. Its all RP to me. What language is used and the extent things get to changes much though as I do know things can go too far and be distressing. Its all about how far things go. Even ignoring someone can become an act of bullying.
On villain side, someone coming into the VG stealing everything would just be someone RPing a villain XD .

We had a problem person in the Storm Warriors for a while who started off being a great player, but it turned out he was just being on his best behaviour. He kept going on about raids and abusing other SG members and the coalition got really annoyed about all the nasty spamming in coalition chat. I had to kick all his alts after numerous complaints from the leaders of the SGs in coalition with us as I value them as friends much more than I did his company. It's amazing how one person can alter the social dynamic so drastically. As an SG leader the buck stops with me. I really hate kicking people and feel guilty about doing it, but if I don't do it, who will?

As for the smacktalk, yea.. I suppose it's all RP and all that in game.. but like most things.. they talk like that because they can, get them in person in RL and then you'd find they not only DON'T talk like that, you could kick them into next week for being that SAD to step up to you and try it.
Too many consider the Forum/Game as a post where they can act a "[censored]" shame that outside it, they wouldn't even bother trying.
Just /gignore and /ignore and /petition with date/time/person/zone etc and get on with enjoying the game. Eventually the idiots get the hint.
