Speed boost or Increase density first

Hi,

Im currently playing an Ill/Kin troller and have come to a dilemma. I plan to get Speed Boost, and Increase Density however I am unsure which one to get first.

Which one will help my and a team better? I plan on getting either sb, then spectral terror, then ID, but am unsure if it would be better to swap the order of SB and ID.

Please can I have your opinnions.

Personally I would take Speed Boost first. It's overall benefits make it more desirable to get earlier than ID.

That is unless you plan to fight lots of enemies that Hold/Sleep/Mez etc at your current level (CoT MM's I'm looking at you )

If that's the case, then ID is everyones friend - apart from you

Just a quick question along the same lines as SB and ID. Can I SB and ID my phantom army and phantasm (when i get it)?

Max's advice is normally spot on AFAIK.

I also have an ill/kin and will be taking SB before ID.

SB first, however be prepared for a constant barrage of "SB pls" as once tried it is highly addictive!!

Most everyone would want speed boost. (its for the endurance recovery mostly)

I'd also go with speed boost first, and then get used to being extremely busy. Although I love both powers I have to say. SB is just a great power for increasing your team's damage output. It boosts their attack rate and gives them the endurance regain to deal with it, as well as quicker run speed etc.

ID I find gets more helpful the higher in level you get, although has it's uses in the 20s when a lot of characters still don't have any knockback protection, I'd not rate it as a must have at that level for a controller. Also, in reply to the hold/sleep/mez comment, ID doesn't protection from sleeps. It protects from pretty much everything else including knockback, in addition to giving a very nice energy and smashing resist, but not sleeps.

'fraid not. It doesn't need ID as it can't be damaged anyway

Although SB (unlike AM) doesn't directly enhance damage (but DPS through recharge).

I advise you slot speed boost with 3 end mods in it. It's a godly power and really great!

ID is also great as a cheap clear mind-esque power. Also, if you plan on PvPing, it resists enemy teleportation effects. Which is dead handy! Oh yes indeed!

I'm not sure it actually needs 3 end mods. I used to have 3 slotted on mine but on a respec shuffled some slots about and put it down to 1 slot... and tbh although I've noticed a difference in end gain of the team it's not as much as I expected. I eventually put it back up to 2 slots and it almost feels optimum...

I think two slots is minimum for SB. In many cases the first slot only cancels out the higher end usage because of the big end-hungry clickies coming back faster. I regularly drain my endurance despite Speed Boost if it is only one-slotted.
Two slots will do for all but the most end-consuming toons. However, I always aim for three slots in SB.

The poor SR Scrappers with 3 slotted Quickness and 3 slotted Swift for run speed.

Quite funny for me though

Well having a 48 Kin defender I can assure you that you will be being begged for SB from 1/3 to 1/2 the group every mob - usually from the toons that have just run off as you get to them whilst working through the team. In all those levels I have been asked for ID once - it is useful against earth thorns though which you will find plenty of doing Hollows mishes. Also don't be surprised to find one or two team members who don't want SB as they can't adjust to the extra move.
