It'll be a shame to see you go, Coile. Gah, finding it hard to get the right words, but after leaving the game for a while, I came back and swung by PD, meeting up with you and Diurne on Nadia and Andre when I was playing Nene, and things went from there and helped rejuvinate the game for me.

It'll be sad to not have you about in the game anymore, and while I'll still have contact with Blackdove through MSN and our adventures in World of Warcraft, I hope you'll at least pop in on the Silent Tempest boards at times, and MSN too.

Also, gonna miss the ((AFK, Zerglings))

Take care and see you about!

*hugs*

Coile, I truly don't think I have met a more generous creative spirit in the brief years I have been playing this game, or hanging around the community.

You'd happily share ideas without falling into the common trap of then wanting to control how they were used. That's a real rarity. Your origin ideas that did so much to create the Hyperion Watchmen are just one example of many.

Sky goddess protect, and Rock On, Dude!

Coile, again, thank you very much for your confidence in me, and as far as I'm concerned, when/if you return, 4th Wall is yours. I'm just the caretaker for now.

Do be well mate, and good luck in everything you do.

Amber Banshee and Crimson Archer lead a team comprised of Militia members, The Portent, Shadow Pariah, Luna Starbright and two heroes who were trying out for the group, Rockheed and Holly Steel. The team was investigating Rikti activity in Paragon City when the heroes came across the Rikti attempting to force terrified citizens to drink some liquid, which would later be technically qualified as "Goop".

After analysing the substance back at The Militia base, it was identified as human cellular waste, but with characteristic similar to a mutagen. A call was them recieved that the Rikti were once again attemtping to use the substance, and the team (now joined by Hyperion Watchmen liason officer, White Vampyr) raced to rescue more trapped citizens form the aliens before their experiment could be carried out.

Despite serveral injuries, including Crimson Archer missing his footing on a seven storey building, and White Vampyr falling from the sky following a psychic attack, the rescues were successful, and the team retired to the base to lick their wounds and continue analysing the collected substance.

Holly Steel and Rockheed were both accepted into the ranks of The Militia following their performance, and the night ended on a high note.

Sunday in Pocket D

Jan Boa and trusty henchman Cobra headed to Isaac's Bar (not to be confused with BDSM/Alternative Nightclub 'The Pits', who is managed by Isaac Anderson), and overheard Powerstone inviting the demonic-looking Cinderfall to stay at his place in Dark Astoria. After Cinderfall departed, Jan shoo'd Cobra off and went to speak with Powerstone about business, pleasure and family, including Jan's marriage to fellow half-snake (by mutational accident, not by lineage) Eco System, and whether the pair were going to have any 'hatchlings', as the snakeish Jan described them.

Mentions were also made to where former barwoman, occasional adult movie star, jeweller, eco-activist and slightly mothersome plantlady Alraune/Dinah Ewers was. Jan assured Paul that the German bombshell was safely looking after the Garden Jewels while owner Roselin Thorne got used to motherhood. Apparently, the owner of Boa Personell Services spoke to her through business, and also the fact she often comes into the Euromarket below Jan's offices.

She's got to indulge in her taste for importer European goods somewhere!

They also spoke with a young woman named Steel... uh... something!, sorry for forgetting the name, about a few things. The woman was new to the city and rather impressed with Pocket D. Jan however, had to get back to her husband/mate before he got worried and sent his men out to look for her.

Monday Night

New hero to the city Arrow Azure met up with The Enlightened Falcon and Automobilised in Kings Row. While on patrol, Arrow had spotted some shady goings on in a cave near the station, and after giving Falcon a fright by leaping from the ledge he was observing on, the three teamed up to track down a group selling Quantum weaponry.

Arrow was low on his trademark arrows, mostly of the trick variety, after a hard evening of action, but was able to support the young Peacebringer and bipedal automobile in the fight, and they were soon off to a warehouse in Atlas Park to follow up the lead.

Finding crates of the anti-Kheldian weapons, Arrow Azure used his miniature explosives to not so miniaturely blow up the crates, and found a few of his Cryocapsule Arrows in his quivers. Automobilised asked why he didn't freeze the weapons instead.

"I'd rather use explosives on guns and freeze people for a few moments than the other way around."

Good answer, I say.

During the night, Falcon was hit by a Quantum blast or two, and when they moved on to track the final deal down in Kings Row, during the last fight against the group (who turned out to be Council supplying it to gangmembers), he exploded in rage. Rage and a iridescant blue-white light and for the first time became what is commonly known as a 'white nova'.

Needless to say, Falcon was frightened, confused and wondering where his arms and legs went, Automobilised was amused, and Arrow Azure just confused. Automobilised did however offer some advice on how to change back, and suggested that the young hero try to find some people to teach him more about his powers. Arrow Azure told them his name at last, and explained why it wasn't Azure Arrow. His father used to hero under Azure Arrow back in his home state, and he picked up the title, but on moving to Rhode Island it appeared the state supergroup register already had someone named that, so he had to accept the alternative, if grammatically confusing, version.

The pair suggested he just introduce himself as Azure Arrow though.

Early Thursday Morning - The Hollows

Whilst out on a flight over the city, Long SnowFlame came across young hero Cindersnap sitting by himself on the bridge over Red River in Eastgate, looking out into the gulch. The teen had been contemplating and thinking on things, and had come back to the place that marked one of the milestones of his life, in that it was where he spent his last moments of freedom before being arrested three years ago for his crimes with the Hellions.

Long, husband to Ryan's 'BFF' (That's Best Female Friend ) Sister Kinetic, helped Ryan talk though his thoughts and feelings by listening, and discovered the young man had a good head on his shoulders that he had worked out and tried to come to terms with the guilt of the loss of his parents, his brother and the crimes he committed.

Talk moved on to happier things, of weddings, relationships, the importance of friends and family, with Ryan talking candidly to his friend about how much his friends meant to him, and the simple pleasures of just being around them. (He used Nightschild for that example. I always found it cute how they got along, even though they're pretty different in some ways.) The upcoming American-style wedding of Kara and Long had the groom worried, and Ryan moreso for Kara's promise to invite a ton of people found on a [censored] website if Ryan didn't come with anyone.

Talk also found its way to the subject of the object of Ryan's crush, Crimson Archer, with the young man hearing from Long how he reacted to news of Ryan's injuries, and has decided to ask him if he'd like to come with him to their wedding. Y'know, for company and the like. And to ward off the flock of cute [censored] singles that Kara has sworn to invite. He also came up with a plan to finally try and arrange the dinner with Crimson that gets put off and delayed due to mishap and incident on both parts.

After some more chatting and bonding, Long had to leave, and Ryan began the walk home.

Thursday Afternoon

White Warlock, recently returned to the city, made his way to Unity Vigil HQ, the complex under the island owned by the Unity Vigil's leader to meet with old friend and comrade Zorielle Rolando. Glad to have an old hand back with her, the two talked of the attacks, of family life and events, before Zorielle offered Michael the chance to join the Unity Vigil as a Senior Member.

Michael gladly accepted, and he recieved a tour of Unity Vigil HQ, and information on various things in the Unity Vigil, including an introduction to the UV's OverAI, BODICIA. She's only joking when she does the whole superior being skit, right? ... Right?

Thursday Evening

Arrow Azure turned up at Pocket D, and proceeded to make plans on a series of strikes against some buildings in Independence Port. Just what is the newly arrived hero up to? When Love Angel overheard him on the phone to Freedom Corps Logistic Supplies, she offered him some helpful advice on ordering arrows, and told him who to ask for and who to say referred him for some added service. She also wished him luck when he left to do some crime fighting.

Number Nine arrived to find the Silent Tempest and recent Shades of Darkness recruit Cinderfall having an argument over her brother and the location of a missing person, with blue trouble electromagnet (no, not Fusebox) Zeyna having encountered the demon girl and come off worse for it.

After affirming to partner Dee Dee Diablo that she'd defend her honour if needed, and briefly talking to Star Crusader about changes she was going through, reformed villain Laugh Riot (Now known as Headliner) bought her a drink, and the pair got chatting about things, later joined by Big Lunk.

Lunk was offering Headliner a position with the Unity Vigil, and he seemed to have trouble saying Zorielle's name. Zolando indeed. Though that is close to Zoolander.

After some arguments and shouting from the ST, Dee joined Nene for a drink, and was her usual uninhibited self in conversation, with the talk between the four being somewhat risque and damn right disturbing in places. Excusing themselves later, they gathered up an annoyed Diana and headed upstairs, where Xan was talking with Wolf Blade from the New Heroes Union, in the midst of some turmoil between heroes and villains. Getting a call from Light of Truth, the group decided to roll out to Peregrine Island, with Nene and Dee enjoying some brief couple time and chatting before they entered the portal to Pantheon Earth, where the Banished Pantheon reigned supreme.

On a mission of rescue, the group fought valiently through zombies, mystics, shamans and bad tourism gifts of doom, with Light of Truth going to co-ordinate the evacuation while the others slogged through the fight, with some tensions between Wolf, Dee and Diana. Nene knows best to only interfere if needed in Dee's affairs, after all, she -is- proud of how emotionally strong her partner has become.

Later joined by Luna Starbright the group took down Pantheon Earth's version of Adamastor who was thankfully smaller than his Earth Prime version due to the general spread of Pantheon influence, instead of the concentration. Still hurt though, but he was taken down, the refugees rescued, and the group departed.

Meeting Sword of Redemption outside briefly before leaving, Dee and Nene went off to discuss various things, and were seen teleporting away from Portal Corp Courtyard.

Recaps missing anything? Not got the full story covered? Feel free to add what people miss! It's nearing spring, it's 3 years of EU Roleplaying, let's get renewed and revived!

Last night in Pocket D:

Morgana Fiolett arrived back in Paragon City after her latest trip back to the UK and went straight to Pocket D. There she got into conversation with another magic-user at the bar, and mentioned Melchior, the Bone Eater. This caught the attention of Enlightened Falcon who was sitting at the bar. He explained that Melchior was apparently looking to sacrifice his friend Glitterfrost and Morgana offered her assistance, providing him with a rough map showing the last known location of Melchior's base, and promising to try and obtain details of his rituals from her coven back home. She also offered to distract Melchior's companion Violet Morgan at the appropriate moment so that Enlightened Falcon wouldn't have to deal with two necromancers.

Being essentially a blunt and tactless person, Morgana then berated Enlightened Falcon for sitting in a bar when a girl he so obviously liked was in trouble. And she said he was cute. Which may not have had the desired effect.

Thursday Evening - Headliner's POV

Headliner stopped by Pocket D's for a drink and was dissapointed to find only two familair faces, Love Angel and Mesoc ,the latter of which he barely knows. After a bit of small talk the conversation turned to a friend of blue bombshell Zeyna (I hope I got that right) being attacked and almost [censored]. In one of the purest signs that heroism still lives, every nearby hero expressed a desire to help find this criminal. Enthusiasm waned slightly when it was revealed they were an incredibly powerful demon, but Headliner insisted that if you hit something hard enough, it goes down!

Zeyna left to track down the sister of the demon in question and Headliner offered Arrow Azure some advice on enjoying a drink while still keeping his mask on - the black and blue garbed archer leaving soon after for 'business'.

Two people arrived in short order - rock sensation Dee Dee Diablo and the woman Zeyna had left to find - Cinderfall . Diana, aided by Dee Dee, began a somewhat halting interrogation of Cinderfall as to the whereabouts of her brother while Headliner stood in the back and did his best to look menacing.

Number Nine arrived just as the discussion was becoming heated and Freddy motioned for her to join him at the back. The two agreed that they would look menacing together, but seeing as neither Diana nor Dee Dee got the information they wanted Freddy decided that people didn't find him as threatening as they did when he was supercriminal Laugh Riot . Well, duh Freddy.

Freddy and Nene began to chat, shortly joined by Big Lunk and Dee Dee. Ben told Freddy he could get him some work as security in the Unity Vigil, but Freddy still can't get Zorielle Rolando's (see, I know what it is) right! With Dee Dee's influence the conversation soon became very disturbing, and Freddy was struggling not to laugh at her wisecracks, as part of his therapy includes making an effort to laugh less at 'negative humour'.

Conversation also touched on the media hi-jacker Jargon and his possible intentions before Nene and Dee Dee left to attend to a somewhat depressed Diana. Ben suggested to Freddy that he get back in shape if he wanted to work for the Vigil, the implication that he was no longer as good in a fight as once was hitting a bit close to home for Freddy.

They were joined by Ben's pregnant wife, Summonness , and they discussed Freddy becoming a godfather and whether or not he will ever have a family of his own with his long time girlfriend The Tormentress . Beccy (Summonness) also mentionned the fact that Freddy wasn't in the same shape as he was during his Laugh Riot days. He left soon after, slightly hurt by their comments that he couldn't hold his own in a fight anymore and that he wasn't likely to enjoy the same sort of married life that they did.

Following the last weeks discovery of Rikti testing an unknown mutagen (henceforth refered to as "goop") on trapped humans, and the subsequent investigation undertaken by The Portent, The Militia continued trying to find out what exactly was going on...

[u]Monday Evening[u]
Crimson Archer investigated a report of a labratory break-in, thinking it may be connected to the information found by The Portent, but arrived only to find soldiers from Arachnos forcing a man through a crudely made hole in the floor and into a tunnel. From the brief glimpse he got, Crimson Archer thought that the scientist may have been Dr. Herman Gregory, and rather than tackle the Arachnos forces alone, he put out a call to pull a Militia team together to rescue the scientist.

A team consisting of Wavekite, Rockheed, Holly Steel and Shadow Pariah quickly came together in Founder's Fall, but then found themselves in the middle of a Rikti attack! Whether this was a random occurance or pay-back for last weeks actions was unknown, but the heroes fought hard to repel the aliens. When the WarWalls were finally restored, the Militia team raced across town to try and head off the Arachnos forces, arriving with barely enough time to attempt the rescue mission.

The mission was fast and fairly brutal, but the scientist was safely rescued. Unfortunately it wasn't Dr. Herman Gregory, but another scientist called Michael Lewis who was attempting to track down Dr. Gregory's other labs. He informed the team that he'd heard that Dr. Gregory had been working on a weapon grade mutagen, but didn't know what its effects might be or where Dr. Gregory might be now.

Frustrated by the dead-end, The Militia decided to take it out on some random Circle of Thorns who were summoning near by. During the fight the Thorn mages were heard to exclaim about "protecting the stolen heroes", and The Militia interrogated several more groups before finding out that the Circle were holding a group of heroes, and preparing to perform some form of arcane ritual involving them.

In a race against time, and the heroes turned out to be Paragon Protectors! With both a trigger happy Crey extraction team and Circle of Thorn mages & demons to cope with, The Militia had a hard time disrupting the various rituals, but with assistance from Powerstone the task was finally completed and the Paragon Protectors released safely.

Unfortunately Shadow Pariah recieved what appeared to be serious injuries during the mission and had to be teleported to hospital, which added a slightly bitter taste to the evening's success.

Tired and troubled by losing their comrade, The Militia members retired to Pocket D.

Tired and troubled by losing their comrade, The Militia members retired to Pocket D. Where Cindersnap, Liberty Girl and Shadowe were enjoying a drink, as they talked over various things including Liberty Girl's application to the Unity Vigil.

Ryan's old friend/enemy/rival Vultimune was there as well, much to Crimson Archer's distaste, and later on, Wavekite's when she discovered just what the ex-UV member was like.

Still, Ryan was glad to see Jay, if rather nervous to meet his colleagues too, and started rambling away to them, mostly Wavekite and later Amber Banshee.

Bidding Liberty Girl and later Shadowe farewell as they left, Ryan was left with the Militia, and soon began talking to Wavekite as Jay went to get a burrito, and in a nervous state of trying to fill the silence, started to tell her about his past with the Outcasts and the MYRS project, but stressed strongly that he was making amends for his past crimes.

When Jay returned, the Militia started talking about business, and then Saffron later.

(Oh, as I recall, Ryan also gave a bit of a talk to Militia members about street drugs, with some interjections from Vultimune, as he recounted part of his day earlier in taking down a bunch of Tsoo selling Rage. It's his 'area' as it were, taking down drug dealers. I really need to get Ryan the 'I Said No To Superadine' badge )

Excusing himself from the discussion, Ryan left to look out of the dancefloor windows, and when Jay found him later to say he was going home, they briefly discussed their dinner date before Jay left, and Ryan headed back to chat a little more to Wavekite.

Last night in Pocket D

Alraune turned up for a drink, and failed in an attempt to drag some lucky young man off home, citing interference on Glitterfrost's part. Next time, Enlightened Falcon, she's a persistant woman.

Instead, she spoke with Josie Ironside about work, business and getting a safe cracked, before heading home.

Number Nine, tired from a day at work and searching for missing girlfriend Dee Dee Diablo, arrived and spoke to old friend Josie about her various problems. Some drinking occurred. As did some light flirting, and offers of a night of anarchy and fun in the Rogue Isles. Nene was a little tempted by that, but decided not to chance anything, and after finishing her rum said goodbye to Josie by way of a hug. And an [censored] grope. Bad Nene, what'll Dee think, when she gets back from being Lost in Time and Space?

It was with excitement that The Amber Banshee rushed to her appointment with Major Paul Stone, otherwise known as Powerstone, after being recommended to speak to him by Dante Carver. She held in her hand a shard of the crystal that the Militia had recovered from the Circle of Thorns, a crystal that could locate anyone, anywhere in the world. After two years and four months, she actually had chance to hope that the search for her father was almost at an end.

The conversation was not to be private as the Major was currently host to Night’s Child and Umbral Star who both sat to hear Amber’s story. She told them of how her father had gone missing and how she had acquired her hero license so that she could do her own investigating when the police failed to turn up anything. How she had been recruited into the Militia and had frequently used their resources on what turned out to be wild good chases whenever she had a lead. Her hosts listened patiently as she confided in them before presenting the shard that she had stolen three weeks ago. She admitted that she was unable to use it and that the Major had been recommended to her as someone who could help.

Examining the shard, Powerstone was able to repair a fracture that prevented it from working, enabling Amber to use it once more. However, going beyond her initial request, he offered to empower it so that she could locate her father instantly. Immediately taking him up on his offer, Powerstone and Night’s Child began a ritual to awaken the crystal, leaving Amber holding the shard, concentrating on one purpose, finding her father.

As the crystal began to vibrate an image formed before her, of one that she was certain was her lost parent. But as it began to take shape, it became apparent that something was wrong.

The shape before her was grey…

Misshapen…

Immense…

And roared at her through a tangle of oily tentacles…

It became sickeningly apparent why all of her previous efforts to find her father had failed: she had been trying to find someone that was still human. And as she stared back broken hearted at the Greater Devoured, she knew that her father was now anything but. As Amber faltered, Powerstone reminded her to try and learn his location while Nick laid down a protective barrier in case the creature tried to break through. Hardening her resolve, she focused as the monster, aware of their surveillance roared at them.

The link failed just as the shard gave up its last secret. As the crystal faded and died, Amber knew that he was in Eden, near the heart of Devouring Earth territory.

Distraught, Amber discussed the possibilities of rescuing her father and whether they would be able to restore his humanity. Nick remained sceptical while the Major pondered whether the poor man’s mind would cope with being changed back and whether he should simply be left where he was. Convinced that she had seen a spark of recognition in the creature’s face, Amber resolved to rescue him and do what she could to bring him back. She thanked both Nick and the Major for their help, confirming the alliance between the Militia and the Shades of Darkness. She left their company distraught but determined to bring an end to her father’s torment.

Stress is a funny thing. Meeting with Crimson Archer and Holly Steel, The Amber Banshee appeared subdued, almost quiet compared to normal. Crimson was pensive, waiting for a phone call that might give him some news about what had happened to his trainee Dee Dee Diablo since she disappeared. Only Holly appeared relaxed, settling herself nicely into the Militia.

Following a lead on a missing hero, Jay disappeared rapidly once he received his phone call, leaving the two heroines to apply the pressure to Crey and their cronies. Between the raging flames and finely pitched singing, the girls shared a few secrets although Amber regretted mentioning her ongoing state of singleness as Holly took it as a challenge to match her up with someone, much to the songstress’s embarrassment.

Finally escaping the vast laboratory, the two hung out in a café in Overbrook where they were joined by Luna Starbright and Wavekite. Wavekite was low also, having drawn a blank in her search for Found, the reformed member of the Lost who had been missing from their ranks since the last Rikti invasion. They speculated on what could have happened to him and whether if he had gone back to the Lost, if he was happier there. Amber showed them the shard of locating crystal that she had recently used to find her absent father but stopped short of saying what she had seen. She regretted not using it to track Found instead, the arcane device having only a one time use. Leaving them to consider what to do next, Amber headed home.

Monday 31 March 2008

Poking their noses into a high level meeting between Crey and the Malta Group is often a recipe for trouble as the assembled Militia proved, earning them the ire of both groups. It was however, the discovery of a lead on the missing scientist Dr Gregory that had the team of The Amber Banshee, Rockheed, Holly Steel, Luna Starbright, Gauisus Somnium, The Priest, Wavekite and Shadow Pariah dashing over the city to rescue him from another band of errant Rikti. Joined by White Vampyr of the Hyperion Watchmen, they were unable to rescue the errant scientist, the victims being teleported away before they could do anything. One remained long enough to slip a note to them though, nothing more than an address in The Hollows.

Establishing that the place was in fact a hidden Crey lab, the reception they received was typical of the corporate crooks. However what they were guarding was hard to believe. Laid out on one of the terminals were plans for a mutagenic plague based on Dr Gregory’s work, a virus that would eradicate anyone with a ‘non-standard human genome’. There was no timetable for its release or any plans to how it was to be deployed but the threat was serious enough for the Militia to clean up the lab and leave, none of the ‘staff’ there able to shed any light on the affair. More worryingly, Holly found a blank notepad, the type reporters carry which appeared to have been dropped in a hurry. Amber took the notepad, making a note of Suzi’s suggestion that they get a copy of its contents from the indentations left on it. Evidently though, someone had been there before them and there was no way of telling how much they knew…

Jean-Luc began to tighten the noose even further round the TLF by meeting with a young hero who had been kidnapped by a member named Masked Angel. He put forth his plan to attempt to hack the super-AI, O.R.A.C.L.E and asked for assistance, though he was reticent to discuss the matter with the entire Militia. However, his plotting was cut short by his being alerted by his heightened senses to the presence of an enemy watching...

He made his way back to the Fourth Wall and then went forth once more into a match in the illegal underground cage-fighting ring, though he vowed to himself it would be his last bout.

Quentin Foxwood

In a dimly lit room, complete with candle and flickering monitor, a young man sits reading a script written in a language that was dead before the continents split. Above his head, invisible and inaudible, two beings look on. One is red eyed and sharp toothed; the other is soft lipped and rosy of cheek.

"So is he mine or yours do you think, tk, tk."

"It is ever so hard to tell with his kind, Atlantean blood is so difficult to read. Must you clack your teeth like that?"

"Ha, best for us both that they left, damned meddlers."

"Indeed, they were a power unfathomable."

The young man stood up, an open can of Budweiser in his hand. The modern vessel clashed with a somewhat Victorian attire. He pressed a button and music filled the room, "Should I stay or should I go, If I go there will be trouble, If I stay it will be double..."

"I say he's mine, his soul is still untainted by modern standards."

"Tk, tk. Ah, but look at the way he moves, his eyes, that smile. There's a wolf in there and one day it'll come out, he's mine alright."

The young man lit a cigarette and semi danced around the room whilst reading the crumbling parchment.

"Dear me I see what you mean, he has no sense of reverence. That document could rock the religions of the world and he's treating it like a fly swat, no offence."

"None taken."

"But then again, the glow of the protector is there, can't you see it?"

The young man stubbed his cigarette out and dropped the parchment as he looked upwards. "Would you two please shut up I'm trying to listen to this."

"...if you say that you are mine..."

"What?!?"

"Tk, What?!?"

"In my left hand I have death." The hand sparked dangerously. "In my right hand I have life." The hand glowed calmly.

Red eyes widened; soft lips gaped.

Sparking death and pulsing life blazed forth sending the two watchers racing back to their realms in shared surprise.

"One day is fine, next is black..."

"I'll decide who I am and who I'll be, by fair means or foul. And I'll do it in Paragon City.Look out Thorns, Foxwood's coming and he's ready to do some gardening!"

Ages and ages since the last post on this thread...

Last night, shortly before his regularly scheduled evening at Galaxy Girl, Richard Huntington/Shadowe received an urgent call from Portal Corp asking for assistance against a high-tech enemy, presumed to be Rikti. On arriving at PC's headquarters on Peregrine Island, he met a number of heroes, being led by Major Paul Stone, and the cadre entered a portal to find themselves on a ruined world, faced by a large number of foes. They weren't Rikti, however, but followers of the powerful Lord Nemesis. A heated and frantic battle took place as the heroes struggled to overcome the Nemesis Army troops, in the process rescuing a number of innocent civilians, who have since been repatriated to Union-Earth.

The Darkest Part of the Internet and Men

It all began when Tabitha Cole, the fanfiction writer known as Nightfire79 was browsing various adult fiction sites. A friend of Ryan 'Cindersnap' Andrews and Nightschild, she became suspicious of a set of stories posted by a man going by the online handle of Erudite1.

Doing some background research, the 26 year old woman found cause for alarm, and called the magically inclined Nightschild to her appartment to tell him what she found. Giving Nick a series of extracts from Erudite1's various stories, Nick grew grim from not only the content, but that the magical rituals described in them were -very- close to being true rituals. And purposefully altered so that they were not the correct ones.

Discussing the case further, Tabitha had used her skills to pull up a caselist from over 10 years, each woman's injuries responding to a story on the site. In order to protect Tabitha in case the writer came after her, Nick used rituals to set up defences to ward the man off, and then contacted the Unity Vigil's AI, BODICIA to get electronic assistance.

Several days later, Nick recieved the Call. BODICIA had intercepted a new story being transmitted from an IP address, and traced it back to a house belonging to a Ms. Tiffany Dalmer. Nick prepared himself and let BODICIA know to send backup if he didn't check in within a few hours. BODICIA also tried to persuade him to join the Unity Vigil, but she can get a little collective when it comes to things like that.

Arriving at 631, Silverbirch Drive in suburban Paragon, Nick began to scout out the detatched house. Sensing wards attatched to the doors and glamours at the windows, he carefully used his shadowy powers to probe deeper inside the house, finding a ritual of power being conducted, and 3 life forms. Growing wary as whoever was inside lowered the wards to the back door, he contacted BODICIA to let the AI know that 30 minutes was the check-in time now, and proceeded inside.

Finding the family dog butchered by a lightning blast, he proceeded wearily into the lounge, where Erudite1, a middle aged man with thick glasses and a receeding hairline was conducting his depraived business on the house owner and a neighbour. Keeping his wits and emotions tight about him, the pair exchanged somewhat strained verbal blows, before Erudite lead Nick outside and warded the back yard, to prevent their battle from alerting the neighbours.

Mystical and nether energy blasted from each, as the half-Incubus hero brought his skills to bare against the Mu-blooded Erudite, who in desperation soon began to sacrifice the lives of his victims to create soul servitors to aid him in battle. When Nick moved outside of the warding area, Erudite was not afraid to call down blasts of crimson lightning, and the ward was soon revealed to be a trap, designed to draw Nick in, whether to drain his powers or kill him.

With Nick putting a lot of energy into a final blast, Erudite knew the battle was lost and sacrificed the other victim and his own life energy to try and kill Nick, and while the blow connected, Nick was merely injured.

Hauling himself off the street, Nick made his way round the back to grab the just clinging to life mage, and dragged him inside. Enraged that not only had he done his crimes, but dragged and killed an innocent neighbour in who only came round to offer some home-made cooking to Ms. Dalmers, Nick drained the last of the mages life and the residual energy in the house from the ritual to ressurect her. For Ms. Dalmers, the physical and spiritual damage was already done.

The Unity Vigil arrived, headed by BODICIA in a Castille-Class Heavy Power Suit, Michael 'Storm Sapphire' Preston in a patrol car and detatchment of Vigilant guards to secure the house and deal with the authorities.

Michael gave Nick a lift home, talking to the young man on the way about various things, including girlfriends, engagements and mutual friends, before dropping him off and heading back out to deal with the aftermath.
