Seeing as this thread is not related to Galaxy Girl, small updates:
Maximillian has gone underground after his attempts to use portal technology for his own means, by turning it into a super-weapon.
Saryn Kast is on the hunt for a demon being who has challenged his abilities, but as yet, has not revealed themselves properly.
Nova Violet continues to work his way up the crime ladder after leaving the Malta Operatives
Dr Apocalypse works furiously, day and night, searching for the right components for an unknown device, and can be heard muttering to himself in his cold, metallic tone about 'saving her'.

Friends are people who tolerate you despite of yourself. Friends are people who put up with antics that drive others up the walls. Friends are people who are left after you try to push everyone away. You can choose who you consider as friends but one thing you can't choose and that's who considers you a friend.
A lot can happen in two weeks. You can meet someone. And you can watch that someone die. Whether or not the ending has an impact depends on what took place in-between those two fleeting points in time. This is what happened between Coile and Nightsparrow. Rather, it's one look at it. Hardly the whole truth.
The first contact with the fighting force called Militia occurred when Coile and Sword of Truth met Dragonfly in Pocket D. It was significant because that is how the name 'Militia' was familiar when the next day Coile and Dustine ran into two Militia members outside Dark Astoria gates. The women were Lady Cobra and Nightsparrow. After establishing that there was a common ground to work on they completed a few jobs. During that Nightsparrow acted somewhat coldly and kept a firm distance. Neither of the Tempest heroes pushed the issue at all. Common goals?
During the next days relations advanced slowly. Tempest and Militia mingled forces and carried out simultaneous operations during one night before calling for a break and meeting in Pocket D. Then a day later Nightsparrow came along when Tempest took on a Freakshow conspiracy. Despite a few odd personality clashes it was all still mostly work. That was the last time. Then it all started to become more intense. Silent Tempest and Nightsparrow save the city
A few nights later Nightsparrow came to Pocket D drunk as a skunk and went to talk to Coile and Sword. She said "you look gorgeous" to which Coile agreed - Nadia indeed did look gorgeous. To his shock Nightsparrow turned out to be talking to him. He barely avoided having to go dance with her as she fell down for being just that smashed. The whole incident was written off by all parties as Nightsparrow being intoxicated beyond the ability to act within reason. Not that the event had escaped the notice of some outsiders as it became painfully evident soon enough.
The next night there was another run-in, and again in Pocket D. Suddenly Nightsparrow became incredibly frantic and bolted away like shot from a particle cannon. She headed straight to the villain end of the interdimensional bar and started a shouting spree at a goat headed being who seemed to just shrug off the verbal abuse. Nadia had stayed behind on hero side. Coile and Dustine followed the screaming for a while but left soon Nightsparrow and Lady Cobra with the goat head and his entourage. After some time the dust settled and the agitated Militia members scuffled back to the blue side.
One could argue that if someone is already fuming mad and irked to the max it won't spoil their night too much if you start verbally slugging them at that point. It would just spoil two nights if done later. Does this sound like anything that someone else but a complete jerk would do? Be that as it may this was the moment Coile decided to resume the conversation about ethics, killing villains and killing the Rikti. Nightsparrow was just as delighted of this subject that one could expect and the shouting match resumed. At one point the other was accusing the other to be a murderer and it is doubtful that neither was feeling particularly super at the time. All that and the incident made it to the papers too, with rumours about a secret love affair between the two of them. More ruckus in Pocket D
Silent Tempest has rarely made it to papers, and never with a picture. Not to Coile's knowledge at least which to be honest isn't widely regarded as the spitting image of accuracy anyway. Now with Militia all that had changed. It was as if the superpowered group led by someone named the Minister was a magnet for reporters and paparazzi alike. There was coverage for a few heroic deeds that Tempest did. There was coverage about a few details of private nature. And there were wild rumours straight from the mill freshly smelling of yellow paper manure. The Paragon Inquirer published a story about the alledged love affair which almost caused Coile a few burst frontlobe veins. Coile and Nightsparrow in hot secret affair! With juicy bits!
During all the shouting, yelling, fingerpointing and drunken misconduct a strange kind of friendship was forming. Nightsparrow was obsessed with the goat headed being who was called Grim Shade. She had lost her family to that monster five years ago and suffered from abominable nightmares ever since. It also came to light that Grim Shade was holding captive Nightsparrow's friend Keening Banshee. For some reason this resonated with Coile and he decided to do something about that. Talk about the deep end nogt checking if there was any water in the pool. The mad spiral towards catastrophic disaster had begun.
Before long Coile met Grim Shade's accomplice who her referred to as the grinning girl but who was later frevealed to bore amongst others the name Grinning Nightmare. She had taken Nightsparrow's dreams as her territory and shaped them to create massively bad dreams as well as driving the poor girl to mayhem, wanton killing and also towards the inevitable self destruction. Sparrow herself knew where she was headed to and wanted to avoid taking anyone along. Both Coile and Lady Cobra had made up their own minds about saving the doomed heroine. This in mind Coile tried to strike a deal with two devils at once. He almost did too but Subaiku stopped him from committing utter follies.
At that point it all had already escalated too far. Grim Shade had marked Rakila as a target. Samuel 'Freight Train' Blayne had become entangled with the mess. When all this was shoved on Nightsparrow's lap the point of no return was passed without anyone noticing. The late night situation analysis meeting ended with Sparrow telling to Coile that he couldn't watch her 24/7 and then she left. That was the last time Coile saw her alive.
Subaiku altered her dreaming wards slightly to allow Rakila to rest safe from the horrible powers of Grim Shade and Grinning Nightmare. Coile and Sam were simply instructed not to sleep. Coile went to look for Sword who was scavenging the Rikti crash site war archives in a faint hope of finding Crey's Revenant Hero dna database location. Drawing a blank Coile found his way to Sam's place where the two of them played videogames until middle morning. Then Subaiku arrived and allowed both a chance to sleep for a few hours with her keeping guard against malevolent dreams.
That night Sam caught Coile just as he was dashing off to do some investigation with Sword and Dustine. On his PDA he had a newsclip from earlier - the final moments of Nightsparrow. Obviously she had come to a conclusion that the only way to keep stupid people calling her a friend from getting hurt by Grim Shade was to confront him for one final time. The clash occurred on a roof in Siren's Call. It ended with the top five stories blowing up. On his way from Kings Row to SKyway City where his teammates were already waiting the reality sunk in - Nightsparrow had died. When he got off the train the trails of tears were evident. This seemd to shock Sword far more than the fact that Sparrow had ceased to be. The death of Nightsparrow
Apparently many people beside the trash press had been wondering if there was something going on between Coile and Sparrow. And even libelous articles with half truths were based on something actual. Nadia started to question whether there was some basis for all the rumours and whisperings. Coile denied it all. He also said that thinking that Nightsparrow had felt anything towards him was stupid and not founded on realities. Nadia had her own view.
To add insult to injury the Silent Tempest soon met Keening Banshee who was supposedly held by Grim Shade. The woman whom Coile had decided to free had escaped on her own and from a different warden to whom Grim Shade had tranferred her to. Coile's meddling with affairs bigger than he had born no fruit and had cause the status quo to destabilize enough for a woman to rush to her doom.
Some believed that Nightsparrow had prepared for the fight and perhaps teleported away. Some believed that she was dead. Some believed that something would have happened between Coile and Sparrow before long. Matters of belief remain so until proven right or wrong. If Sparrow is deceased some questions will remain unanswered until the end of time. But should she turn out to be alive certain questions will be asked again and before long answers will be plain to see.
Of course as with any presentation things have been omitted such as Coile and Lady Cobra discussing at lenght how to handle the Rikti menace and Cobra confiding to Coile with a few sensitive things. Also, she has her daughter missing. Has Coile learned not to meddle with things that he does not fully comprehend? Or will he press on and try to get Cobra's daughter back? The coming weeks will no doubt reveal many a fascinating things.

Yeah, I skipped perhaps an hours worth of playtime last night just to finish the bulk of the text. After that I was too lazy to add detail, broaden some bits or indeed proofread that chunk. It was "post it, log in!"

Who did you play again? Was it that Familiar bloke? Or ND-4? Who were you for that matter? I have a faint recollection of something lean and green skitter away with Coile's swimming trunks...
Yesterday, the Silent Tempest team, while on its way to operate against a Crey lab in the Hollows, met a strange being by the Atlas Gate, an unexpected event considering the frantic pace of the place where Lt Wincott is gathering and orienting newly licensed heroes all around.
Called Xha'al, this creature apparently occupying and animating the dead of a man, claimed being a student of the human nature. Slightly pedantic, Xha'al was pointed to the possible contradiction of willing to study humans while refusing to let their rules apply to you. Supported by Dustine and Sword of Truth, the "immersion technique" finally looked to get the attention of Xha'al.
However, Xha'al declined Sword offer to help the group in their coming mission against Crey and left.
Then led by Coile after the departure of Rakila, a recent addition to the team (after having only a student status under Coile watching), the three heroes investigated and closed the dubious Crey laboratory but faced again a squad of the latest Paragon Protectors generation.
To the suggestion of Coile, all decided to go to Pocket D for relaxing times.
Sword was quite late there, struggling and bargaining for a cut in fees for her new outfit. But no way, she was asked outrageous prices just to renew her wardrobe.
In Pocket D, Coile, Dustine and Coile met Arrow Flame, whose bone eruptions seem to have ceased, Love Angel, both being in discussion with a black hooded man. Their conversation focused on the nature of angels, demons. A conversation Dustine found interesting enough to join, while Sword kept her moody attitude and Coile had his usual friendly behaviour.
Despite recurrent interruptions and displays of black powers, the group was later joined by Bluestrike, clad in golden and blue costume and Miss Kinetix, who was apparently new there (from what she claimed).
Sword and Coile were leaving when Veskit just entered DJ Zero place and came to the group.
Last night:
Subaiku had finished constructing her dreamwards and dreamchimes and delivered a pair to Coile's apartment in Talos, another two to ment for Samuel Blayne that she left to his doorman with instructions to hang them near his bed. Also the Tempest base now sports several new handmade ornaments weaved from twigs, feathers and other nature's materials.
After that, she sneaked back into the shadows to do whatever she is doing when no one is looking. The always private and reclusive hunter seems to have withdrawn even further into her fortress of politeness and solitude since the Nightsparrow episode.
Blackdove
Steel Guard hasn't had much contact with the Silent Tempest since his return. He has been working hard,s till trying to generate a stable field to protect the base from outside telepathic attacks. Still no luck. He'll be working on that tonight as well and probably will not be availible till tomorrow. *hint hint* I'm booking rp time with a few people.
That's a relief. I was afraid this was going to be an argue over threads thread. But I see you've changed the title. No waffles?
Anyway, Kit isn't really up to much. She's mostly been asleep all day. At the statue, at home, at other people's homes, and especially under this nice industrial heating vent in Kings Row.
Either she's gone cat, or she's trying to hibernate.

Do cats hibernate? *shrugs* I know they like cuddles.
Tonnerre, the "mute singer" of the band Human Alternative, joined yesterday Bluestrike to try to derail the Freakolympics.
While the two women grew confident in their abilities to put an end to the stupid games of the Freakshow, during their missions to locate the main site, they faced tougher and tougher opposition.
When Bluestrike left to find something ediable and rest a while, Tonnerre went to Pocket D.
The place was soon bustling with activity with over a dozen of people gathered at the upper balcony bars, on what is sometimes nicknamed "the blue side".
The Militia was here in force, probably coming back from their thursday patrols. Several members of the Silent Tempest were here too, as well as various heroes and dubious individuals.
Not surprisingly, a fair chunk of the discussions were orbiting around Nightsparrow recent demise, Lady Cobra and Keening Banshee were notably engaged in a long dicsussion.
Coile from the Silent Tempest discussed with Inhilde and Rakila, both being his former students, both vanished, doing their own business and both looked to have returned.
But Ngithsparrow fate had to become the center of everyone's attention when a woman named Pistol, with her henchmen, thugs and bouncers, appeared.
After some teasing and the usual tense introduction, Pistol plainly told Coile she had a viedo footage showing the true nature of Coile and Sparrow relationship.
Coile claimed his innocence and denied that even a kiss was given. Pistol thought otherwise and finally suggested that, whatever the truth, such footage would interest some of the newspapers already covering the "hot affair" between the leader of the Silent Tempest and Nightsparrow.
Things were slowly heating up and Tonnerre tried to prevent the teen girl Rakila to act impulsively, stepping in to defend Coile. But Rakila just evaded the singer gentle grasp.
After having thrown a formal challenge to Coile and his team, Pistol finally left and went discussing her business with Seth and Darken, while Keening Banshee tried to convince Coile to not answer Pistol's provocations.
As everyone was slowly leaving DJ Zero place and with the return of Bluestrike, Tonnerre left Pocket D to resume her fight against the Freakshow.
(sorry for people present and not mentionned here. We were 15 at Pocket D at a moment and I was trying to follow two different discussions)
Do cats do kung fu and love explosions? This is one special feline we're talking about here.
...errr, has Kitmarch stuffed herself silly to have the extra fat to survive the hibernation? *boggles eyes and then runs like all hell*

You obviously haven't been hanging round Kit much. She stuffs herself silly every day. Okay, it's usualy for the raw material to patch up all those bullet holes with....

I think I've noticed Pocket D serving also some snacks aside of drinks. If Kit comes by to have a bite there Coile will have the chance to observe... (now WHY he would do that I don't know) Kit eating, assuming he isn't getting abuse from someone about Nightsprrow. Which might be wishing for toomuch as it seems to be the current fad and the favourite pasttime of anyone who knew Sparrow and of quite a few who didn't.

If you have nothing useful to say, you have two choices: Say something useless or stay quiet.
*crys* I can see the headlines:
"Tempest leader on prowl again!"
"Coile & Kitmarch - the new hot thing?"
"Reaction of hero peers: "Shocking!", claims Love Angel."
Maybe I'll use the 5th slot and drape the guy in a hood and cloak and try to pass as incognito Joe Noname.
"Proof of secret affairs! Multiple disguises!"
I can win against Freakshow and Nemesis, but not against the yellow press, I'm afraid.
A few weeks ago Subaiku showed interest on Samuel Blayne's non-hero profession and true love - football. He then invited her to observe and even participate to one of his practices. Subaiku was happy as a kid at christmas to throw the ball and hop along the team patterns. The well-oiled team that could move together as one reminded her of her past in relaxing and rejuvenating way. Even if afterwards the contrast to the current people around here was even starker. Opinionated, flimsy inviduals making decisions hastily and impulsively.
Then Sam had invited her to come watch one of his games and she had gladly accepted. However, during the first match she was busy with Tempest work, but yesterday Sam suggested the match on the coming saturday. The game would be played in NYC and it would take a whole day, travelling and all. Even if it ment spending hours holed up in a car, Subaiku agreed. Cars were a human thing to do, so she would do it. And she wanted to see the game.
Now Sam's dreamcatchers are placed carefully near his bed, even if the threat from Grim Shade and Grinning Nightmare seems to have passed. It was not so much of a threat as she had anticipated at first anyway, but better safe than sorry.

I know why he would not, at least not without a pressing reason - the frantic need to avoid Meadow and her nictus. No, Coile isn't very rational about that. Which is too bad as sometimes I have the urge to visit GG. Oh well, I have three plausible alts to throw into game assuming Coile isn't busy with things.
Kit was earlier asking where else but at GG to run into people. This is one way to bump into Coile if so wished.
...maybe someone watching someone else is just too daft an idea to begin with. I'd be hard pressed to recap that.
Burger Queen
Coile spent the entire evening watching Kitmarch stuff her face. Then he grew roots. Papers wrote lots of trash about it all and a few owls lost their woodland habitats.

May I remind you Sword never died ? She didn't returned from death, she returned from detainment. *others* thought her dead.
I ment from our point of view . We thought she was dead and there was much sadness. Then we found out she wasn't and there was much rejoicing. But of course she never really was dead.
Although, if this was Marvel universe *), I bet Sword would have died and the "Sword" we have now is just a copy, and then later on we'd find out that the real Sword hadn't died at all, but the Justice power had kept her alive and cocooned somewhere in the mountains and one day she just suddenly awakened. Then Coile would have the hard choice of deciding between the woman he had married and loved for years and had a baby with and his boyhood sweetheart and it takes him all five minutes to dump his wife and boy (yes, the "Sword" we know today apparently is pregnant or will be very soon) and fly off to the sunset with the woman he barely knows. Then the fake Sword gets taken over by alien hostile force and commits suicide, only she's not really dead but transported to different reality and will come back little later to win back that ******* of a guy, only everyone would think he's a hero and great guy. Oh, and great leader. And then from alternative reality comes his other daughter, and son, and nephew, and niece's dog and auntie, and they all die, get cloned, resurrected and die again.
... oh phew, this ain't Marvel.
Blackdove
*yes, I am traumatised.
Dunno if Coile is aware that Meadow's Nictus seperated off as a seperate entity some time ago, vanished for over a week, hasn't been seen at the statue for ages and that Meadow has recently asked Kit to lend her a quantum rifle?
Guess not.
