auto turret less useful in I8

• Many objects in the game which were meant to be immune to Teleportation have been made so. This affects several powers in the Traps Secondary and Gadgets secondary for players.

was looking forward to getting auto turret at level 38 on my AR/dev blaster and using teleport to move it around but this change looks like it's going to make the devices set less useful
i haven't got any experience of devices at that level so maybe i'm worng

even before issue 8 hits this thing is a joke :/ specialy for a lvl 38 power, just one more reason once issue 8 hits to avoid this thing

Almost everyone was overpowered before ED, even AR/Dev blasters. AR/Dev happened to be much less overpowered than everyone else :/

/Dev was overpowered back in Issue 1 .... somebody gave smoke grenade a 100% debuff instead of a 10%.

*sniff*

The way he phrases it sounds like they will let it go live and after like 1 year they MAY change it back for devices..

I'm not bothered, I took it hoping it would be good, I only have good opportunities to use it solo, and even then I've destroyed the mob before it has decent effect. It's coming out in my next respec.

What, like toggle dropping? Yeah, right.

Hey Im not trying to sound hopeful, quite the opposite.
Im scratching my head to understand why the whole tp objects-issue is here. What exactly harmful is there to tp NPC turrets? Even if you can tp the RV pillbox turrets it still doesnt sound like worth the devs attention. Theres lot more important stuff to fix.

Besides like the history showed, Blasters really didnt need toggledropping that much. (I still can't figure out why they gave the biggest drop chance to AT that benefits from it the least, the doms)

Can someone spell out the problem for me with the change because i just dont see one.

He will honor his words; he will definitely carry out his actions. What he promises he will fulfill. He does not care about his bodily self, putting his life and death aside to come forward for another's troubled besiegement. He does not boast about his ability, or shamelessly extol his own virtues. - Sima Qian.

auto turret has a long recharge and isn't great for damage, you can't move it in any way other then recal friend which makes it more useful as it's less of a one hit wonder. with this change once you've placed it, its stuck there.

So its not simply res to tp foe, its no longer a pet?

It will make no difference to my /dev (i do have it but no recall friend) but i can understand peoples pain.

I wouldn't say that - the last room in the Eden trial was an AR/Dev wonderland, with a decent herd and Full Auto (6-slotted for damage, naturally) available almost on demand; when you got bored of that, Trip Mines could be randomly dispensed for comic effect. Enough nostalgia.

I haven't had Auto Turret in Syn's build for a long time; when I did have it, TPing the AT was one of the main uses I found for it. It'll be interesting to see where they go with the Devices set now - if it goes anywhere at all.

[/ QUOTE ]This pretty much has to be yet another devastating blow for /dev (I don't play it, although I don't think any set should be this lame tbh), I REALLY REALY REALLY think the devs should look at the /dev and say "hey, what can /dev do better than any other set?" I think they will find the answer to be somewhere between 'nothing' and 'die more'. The stealth nerf (to external mobs and adds too!?) ruined CD, TD was killed by ED, AT is now being messed with for a critter issue!?(whiskey tango foxtrot?), caltrops? hmm, it's not bad i guess, but in PvP is overshadowed by trollers in teams and laugh at in duels, bombs and mines - did somebody say DPS very slowly? and by slwoly I mean ******* slowly The dev secondary is a TOTALLY CONCEPT SET NOWADAYS, it cannot outperform any secondary at anything that would give it a functional edge (did somebody say "zomg the pools are better?")

Fair enough people still play it for fun and it's looks, but who decided that we had to add fun into the balancing formulae? Surely 'cos something looks great and different in the CoH environment it shouldnt be made to pay for its originality with playability? Sort it out and nerf energy and elec while you're at it eh?

Scuse the rant, just dont see the point in not buffing a set which obviously lacks

Ok last comment, i truely believe with my vast lack of knowledge about games and balancing, that if you doubled the damage of every power in the /dev set OR halved the recharge of all powers whilst doubling the buff bonuses (-speed, stealth, +tohit), /dev would still not out perform the other secondaries in any great way. That, to me my friends, is a bit serious.

Good points Bind.
Tbh, the only way i could see them having a "quick fix" is to throw Buildup in there somewhere, but also keep TD.

That'd definately make me look twice.

[/ QUOTE ]You don't need time bomb, does anyone here who is /dev use timebomb? The devs said that any changes, made to the blaster sets would mean that older players could keep the original pwoers and newer players would have to take the newer versions.

Keep Trip-Mine, that one's actually useful. Timebomb on the other hand, requires far too much setting up and pure luck to work.

[/ QUOTE ]
If you think that Trip Mine and Time Bomb are about dps then you've sorely misunderstood their use. AoE Alpha Strike.

Set up enough and you can vaporize a +2 boss before he deals any damage to you (requires a pull method that doesn't let him shoot at you immedately).

Used wisely they're nearly enough to call /Devices overpowered for solo play. Almost zero risk (especially when combined with CD and Super Speed) and plenty of reward. The only balancing factor is the speed.

I use timebomb! and i solo missions on invincible too and even solo whole groups meant for teams if they are an easy enemy, elite bosses have been dropped in an instant, actual fight durations can be cut to an absolute low versus mobs and by 10%-20% versus AVs.

The /dev side isnt team friendly when it comes to impatience, its not really pvp friendly at all because people arent as thick as the AI. After you have worked out the minimal amount of mines required for a mob a tank can herd to them and they can be made to go off at your choosing.

Its a rogue-like pve toon, i can lay 15*(2*superior damage)mines + 1(2*extreme damage) timebomb to do a group in 1 go if i wanted. Plus many other pluses in PVE most ppl are blind to when used in combinations with other sets of other ATs.

/dev is a great "hero" set but not everyones "kind of fun" set i get bored soloing i admit.

But as said its definately not pvp "duel" friendly but the possibilities for the heroically minded roleplayer in PVE far outweigh that imo. That said i have actually taken out a Firetank in a pvp duel with one.

To be fair a balance could be struck if thats the way the majority want to go.

PvP duels in CoX are not balanced and probably cannot be balanced, so that doesn't really matter

Teleport Foe tends to help. And those you'd have problems teleporting you'd have problems hitting in the first place.

I like Time Bomb, I find it useful, tbh I'd rather they got rid of taser or auto-turret for Build-Up. Devices may not be in your face all out damage, but I like it. I do agree it needs buffing however, the devs need to look at making the set more desireable.
