Is Total Focus very slow?
THE NUKE take THE NUKE...
seriously.. the Nuke.. and from my own Sonic/NRG blapper, and Jum will back me up on this.. not only does the NUKE kick [censored].. but meh.. we kick [censored] anyway
Total focus is.. Good. Case closed If you are more of a ranged blaster, you might have wanted to lose energy punch instead..
Raz: Oh.. I have the nuke I would never drop that is far too fun
Hammer: I don't really play at range very much because I like to be in close to use Shout and the cone attacks... I do like energy punch tho... nice and quick to use...
Total Focus
Pro : Insane Damage, Low End Loss, Disorients, Can be used as a fly-by (so you're out of melee range when it hits), Hits even if pushed back.
Con : Roots once animation starts, very long animation time.
Overall : Well worth it.
your avatar is awesome
Similar to what weasel said.
as a rule i say that TS (elec) is better than TF due to the AoE dmg and guaranteed ST KB, but the lack of PBAoE KB in TS means you can actually chain it without playing it situationally , solo bosses (stunwise too) and in pvp your chain is simply not damaging enough without it. I would take ur nuke over TS, but TS is important, not more important than haten i feel.
as a leaper, you should be able to joust this at least to be 10 feet away from the target, landing 50 feet away is overkill and counter melee productive imo.
i would say drop boost range, but i would say that as a sonic PB BR SS (sleep) is invaluable in PvE

Maybe I'll take haste at 35 then and Total Focus at 38 and see if I can fit amplify in somewhere in the 40's. I imagine the epics are... useless-ish?

[/ QUOTE ]The epic reses are awesome, i cannot overstate how much survivability u gain with utility + res shields on a blaster, especially solo. and in pv u cna mash scrappers more easily .
for me its a case of elec hold and res or energy res and click godmode, rest arent overly worth it for me personally although... ice sleep is nice solo, ice armour is [censored], hibernate is awesome o yes... fire res is sposed to be massive but i'm not feeling it tbh, RoF is for, erm, empaths and defenders.
so elec yeah

You'll only want 2 or 3 of them anyway so plenty of space for amplify

Total Focus is a lovely power. Yes, the animation time is long, but it packs a real wallop and will leave bosses wandering around in a daze.

Once I get a min, I'll send you the build I used on my Sonic/NRG Blapper when I first made him, when the powerset went live, it might help you figure out a way to fit it.

it is very slow but worth it. don't use it dircetly after you use aim and build you will waste 3 sec of the duration. use it at the end of the buffs.

I'd never use it after either tbh, unless its AV/RB directed.
Even then, I'd be more interested in using PowerBoost then the others... it's simply not worth the buff-waste, and it's accurate enough as it is, with 2x ACC.
I mean, let's face it..
"Siren's Song": MAG3 Mez (sleep)
"Screech": MAG3 Mez (disor)
"Total Focus": MAG1 and MAG3 Mez (disor)
"Dreadful Wail": MAG3 (disor)
Add "PowerBoost" to ANY one of those, to boost secondary effects..
What's not to like there?

Erm... Stun?
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm a blapper with the ability the Tank/Scrap as well as Blast.. and Stun is useful for setting up things for the RAD defender I'm usually with (anchors), as well as it's a powerful move in itself.
Might seem strange to you.. but I play it effectively with my playstyle and it fits where I need it.. there's not much it can't Stun.

Well the only good aspect Stun has is that you get it earlier than total focus, other than that TF is like 100-1 better. TF actually disorients more (with the chance disorient) or at least the same amount (TFs 100% chance to disorient). They both have about AS slow activation. They both have AS slow recharge.
The difference is that TF does whopping damage and Stun does zip. You cant use both in an attack chain and plan stacking disorients. Too much activation. No, Ive tried that. Id much rather recommend Sonics ranged disorient, whatever it was called.
I used to talk about Stun but now I think its the only stain in the otherwise marvelous energy secondary. There must be something better to pick (I hated stuns activation time)
EDIT: btw I think herobuilder exaggerates Total focus' activation..

Working my Sonic/Ice Blaster atm only 22 atm but those numbers are the ones I have from Hero Builder, as ever not sure about the accuracy but I would say from my experience the Mag on Sirens Song is about right it is very good and a life saver PvE. Like Plight I am not sure about Mag 3 Stun as I thought that was only on things like TF but since that is pretty much all that Screech does it could be right and it doesnt have the second hit for Mag 1.
Cheers,
White

Depends on how you play it tbh.. but I never really have much of a problem, if any.
I generally use Stun for select situations and specific mobs, that require it. (Sappers/Bosses/etc) I've also found that compared to "Total Focus", it Disorients every time it hits, without fail, to all but EBs/AVs.
"Low End Loss"
lol?:P
Mmmmmm Sonic/Energy goodness.
Stun may be a good idea to stack with the ranged stun, but a PB + Screech break through Acrobatics and is quite easily stackable by itself anyway.
Take Total Focus definitly, 2 Sonic moves (Probaly Shout and Scream) followed by Total Focus= Silly damage on a ST.
As for Epics, really a personal preference is best, I went for Force.... Mmmmmm FoN goodness.

Yes I do Raz, lovely quick animation, with no messy knockback and disorientated foes to run away from.
I love my Sonic/Energy ^^
I just hit 32 with my Sonic Blast/Energy Manipulation blaster and I'm trying to think what powers to take next. I always had it pretty clear in my head what powers I wanted but after taking my nuke (which I love!) I'm now having to rethink the build slightly...
The problems with the build are that 1) I don't have haste and I think the recharge may be handy and 2) I don't have Amplify (not really sure how this hasn't made it into the build yet).
So, I've got two choices. Slot those two powers in at 35 and 38 or respec and try and remove something out of the build to make room for one or even two of the powers.
If I took them at 35 and 38 my worry is that I'm missing a great attack in Total Focus (I'm not worried about losing out on boost range as I'm never far enough away from the mobs to worry about needing a little more range). So... how good is Total Focus? I've only had the power for an afternoon on my Stone/EM tank, but I respecced it out as I felt it was too slow in a Stone Tanks attack chain (plus the animation time left me hanging in the air when I could have been taunting). Will Total Focus on a blaster get me killed more often than not as I run through the slow animation?
For the record my build is:
All the sonic powers except the first attack (Shriek) and Amplify
Power Thurst, Energy Punch, Build Up, Bone Smasher, Conserve Power from Energy Manipulation
Fitness (Swift, Health, Stamina)
Leaping (Combat Jumping, Super Jump, Acrobatics)
