A tank for PvP?
For sirens Inv/SS is a machine. The only thing that will take down a good one is serious gankage, slows, or domination. Honestly the easiest, most fun toon I have played in there.
For level 50 there are numerous viable combo's. Any combination of fire/ ice/ inv/ and /em /ss or /stone would be great solo.

Ice/EM, Ice/SS both work nicely
Fire/EM for two-shotting stuff fun at later levels (FE+BU+ET+TF)

Have to agree with everything said, stone melee seems to be very unrepresented in pvp its a very good secondary.
Fire/SS a great combo in sirens too

Indeed
All the defense sets (invuln/ice/fire) have there adventages, fire has firey embrace (+dmg) very nice power indeed, invuln has res to repel, unstoppable and dull pain which comes in handy. Ice has slows, Resistance to slow debuffs, Chilling Embrace (great slow, debuffs damage), Energy Absorption (Replenishes endurance and foe -end) and also Hibernate for when ure a bit low on health.
As for the secondary sets, Super Strength, Energy Melee, Stone Melee, Battle Axe all have plus points which make them good, just depends how you wanna play and if you are going to be part of a team or solo.

What plus points does battle axe have? Im trying to see it but I just cant.
EM for burst damage and SS for sustainability is how I see it.
My INV/SS has crazy damage and hits harder than my scrappers.

Axe has knockback/up/down, the damage on axe also aint to go un noticed i find some of the attacks quite powerful. But yeah i kinda see what you mean

Yeah it seems to have a couple of highish attacks and +5% acc on some attacks but its still outpowered by SS/EM/Fire/Stone.
Hmm seems war mace needs some love, you know I cant remember seeing a mace tank before.....

I seen a few around, a few PvP specced inv/mace tanks buzzin round some where too
Id have thought that now they have re-ordered Maces power choices it would have been quiet a nice set. Damage comparable to Axes but doing Disorientate rather than Knockback/up which I would have thought would be more useful in PvP.

Mace does both disorientate and KB, however, it does not have damage still..

Errr don't mean to be picky X but Seri's SS not EM Ok so i am being picky Carry on.
i really have no idea about tanks in pvp but i did see a ss/stone brute lvl 41 and his rep was mega high.i lost to him in a duel and he told me he had not died in war bug yet due to granite armour. there was like 2 scrappers and a blaster ganking him and we wernt leaving a scratch but neway lets not go off topic. im really surprised no1s mentioned stone armour for a tank becoz this brute was crazily over powered but hey thats just lil old me maybe stone armour dosent work as effictively in pvp on a tank but i must say rage combined with granite and hasten was brilliant and his knock out blow just finished me and inspired me to give ss/stone brutes a bash

As far as I'm concerned a duel against a perma-granite tanker/brute should end in a draw before it ends in the defeat of the tanker/brute's opponent - anyone with an ounce of mobility should be able to stay out of the tanker/brute's melee range.
I tried out two tanks during the test server lvl 40 RV event - a Stone/SS and an Ice/Ice. The Ice/Ice was 1,000 times more enjoyable than the Granite build I had for the stoner. Hibernate, Ice Patch, Chilling Embrace and the other ice powers combined for a lot of fun whereas using Granite all the time sucked the fun out of playing the stoner. If I ever get my live server Stone tanker to lvl 32 I'll only be using Granite as a panic button, not as a perma-shield.

In Soviet Russia, mission farm you!
One of the things I don't understand about the Invulnerability set is how Invincibility works in PvP. I thought your def bonus was derived from the number of attackers hitting you.
In PvP I always envisage fighting one or two people at a time max and therefore receiving a very small def bonus.
Is this right or am I mistaken?
Also in a straight forward damage comparison SS vrs Axe?
I played an Ice/Ice tank in the RV event on training. Although I was not a huge hitter, I was practically unkillable. Ice primary + Ice Slick + Aid self .... I only got taken down by 2+ dominators laying on thick and fast mezzing, combined with a few AS. I once had nine villians around me who simply gave up trying to take me down...
Aid self, Aid self, Hoarfrost, Aid self, Aid self...
Oh, finally got me into the red have you?
Hibernate...
Back to square one folks...
Aid self, Aid self, Hibernate... and so on.
I think the thing is, that Ice level 9 power is rather underpowered in PvE, but is simply the best level 9 Tank power in PvP. Granite is frankly useless... at best it lets you draw, but Granite tanks cant fight for toffee. Unstoppable is pretty rubbish - you just wait for it to drop. Rise of the Pheonix is ok... but Hibernate is just silly useful. The amount of effort it takes to take down an ice tank is ridiculous, and then they hit hibernate - and you have to start right back from square one and... get this... manage to take them down before Hibernate recharges again! (which isnt to shabby with 3xSO in it).
well i was obviously mistaken if stone tank/brutes cant fight for toffee lol.this is an interesting thred but what i would like 2 know is if we have come to a conclusion on the best tank for pvp!!!! oo oo and also my friend is currently lvling a ss/inv tank and would like 2 know if he will be any good in the later pvp zones(warbug,RV)
My mistakes... Stone tanks can fight...
But Granite will basically reduce your mobility, recharge, and damage so much that you cant fight for tofee. You will certainly only get into melee range if your opponent wants to, and even then, its unlikely you will be able to kill anything more than a squishy squishy.
Having said that, you will be unlikely to die I suppose. The only way of effectively destroying a granite is end drain, which they have no defence against, which leads to a detoggle.

Hello All,
Probably quiet a naieve question this, but is there a viable tank powerset combo for PvP?
The obvious one appears to be Ice/EM but are there any others? Also does anyone out there have a successfull PvP tank or should I just forget the whole idea and choose another AT?
