Im looking to make a new troller with Mind as the priamry.

What secondary would you say best complement the primary.

Miss Marvellous is Ice/TA so i dont want TA again.

Seduction my LVL 50 defender is a bubbler so I would like to trys something diffrent though I would consider bubbling again.

Thanks

My current Controller, Hawkshaw, is Mind/FF, but I also did a build test with Mind/Storm during the RV-event before Issue 7 went live.

I found that to be an enjoyable powerset, once you learnt how to effectively control some of the more 'enthusiastic' Secondary powers. I had a Powers/Slots build at one point, so I'll dig around and see if I still have it.

Im considering storm, thought it looks a tricky set, which is good as i like a challange.

Ive not realy seen enough people use it in the game as well to form a judgement on it.

Storm Rocks.

The missus has her storm defender to (iirc) 26, and it is very enjoyable, and challenging set to play. For a controller, it just gets better - apart from gale, there aren't any horrible powers in Storm, and all of them add more pseudo control to your arsenal.

You get a toggled slow, a team stealth toggle with resist to F/C/E, freezing rain - (-spd, -recharge, -def, -res) also has some knockdown too. Hurricane for -tohit, with a smidge of repel (combining nicely with TK), an aoe disorient, tornado for knockaround and damage and lightning storm for damage and -end.

Add in the mass of control you get with mind, and you could lock down pretty much everything. Anywhere. Oh, and O2 boost is an ok healother that also gives sleep resistance.

Kinetics makes a nice secondary since you have decent damage and sleep/confuse powers which make it easier being in melee (I love Melon Baller's sleep/TP/Fulcrum combo).

I guess Rad would also be nice since you could have perma-confused debuff anchors.

CoX 50s: <ill/rad> <ice/ice> <fire/kin> <grav/sonic> <ice/storm> <earth/kin> <kin/elec> <cold/psy> <thugs/dark> <fire/dark> <dark/elec> <night widow> <EM/ninj> <mind/icy>

I'd say kin, rad or storm, personally prefer kin.

O2 is really handy for dealing with stuns too. Dunno if it give Stun protection (I suspect it does) but it removes Stun effects on teamies.

Storm is a wonderful, messy set. The only thing I'd say against Mind / Storm is that there isn't great Freezing Rain synergy due to the minute damage from FR messing up Sleep & Fear to a lesser degree. But the same is true with my Illusion/Storm and its still lots of fun. You just have to be a little proactive with Hurricane to keep em bunched up.

Go for kinetics, that way you can keep using telekinses and restoring your endurance.

I have a mind/kin. The reason I like this combo is that I am only taking the self-buffing powers from my secondary. I found that with mind/storm there just wasn't enough power slots to accomadate all of the powers I wanted.

Empath is another good choice if you like team support and it is possible to play without Stamina (freeing up 3 often vital power slots) compensating intially with lots of end reducs, then Recovery Aura and Hasten by 28. You can also pick up Geas of the Kind Ones around 28-36, which is just in time to power Telekensis

I'd go rad secondary personally.

gievn the current AV/ gm situation a rad debuffer is very handy although rad/ kin / storm are all nice

Id consider that forgotten off sets - sonic - myself. A bit similar to bubbling in some respects, but with some tasty -resistance debuffs, handy for team and for solo. If you ever contemplate soloing, sonic is highly useful for upping your damage.

Id avoid mind/storm myself - lightning storm, gale, freezing run all screwing up your fear/sleep effects... I gave up at lvl 22 with that combo.

Mind/Rad has got to be the most evil combination for pure lock down if you can tolerate running choking cloud. Add EMP for a spectacular "nova-hold" and things wont be moving. And you can do some pretty nifty things with telekenesis on the anchor pulling the entire crowd into a corner of debuffed madness whilst your AM keeps your end problems at bay. And irresepective of the reduction to AV end rate, rad is probably the king of AV slaying.

I've found sonic to be the least solo-friendly secondary for controllers. Nice for teaming, but really not great when you're by yourself (just respecced out Liquefy after finding it to be an almost worthless power, even when fully slotted).

CoX 50s: <ill/rad> <ice/ice> <fire/kin> <grav/sonic> <ice/storm> <earth/kin> <kin/elec> <cold/psy> <thugs/dark> <fire/dark> <dark/elec> <night widow> <EM/ninj> <mind/icy>

[/ QUOTE ]I'd recommend sonic to any controller but mind, mind will not benefit from the rings and the AoE -res due to the lack of pet.

And Disruption Field probably works best with Fire since the imps are the only ones who are really in melee most of the time (also works well with decoys).

Has anyone tried an earth / sonic? that seems an ungodly good synergy to me...

Pet has resistance defence - buffed up by sonic to i dont know what...

Pet generally melee - hey ho! disruption field ahoy!

Hey that useless liquefy power? mag1 knockdown isnt it... ummm.. how about using that ontop of an earthquake???

Depends upon the level you are facing - +3s and its fine methinks, and at level 38 thats probably what you will be facing anyways.

Thanks for all the advice guys but i finally plumped for Soinc, basicaly due to it being uncommon.

I like to buck the trend, plus I dont solo at all so there will always be a team benifiting from the buffs.

Rad just wouldnt have fit in with the concept I had in mind.

Kin is a great set and I think if I want already working on Little Ms Marvellous who is a kin defender then this would have being my choice.

Storm looks a very intresting set but I think I will roll a storm defender instead at some point.

So thanks again for all your advice guys
