Can't people just sign up here?

The link you posted leads to an error as we don't have accounts there and don't think people will really want to sign up to another SG's forums.

Sorry, an error occurred. If you are unsure on how to use a feature, or don't know why you got this error message, try looking through the help files for more information.

The error returned was:

You do not have permission to view this board

It doesn't take long to sign up, you only need to make the post for signing up and then check back periodically. It just makes admin for us so much easier than having a thread on here. There is also an email address set up especially for this event. To avoid it becoming a spam magnet I've put lots of spaces in it...there are no spaces in the actual addy....

If you don't wanna use the forums use this....

But it does get you a whole lot more email addresses...

Which is pretty much the problem most people are going to have. I signed up to it with a dummy hotmail account but can't see many people wanting to hand their adresses out to a site just to sign up for a competition when it can be signed up to just as easily on here.

Posted

Eh? You really think we'd go to all this effort just to harvest a few e-mail addresses? Seriously, what would be the point in us doing that? We'd get maybe 20-30 addresses and completely alienate a community we're proud to be a part of...

It's gonna take a lot of organising and doing the sign ups via the avenues we've chosen will make that burden a whole lot easier to deal with. At the end of the day, this is for fun...and 3million Inf and a unique forum title. Nothing more and nothing less. Sign up to the forums if you want or send me an email via the address I detailed....or don't.

Will take the dont option then thanks.

Just a question... why no kins? They don't get Siphon Speed until level 6...

It's so awful to sign into someone elses forum. I mean, how could this be possible. Having fun in a event doesnt mean anything if i have to sign into something. Look at my huge tears :,,(

A bit less of the sarcasm please Anarky, I understand the point you are trying to make but thats not the way to make it.

Seriously though...what the hell is the problem with sending an email or spending a few minutes to sign in to a forum? Are you people really so paranoid about someone nicking your e-mail address that you'd refuse to enter the competition on those grounds alone? We are a gaming clan...not a criminal syndicate and we are trying to put on an event that might just be in danger of being enjoyable and fun. If I wanted to harvest email addresses there are lots of other sources that require a lot less effort and yeild much better results.

If you are really that paranoid and suspicious then fine, sign up via this thread...

It's not paranoia; it's simply that I'd rather not receive unsolicited emails. Also I can't see any reason why an official race shouldn't use the official boards.

Condemning views is not what forums are about, and I suspect that last post will have alienated a lot of casual players who just want to have fun without it being 'sanctioned' fun.

That is the 'hell of my problem'.

ok so ur not joining the froum Y i still don't get the point it's not part of NC soft promo a Mox thing that is y the leader's of MoX asking u 2 do it

OK. Firstly, we are not EVER in the habit of sending unsolicited e-mails...EVER EVER EVER!!
Secondly, I apologise if my last post came across as somewhat aggressive, that was not my intention. I was just absolutely baffled at the suspicion aimed at MoX with no apparent reason.
Thirdly, you're right, this thread is now ruined thanks to the posts of a few paranoid people. Thanks.

why no forcefields? lol

Posted

Yep, personal forcefield...during testing I watched a toon stand in the middle of a bunch of level 14 trolls and take everything they could throw at him for a good 30 seconds...then he moved on and aggroed another group...they could hardly touch him as well!!!

Oh and the question about Siphon speed, absolutely correct!!! If you'd have asked me yesterday I'd have sworn blind it was available at level 4!!! Must have been overlooked from the early days of this idea where we were thinking of a level range of 5-10...er...thanks for pointing that out LOL

OK it's easy enough for anyone with any forum knowlege.

1. Click on the link
2. Look for the 'Register here' link and click on it
3. Sign up and wait for admin to validate your account, they are validated daily
4. Once validated, sign in and post in the thread marked 'Gumball Rally'

Believe it or not, we are giving up a LOT of time and effort to do this for you, to make a fun event where we can have a laugh, Hell we're even giving away 3 million influence and making a movie of it. So please take it in the spirit that it is given, and if you don't want to get involved, then don't spoil it for those who have spend a long time putting this together.

I'm the leader of MoX, we don't do anything with emails, they are asked so you will get a reply notifying you when your account has been activated. If you are so pararnoid, here's a tip.

Shhhhhh, don't tell anyone, but...

*sideways look*

Come closer..

Make an email address up.......

Does this mean:

Ok, so you're not joining the forum.. Why? I still don't get the point. It's not part of NCSoft promo but a MoX thing, that's why the leaders of MoX are asking you to do it.

[/ QUOTE ]
?

If so I can ask you:
If it's a MoX thing, why are they posting this on the official boards?
If it's a public thing and if it's only for 'the fun', why are they taking subscriptions _only_ on their forums?

When the 1AT made public events (Easter Egg Hunt, beach Part-Ay and such) we posted here and let everyone see the subscription...
I don't get the problems of taking subscription in here nor the need of them being in a separate forum.
Maybe some form of eliteism?

Basically, not everyone in game trolls these forums, we have posted here to let those who do know about it first. We will be announcing this event periodically in Broadcast in game as well (but not enough to warrant it being called spamming). For those who don't use the forum at all, there is the e-mail avenue.

We are organising this in our own time using our own resources. The event will be staffed by our members who will be giving up their time to try and give YOU something different to do in the game. That is why it is a "MoX event".

I really can't see what peoples problem is with this and I have to admint that all of this flak is totally unexpected. Makes me feel unwelcome on these boards. It seems that just because I want to do things MY way using MY facilities with which I am familiar I am treated with derision and suspicion.....THAT seems like elitism to me.

It's not a MoX thing, it's us organising something for the whole community.

[ QUOTE ]

[/ QUOTE ]
Because thats the way we can manage it, judging from previous experience, any threads organising anything here will quickly get swamped by spam / trollers / those who simply want to cause a stink because they can. We don't have admin rights and quite frankly why should we use an NCSoft forum for something we are organising, seems to me it's taking the mick a bit. So to answer your question, it's on our forums so we can make sure all those wanting to join, do. Think of it as a service.

[ QUOTE ]

[/ QUOTE ]
That is 1AT, this is MoX. You do it your way, we do it ours, MoX is an very established guild with 400+ members, our forums are used heavily, so it's only natural that we use them for this. Please don't start another MoX / 1AT [censored] competition. It's not about that, so why do you think it's a threat to 1AT, thats how your post comes across.

I see the problem, even if you don't.

Its also publicity for the SG. Once your on their forums you could take a look around... see if you like the place, maybe join them.

*Checks for a pulse on the nearest MoX member*

You must admit though, that the impression some have been given here has been of "We will do it OUR way and WE will show YOU how it's done."

This isn't good public relations. It's setting you up as "THEM" before you even start.

Having run these games before I can tell you that these mild questions are nothing to what you will receive on the day. Asking Bridger/Rockjaw how many tells/blind invites/accusations they received during the 'simple' RPS tournament will give you a small idea.

Simply put, the organisation needs to be as transparent as possible, and ONE spokesman is needed. So far, the level of agression levelled at the relatively few comments here has made quite a few of us simply not wanting to attend; whatever your honourable intentions are.

May I suggest that this post is locked/deleted and Korrigan or Speedhorn posts a list of ALL the rules and possible contact details before this descends further?

May I also suggest that you both have some aspirin ready, as it is a LOT of work.

What Silver Weasel said - running 3vP taught me a valuable lesson about how much work is involved, and that was only 42 players (Xanthus got the other 42 )

In 10 minutes on the opening night, I received over 90 tells, 17 blind invites and enough chatter in local to make the text seem to blur.

As to the forum things - these are the official boards for the game we all love, so most people would prefer a simple post in a signup thread to a forum they are already registered on - path of least resistance and all that.

Good luck in your endeavour, and hope it goes smoothly for you. I'll have the rum on tap in pocket D, you'll need it!
