What's this about "better troller sets"? Are you saying Mind, Plant and Grav are better sets than Ice and Fire just because the AoE hold is ranged?

[/ QUOTE ]

not at all, just referring to the fact that fire and ice only have 10 secs duration.. with SOs it looks like this:

20 sec duration / 8 sec recharge = 2.5 holds simultanously resulting in Mag 6 at most (not counting hasten, aux buffs, domination or aditional hold like AoE holds)

grav has 15 sec duration so with SOs:

30 sec duration / 8 sec recharge = 3.75 hold sim. resulting in Mag 9 at most (same conditions as before)

u wont hold a scrapper with mag 6, but u will with mag 9 in general... ofcourse combining hasten and AoE holds will change the stats, but according to my own play-style, i prefer good stats that is repetitional...(?) er.. im not english speaking a cycle that can be used repeatedly without temporary buffs.. meaning.. using ur single targetted hold, ie a gravity dom/troller can hold (if he hits and survive) a scrapper with 3 hits, and as previously mentioned, u cant perma in PvP (think ur immune to a new hold for 4 secs or something, but dont sue me if the number is incorrect) then u can easy re-stack the hold over and over again.. a fire troller cant.. he only has one chance then ie hasten runs out..

regarding usege of toggleknocks, they arent as usefull, since they only drop 1 toggle.. but blending that in while building dom is very good...

There is a hold supression that kicks in, Im not too sure what it is but a powerboosted controller can whack on enough holds to permahold me much to my dismay. I presume the supression ends before the hold has actually worn off, im not sure on the dynamics of it.

if u want a good solo squishy go for a non regen stalker

[/ QUOTE ]

After I hit 22, my non-regen (Nin/Nin) Stalker was no longer a squishy... and after I hit 38 I can last longer than anyone on my team, PvE or PvP. Last month I was the only survivor in a teamplant and had to solo 3 psionic EBs because they wiped out the whole team including several brutes and Masterminds. I'm not trying to boast, just defending Stalkers. What they lack in HP, they make up for in some astounding DEF powers once they hit SOs.

Er, where exactly are you getting these facts, a hero planner? As far as I know, they all have same duration, recharge and magnitude, which scales slightly by level. I can confirm this is true of Plant, Ice and Fire, the rest I haven't tried.

Dr Death, all this info is wrong.

All Dominator single target Holds have a duration of 12 seconds, all same magnitude.

It seems to me in general Ice itself is one of the better sets for PvP, at least on paper, mostly for the insane amount of -Recharge it can generate.

In Dr Deaths defence I did check the herobuilder (not definative I know) and it did have ice hold as 10 second duration and grav as 15, if we actually had information in game regarding the powers (accurate info that is not like the crap we actually ge in the power info) we could make builds not based on guesswork

Hero Builder is wrong. All the controller sets single target holds are identical in everything except animation.

This can't be true... you only have to takea couple of trollers through outbreak to see the difference. Try Earth and Mind, take both single target holds. Mind does much more dmg than Earth...

Different damage type dude, mind is psi damage where earth is s/l damage. Mobs have different resistances to different damage types. In the case of outbreak psi is lessly resisted so gives the idea that it does more damage.

Well, this isn't really true, you can't perma hold anything in PvP

[/ QUOTE ]

You may want to tell that to Double Control who had my integration running perma held after about 30 seconds. his hold was cycling back and locking on me again before the first hold was dropping

His holds would've supressed eventually. You cannot perma-hold anything in PvP.

Yeah, those couple of seconds with suppression are oh so useful. Can hardly do anything before kicked right back into mezzed state.

And don't play the 'lolol u pop teh braek free' card, heh.

actually the earth hold is the worst. It has no effect on targets above aground, therefor you need the -fly in pvp if someone has protection against holds :P.
