Teenage heroes
I'm sure the Pocket D could host a non-alcoholic concert once a year. Maybe hire Shakira for a performance...
After all, 17 year olds are only a year away from being the most prolific consumers of club beverages...it's important to hook the demographic early on.
OOCwise what I think happened with RG is that first we had Fusebox and that frosty teen who preceded wonkas Spearmint, then Pest popped in and pyro with Invy and I joined the bandwagon with High Voltage and pretty soon we had a lot of teenagers RPing in GG. Adults doing adult stuff made us hang out a bit to the side of GG, then we started hanging out in KR and while chatting on a rooftop there we decided to call the group RG.
Man I miss RG.

So was it a case of a couple of teenage heroes chatting, then someone's friend thought "what a great idea!" and created a teen hero to join in, and pretty soon people were creating teen heroes specifically for the RG?
Anyway, a few times during the coming week I'll be hanging out on a rooftop over looking GG with a crate of Cresta cola if anyone wants to join me!

The temptation to bring back HV is big, but I hardly play CoH any more. I mostly support the game with my sub.

Yeah, Fusebox was the first to arrive and started chatting to the adults, then a few more teenagers arrived and started talking to each other, being the only teenagers there. And it went from there.
Oh, Brighteyes, you missed out Catch, Nyteshade and Rad-Active. I can't remember if Rad was an 'offical' member though.
Catch and Rad where pretty close to being with us from the begining, Nyte and Demondim joined us very soon after.
Edit: Actually I think catch preceeded HV

Nope. The teen heroes were created first, only after several weeks did we consider forming a group. We didn't create characters for the group, we made the group for the characters.
Edit: The "frosty teen" was Iceqube...
A few things with pocket D, one would they serve alchohal at all? and two a 17 year old hero would be 4 years away from drinkiung( america and 21 legal age..) adn three since its a heros club i asume it would allow 17 year old heroes (much like celebrities under 21 in american night clubs), some clubs have under age sections and/or ways of identifing persons underage at clubs. I think pocket D would be good place to vist as a teen and the fact that villians are there two would make it interesting(kinda like scallies in a club lol, or rock kids in a hip hop club, or me in a rock club for that matter..) , but at the same time i doubt you would go to a club and then go "hi, can i buy you a drink, and maybe later we can go beat up some thugs?"

What? That's my standards pick-up line IRL...
No, but you might go into the club, have a couple of cokes, dance a bit, get chatting to some people & find out you have like-minded interests, share some jokes, have a laugh, roll out into the City as a gang feeling vibed up with your new friends AND THEN kick some thugs!

You didn't, but others did. There was a period when being in the Rooftop Generation was "the in thing" and everyone started creating teens... except me and one or two others. This was the first case I can think of where GG was "going to fall apart due to a clique."
From the outside looking in, it seemed that the SG was a relatively natural offshoot of what happened. A group of teens with powers forms. They start meeting around GG, and then (as any number of groups did then) decided to naff off to a rooftop somewhere (to better exclude the outsiders). They start doing some missions together. They form an SG based on missioning together.
The SG would actually make more sense these days when they could have set up a base, but SGs are easy to use when forming cliques (even non-exclusive cliques), and they will continue to be used in that way for a long time, I'm sure.

That was how I thought it had started, which was why Wonka's comments confused me a bit.
I'd love to see something new get started, whether as a loose affiliation of individuals or a proper SG I don't care, I just want somewhere where the teen Heroes & Sidekicks can go and be themselves with young people who think the same way... In-character at least!

*shrug* I got fed up of the attitude of various people in the Union roleplay community and I no longer roleplay there.
One of the attitudes I got fed up with was the "we should go roleplay somewhere private where we can be ourselves" attitude. I thought it was highly in character back when the RG did it, and I also thought it was devisive and uncaring of other people's feelings. Just because something is IC, doesn't mean it's a good idea. In fact, sometimes you need to rethink what your character is doing there when what they do spoils the fun of other participants.
There's a bigger RP community now and it's better able to support large groups going off by themselves. Also, it won't affect me because I barely ever log in.
So, do as you wish, but be prepared for the consequences.

I wasn't really involved with any of the Rooftop Generation, but from what I recall it was more of a fad than a clique. Teenage heroes wasn't so much the "in thing" as it was the "interesting idea" everybody wanted to try their hand at. These kind of fads happen in RPs. This day it's teenagers, the next it's lesbian catgirls.
I also seem to recall, albeit vaguely, that part of the reason why the Rooftop generation found their rooftop was that GG was getting awfully busy , with the teenage angst threatening to drown out other plots and character interaction. (Partly because some of the teenage characters were very talkative.) The people who actually went rooftopping would know better than me, though.

I can understand that point of view, but I don't agree personally. If characters need or want to talk in private, I see nothing wrong with it. Not everyone plays with everyone and neither should they. So whether the char I am not playing with stands two feets from me, or is in another zone doing their own thing it matters little to me.
I prefer to roleplay somewhere a little quieter, solely because I find it extremely hard to concentrate when there is 5+ conversations happening all around me. It's nice to stop by Galaxy Girl and see people, but it wears me out very fast. But even if I am somewhere in "private" it doesn't mean people couldn't approach me if they wanted to. (Please do )
To get back on topic, I like Pocket-D as place for "accidental" meet up some night. GG would be fine as well, but personally I don't think I could get that much out of it due to the aforementioned local-spam-overload.
How about next Thursday?

Nope. It may have started as a fad. People thought Fusebox was cool and created other teens, but it very rapidly became a clique. An IC clique mostly, but a clique all the same.

Nope. When the RG left to go to their rooftop, there was nothing left at all since about 90% of the regulars had created teens so that they'd have someone to talk to.
I believe there were a few complaints about the RG "taking over GG" which may have prompted a move, but I don't think so. The initial idea was to go hunting together in King's Row, IIRC, and it became pretty much nightly. The reason given for doing it was that "the teens wanted to get away from the adults." The majority of the teens didn't talk to the adults at GG anyway (hence the clique formation).

I am not sure this is the point Ravenswing tried to make. It became the 'addiction' of the moment, and alienated a few people from an existing group, thus causing rifts. These people played other alts as well, but got so absorbed by these new teen heroes, that they became, or so it came acorss, very inconsiderate of their friends.
Plots got abandoned in the middle of a breakthrough and a lot of people simply lost the thrill to roleplay.
Some did not take into account, due to their enthousiasm, that they let other friends down. When this was addressed, the message was; Come play a teen then. This is very specific roleplay and not everyone's cup of tea, but it was a swallow or drown situation, or at least, so it came across to those who did not play teens in the RG.
Sure, people have the right to do what they wish, everyone's free to play as they like, where they want, but if you have other engagements and promises to people you cannot hold cause you'd rather be off somewhere else doing something else, it's not fair on those you let down.
This reflects your average rebelious youth who says; I am damn well going to do what ever I please regardless of what my parents or anyone else older and wiser say to me, hence the uncaring and devisive remark.
That's my 2 inf on it.
I think i haven't posted here yet, but i do have a teenage hero...not sure if i'm going to RP with her, but the post's titel caught my attention
let me introduce you to Chibi Jewel
"Hi all. My name is Daniƫlle."
"I'm thirteen years old and the daughter of Denise, who to most people is better known as Star Jewel."
"I came from the future to help Paragon City in its battle against evil and other bad stuff."
"I'll see you around."
Hero: Star Jewel(50)
Associates: Gemstone; Storm Lock; Star Sparkle; Dawnshade; Lunara; ...more

I don't recall anything as dramatic as all that, although things certainly got quieter at GG for a little while. 'Course, I'm a lobster, so what do I know?
I could get the logs out, if you like, and tell you exactly how many people were left...

Would be fun. It's always interesting to calibrate fuzzy memories against hard evidence.

Damn you, lobster! Now I'll have to spend time actually finding the reevent log files and hunting through them.
There's a high percentage probability that this may take a while. I currently feel like I'm sitting in a hot bath while in my office, I have a house to sell, and stuff to do at home. And I don't have complete logs on my laptop.

I guess the thing is that we went there as heroes, not as teenagers. If you get what I mean... This was about a year ago, and GG was quite different then to how it is now. Each went along to be pleasantly surprised to find other teen heroes attending...
I'm sure you'll cobble something together... But you wouldn't be able to use Pocket D, you'd all be underage!
