Adolescent Assembly?

It would be interesting to have some juvinile heroes too.

or possibly some geriatric ones?

Well actually Ironclad is officially a geriatric, being in his 80's.

I was actually thinking of an old Archer alt

thanks for the compliment on the name but it makes no sense for another group to use RGs name.

[/ QUOTE ]

Sense could be made a-plenty. Tons of reasons could be conceived why another group might ICly use the name. (My personal favorite idea is a villain supergroup who takes the name because they want to tarnish it.)

However, if people OOCly would throw a fuss over it, then that's the real issue, and the one that would merit stepping off the idea. Not because it couldn't be made to make sense.

Ermmm the topic has already been resolved. It is a great name, but its not ours to use.

Nuff said.

Posted

I'm well aware of that. I was not talking about the resolved issue. I was talking about another issue that had not been resolved - that of an incorrect statement being made. The statement had not been corrected yet, and thus was an open issue, so I corrected it.

Actually there is no IC reason another group could use the name, as the name is still in use.

Brighteyes' statement is completely correct.

Ok guys, can we please return to the thread topic?

I asked, understood the reasons given and moved on. Can't you?

Product Placement! That's an old Pepsi strapline...

Here's a little bit of idea for you making a teen group...

I know the current fad is to say on the boards "Hey let's make a group, sign here if interested", but perhaps if you're looking to have a group like the RG you should form in a similar way...?

The characters that made the RG had hung around at the statue and got to know one another before the group formed. They had started to go off and do their own thing (eating fast food on a rooftop in KR) and it was only after all that that they decided to consider bonding together as a formal supergroup. They were a band of friends that became a group, not a group of strangers that attempt to become friends.

Since when it is impossible for one group to steal another one's name ICly? X-Statix sure as hell did it to X-Force, took over X-Force's name against X-Force's wishes.

That's kinda what I have in mind. I'm not gonna recruit or advertise a Teenager SG, just wanted to get an idea of who out there plays a teen

It's been impossible since the beginning of the game. For RPers and gamers alike.

Let's think, how is it impossible...

Because in this game, the city authorities don't allow two groups to use the same name. The city records still show that there are heroes registered as part of the Rooftop Generation. As far as the city is concerned, the RG is still a registered SG, so no-one else can call themselves that. QED.

It doesn't matter if it can be and is done in the comics, it can't be done here. End of story.

Ironclad...
Maybe you should organise a day that people with teen characters bring them along, not for some supposed IC meeting, but just a purely OOC decision to play that teen alt on that particular day and just see if you can form friendships.

So it's not pure IC RP, but you'll have to twist things a little to get something moving. It seems there are a few people interested, now you just need to whip them to do something!

Your logic is seriously flawed. Do you think that every supergroup calling themselves by some name is registered with the city? Furthermore, your "registration" example has little effect on the Rogue Isles. If a group of villains wanted to call themselves Rooftop Generation, do you think the Arachnos registrar would really give an excrement about whether a similarly named group existed in Paragon City? I doubt Arachnos works that closely with the officials of Paragon City.

But we ARE talking about Heroes in Paragon City. What happens or could happen in the Rogue Isles doesn't really have any bearing on the subject at hand.

If anyone wants to discuss the IC copyright/marketing/reputation issues of a collective of Villians or Heroes taking on the name of an existing, registered Supergroup, or the OOC examples of the same, then can we please have it in a seperate thread, and not in one about Teenage Heroes in Paragon City. Thanks.

To take Wonka's advice....

Who's up for a teen night at GG?

Yeah, definately.. I tend to hang around their looking like a lost sheep anyway. How do you wanna arrange it? A notice on a social board at school?

Um, part of my point is that it isn't arranged IC... It's an OOC-organised state of IC serendipity. Just totally coincidentally all these teen heroes happen to turn up at the same time on the same day. They get talking with one another and friendships start up, and then maybe, after a few weeks, they might say "Hey, why don't we all sign up as a supergroup together?"

So it's more:

Strangers => Friends => Group

Rather than:

Strangers => Group => Not all friends

See?

Okay, I see what you're getting at.

How about this then, someone posts up an IC notice on the Roleplaying forum. A flyposter somewhere in the city, or a penpal ad, something. Start something here first to build relationships?

Noooooo! No IC! No IC organisation whatsoever!

If you organise IC then you're constructing something before the people get to know each other!

The whole thing is an OOC contrivance. You know what you're up to, but as far as your character is concerned there just happens to be lots of teens at the same time for no explainable reason.

Don't force the friendship...

Posted

But as a teenager I was ALWAYS trying to make contact with people who felt like me. Penpal ads, Little notes in my fav books in Libraries, etc. Isn't it the nature of teenagers to feel isolated, but at the same time seek a sense of tribal connection? Why should Super Teens be any different?

Um... Can't say I ever did that...

I'm not saying you can't do that too... I was just giving ideas based on how to make a teen hero group based on how the RG came about.

Posted

But the RG came about without a plan, didn't it? We alredy have a concept, so there is already a conceit rquired to shoehorn that group together. If we just got to GG as individuals, roleplaying as teens, then it's likely we either wouldn't approach each other or just wouldn't be there in the first place because of all the adults. We need a conceit to get the teens together in one place anyway.

Maybe Pocket D would be a better place for the Teens?

Doublethink!

It's a fix, you know it's a fix. But you also know it's not a fix, it's coincidence.

Doublethink is doubleplusgood.

That's why I was saying organise it all OOC. And how the teens that became the RG got away from the adults was by getting Up-n-Away burgers then sitting on the grass... Then they moved to KR... Let go of the slavish following of totally IC, fudge a bit.

Posted

Naah, I don't get it. As a teen character I wouldn't been seen dead at GG anymore. I've been there IC and it's full of adults and isn't the place I would want to go. Afterall, I wouldn't shoose to hang out in my Dad's loca pub, playing his style of music and having his type of conversations.

Coincedence is all well and good, but we have to choose somewhere where the chemistry is likely to happen. Not a fix, but more like playing the odds.

Maybe a villain organization captures an adult hero, and the adult hero community mobilizes to rescue him. But only the teenage heroes realize that the adult's teenage sidekick has also been captured, and in tracking down the place where the sidekick is being held captive, they come together to rescue the sidekick.
