Maybe we should try to list what we think is going too far and ask if the devs could include it?
I can only think of two things really, TP foe into drones and holding a person in some way on purpose so they get debt.
Bottom line is if we cant think of what rules should be in place and we play the game then why should we expect the devs to be able to going by complaints on posts?
Im really not disagreeing with you, but can you give me examples of anything else rules may cover please. A rule saying "No duels in PvP open areas" would be as lame as one saying "Nobody must attack duelers or spectators" IMHO.

I ll start with the end. If you read my posts i am really not a fun of duelling in PvP zones simply cause if i want to duel i will use the arena.
Still we cant really tell what rules we want in the pvp zones because we simply dont know the full plan the devs have regarding the PvP zones. Imagine if we ask for a no holding near npc's rule and the devs are planning to remove all debt from pvp zones.
To be honest i really cant think anything right now cause i am on a plane on a cross atlantic trip
It has been shown though that ceetain froms of abuse the devs try to fix such as the base tp issue and the base entry possibilities that existed when PvP zones started.
There are many weak spots right now regarding the PvP zones in Cox that need covering tbh in order to attract a lot of new players.

What class were you playing in NWN ? I never had much trouble with the shadowdancers, because after their first him i'd use Time Stop and acid fog, then cloud of bewilderment and thunder strike.
[/ QUOTE ]
I didn't PvP much (or even at all), and tended to stick with clerics since I was 99% of my time in RP servers. Clerics being as they are over NWN I could be a damage dealer when smacking stuff, heal, raise, and during RP a cleric was quite interesting, be it a good cleric or a lawful evil cleric of Mask
Even in RP servers there's some PvP, of course, but it has no comparison with real PvP. PvP over RP servers are true assassinations. It's hitting when unexpected for a kill. Not go to a specific map, everyone's ready for a fight.
Even so I could deal with SDers and be a major pain in their butt thanks to pumping the apropriate skills and some spells for a high-ish Listen.

This is a really discriminating point of view and i totally not accept it. You wanna tell me education has to do with how u behave in a PvP zone? Well fyi there are many non educated people out there that behave a lot better than people with university diplomas and are far more respected. Education has nothing to do with that tbh and i dont think if u have a Chemistry Phd you are bound to be more elegant or kind towards others.
[/ QUOTE ]
You're correct, English is not my firstt languange and the nuances show sometimes.
When I said education, in English it means 'learning-in-school'. Education, or educação in Portuguese means manners, what mother taught of not eating with one's elbows on the table, covering one's mouth when sneezing, giving our seat to an elder.
That's what I meant, sorry for the confusion.
So, what have we learned kids?
On the technicality of it all, yes, you're right. Duels are at risk in PVP. Badge hunting in PVP is at risk, and yes, you're right, it's free for all PVP goody ness.
Yes um. Technically.
Instead of spouting the rules over and over, just remember that sometimes it's good to respect other players. I've asked other players if they're AFK, stopping myself just after a Build-Up and ready to attack.
From a hero standpoint - should you really be so ruthless? From a villian sideview - aren't you being cowardly? Duels in PVP zones are in the moment things, I don't mind others jumping in if they aren't aware, but not intentionally.
Showing respect to other players and 'manners' (wouldn't call it that really - it's still resulting in fights) isn't wrong.

No problem i got confused cause english not my first language as well After reading your clarification i have to agree.
As probably my last post on the subject since opinions will not change and behaviours will hardly be different, I remembered something when it was mentioned to /petition about abusive language.
I was playing a MUD, text based game RPG, and though I wasn't that great at it, as in I didn' go for the uber mobs to make uber gold and rare items, I did play at it regularely and for many hours, so I had my share of fun. i'd like to help newbies with equipment since it was a game that every week would reset, and thus we'd love praticly all our equipment and have to hunt it over again.
Anyway, one of the coders of the game was a bit of jerk, a great coder but a terrible person. One day he uses broadcast and says he just created a new emote called Hiccup.
I, and several others, imediatly try it. Also imediattly there's a spam of of 'X has killed itself!' as the MUD had a broadcast when a player died.
Turns out the coder had made a self-kill emote and tossed it for kicks and giggles at the players.
A death meant a level loss, to me who played around 3-4 hours a day it would mean three days to regain that level.
When I, angry at the 'joke', cussed at the coder in question I got an imediate admonishing from another coder, saying if I cussed on shout once more I'd be banned.
So here we go, it's okay to do grief, but not to cuss.
As like what I picture a team of stalkers sitting at the entrance to a PvP area and killing all which enters, or using skills that push or knock back into turrets, drones, fences, etc.
That would be okay, cussing would be a /petition.
Meh.
I've played a few MUDs too and they tend to be run by jerks anyway, or at least, 1 main jerk and some cool guys who do the hard work, least thats my mudding experience.
Anywho, I dusted off a lvl 16 stalker i made when COV came out and thought I'd try getting the meteors in bloody bay. While there I see in broadcast "[censored] off, I'm not here to PVP, i'm meeting someone". I broadcast that a PVP zone probably isnt the best place to do that and he agrees. The stalker who attacked him invites me to team (and he turns out to be Krunch from the forum ) and we hunt the hero in question. I find him getting ready to duel, on and off there are about 2 heroes and 2 villains there. We leap in, kill one, leap out, they get annoyed, I go over the issue with duelling and point out I may have been more gracious if he hadnt swore over broadcast. These players actually arranged to meet in bloody bay instead of the arena so I wasnt feeling bad at all about killing them. The most interesting thing is when krunch has to leave and I continue killing. I TP in get a resting blaster at 1/3 health, TP out and the others laugh about it. In the end we actually parted on good terms, although i'm not sure how that came about.

Agree with Krunch pretty much.
It's your zone too dude, go mad.
Duellers, dancers or people that don't want to be attacked in a PvP environment... what the <expletive removed> are you doing in a PvP zone!?!?!?
Get lost or get defending.
Ignore the Abuse, close chat box and start hacking, blasting or whatever it is you do. My latest trick? Ignore nitwits and attack at full power
NB: Duelling is fine to do wherever but in a PvP zone, you know the risks; tough.

Hehe. After the 1st one a bit of shouting started, (followed "real" pvp), the craziest line being "I can see now why people were giving u abuse". I didnt know i'd gotten anymore abuse than usual, but I dont see how politely using the zone as intended would warrant abuse from anyone. Oh well, looks like i have macros to work on

Eeevery time I read threads like this it makes me want to go and find some dueling people and smack em' silly. And if you in return want start hunting me down like a rabid dog... well go ahead if it makes you happy. The problem is that because I think that offence is best defence we will just end up hunting eachothers till the end of the world

Nah. I was referring to Afulias comment about hunting solely people who have [censored] her off. In my experience it can become quite boring after a while. For some reason I tend to rise this kind of behaviour in other players (don't ask me why. I even take regular shovers so it can't be the smell). Goes like this. I [censored] you off for some reason... so you see me and you try to kill me and because I know you want to kill just me I will have to defend myself and best way to do that is to attack you again. It will end up us just fighting eachothers and possibly missing all the other fun in the area. So attitude like this is possibly not the best way to react.... although very human way. Again I don't pretend to be above this kind of childish behaviour but I was just stating the facts

Well if someone attacks you and kills you I think most ppl will try to come back and kill the attacker. Other then leaving the map like a big jessy how else can they react?

Personally it depends on the afk player. If it is someone who was shouting their mouth off but five minutes ago (and let's not forget how likely that is), then I will kill him because if he doesn't show manners to others then why should others show him any.
I won't stay out of duels if someone can't be bothered to do more than bash the keyboard ending in something to the effect of '1 on 1!'. If someone can't be bothered to humour me then I can't be bothered to humour them. I was under the impression that if you have no power over someone and want something from them, then it's in your best interest to treat them well. I'm not looking for a speech, something as simple as, 'Please don't attack, we would like to duel' without the lacing of non compliance equaling barrages of abuse, works fine for me.
Although I believe that anything goes (other than griefing) in pvp, I do agree with Frazzle too. However I just don't think a lot of people who pvp deserve anything other than their head placed firmly up their rear.

Maybe you'll have more luck in a different PvP zone? Don't know if you've expored this option or not. Just a thought...
If that doesn't work either you can always bribe me to go into one of the pvp zones with ya. That usually results in a horde of heroes screaming "It's Gany lets beat him to a bloody pulp!" Within seconds you'll see 8 or so heroes around my corpse, then just take your pick and go to town
