What's the most damaging blaster?
Most set gets AoE attacks, but only fire has good damage AoE attacks bar the nukes.
Fire is by far the most damaging set around, it gets you loads of aggro tho, so you'll need to be in a decent team to be sure to stay alive and bring some mayhem.
Nrg has some nice damage aswell but I dislike it because of the knockbacks and it's only single target(Explosive Blast and Energy torrent are just knockback, you can't possibly get decent damage off them).
My 2 inf.
AoE damage Fire/fire. No other blaster can do as much damage, since AoE gives much more damage than single target.
Single tager damage is prolly fire/nrg or ice/nrg.
Best solo blaster in missions. I would say Ice/nrg. These can prolly clear missions the fastest, if thats what you are looking for in damage.
Highest AoE damage with safety. Elec/elec. In a solo situation without protection these will prolly do the most damage.
Highest frontload. Ice/devices cause of stacked Tripmines.
A Paragon Defender
So what would you say about the rifles?
I'm using it and so far it seems good but I have noticed the damage doesnt seem as high
Rifle is the lowest output weapon, it has nice high level AoEs and 2 low level ones, however it is mainly smashing/lethal which all villains get a resistance to from a relatively early stage.
If we're talking primaries only (no build up) then fire fire can dish the damage faster earlier, plus the lack of knock back means that the mobs just stand there and get flamed.
Energy primary is pretty good too but more single target damage.
Ice slows lots therefore giving you time to heap up damage, it is also a quick set.
Electricty, as has been said before is the middle ground for damage and control fire being one end and ice being the other.
If we're talking with secondaries then the added bonus of power boost along side aim and build up makes it the most powerful asset, however on pure numbers I a, told electricity nudges it slightly.
About Blappers. Get a level 50 scrapper of whatever you want, let him one hit my blapper (Blapper) see how much it hurts (with no armours etc just pure damage) then let me one hit him... Blasters played well in close combat are the most destructive force in the game. If anyone wants to test this hypothesis we can do an arena test of it sometime, non combat just experimenting, my money is on power boost, Aim, build up Total Focus doing more damage than any other attack out there bar a Nuke... build up and head splitter possibly coming in next (this is of course ignoring the overly uber Assasins strike)
Well scrappers do actually have more damage when they crit. A blapper can easily maintain a much higher damage, but once in a while you get those crits and blaster damage is under crits.
The most destructive thing is the game is a crit headsplitter, I think its the only attack left that can given special circumstances actually 1 hit kill anything in PvP.
bu + headsplitter < (powerboost does not enhance damage) aim + bu + Total Focus < bu + Headsplitter crit.

Yes, fire is "it" for aoe smackdown and shedloads of aggro.
I really should do something about this signature.
power boost does enhance damage... it boosts all seconday functions of any power for a give time, the secondary function of aim is a 25% damage increase... so therefore it increases the damage of the eventual attack especially when coupled with build up...
Fire is best for AoE crazy damage, as said.
Not blapping is reducing you potential damage output by quite possibly 50%. Why play a scrapper, when you could grow some balls and play a blapper ! (points to all the 'Empathy is Boring' threads around - at least you can give the empaths something to do.)

Just tested and NO it does not enhance damage. Powerboost enhances secondary effects, not primary effects. Damage is a primary effect.

I got screamed at by an empath cause I took all her healing power. I just pushed harder cause I had an empath backing me, if the team actually was in danger I would expect the troller to get heals but we werent. So I guess some emps like having nothing to do.

I'm not speaking of blapper, if I wanted melee I'd go play my scrapper, thankyouverymuch.
I was playing my sonic blaster, and though fun I find it.. lacking. I took it because of the controller-ish powers, sleep and stun, but I came to realise that a blaster is meant to do burst damage, and a lot of it (it's my opinion, others may differ from it).
Fire seems to be so spoken about, Aoe's and stuff, but I took a peek and it has what, two of them? Like any other set barring one or two?
Ice is good for single target, I got that, but what about smacking everything at once? Is Fire 'it'?

Personally, i'd say stick with your sonic. It's a great primary. My favourite by far.
I say elec...just...because
No seriously, I find my elec/elec blaster capable in most situtions, it's now leaned towards straight fighting with a good few melee attacks and knockback / telsa cage / immob with a few stuns flying around. Chuck in BU, Ball Lightning and Short Circuit, I think Elec is one of the best group clearers when you have a tank to hold your hand, or scrapper running about.
I have heard of good things about Fire, Power is always popular (hiss... ), I've been impressed by a few Archery, Gun, Devices, whatitsname blasters and Sonic I haven't seen much of, at all
Fire/Energy, as others have said. Due to the close range of many of the attacks in these sets (Breath of Fire, Blaze, Inferno, Bonesmasher, Total Focus etc.), a good tip is to seek out a Kinetics user. Fire/Energy Blasters naturally gravitate to melee range and a nice Fulcrum Shift can be a real eye opener with such devastating attacks.

Powerboost doesn't enhance damage. Damage is a primary effect, and Powerboost only enhances secondary effects such as tohit buffs, heals and mez duration.

Headsplitter isn't the only thing that one-shots. I one-shot blasters, trollers, corruptors, doms and MMs all the time with Eagle's Claw if it hits Crit, when combined with Build Up, best power for taking care of a cocky corruptor
Having played fire/fire a bit now I can say that none of my other blasters do so much raw AoE damage. Staying alive CAN be a bit problematic though. But it is fun if you have a good team. With AoE damage like fire/fire you can easily do damage of 2 blasters!...if you can stay alive that is

Recently started to play my fire/energy manip blaster again. Boy have they taken a lot of fire power off him. I had to snipe and use a fireball to take a yellow down, now that's just plain wrong
Snipe, and fireball for a yellow? Oh dear.
Nevermind, hold my hand and roll an elec/elec blaster, I'm sure we're the coolest blasters out there anyway.
Go on, someone mention 'ice' and I'll eat your face.

Well, for single-target destruction anyways, beats ice/NRG any day...
My Eng\Eng blaster is pretty cool, with good range and melee attacks. Have just started a elec\elec blaster to try out another power set. I'm not sue if eng\eng is the best, but I got no complaints.

I have to agree with Ebola, my nrg/nrg blaster is more than capable in most situations. Although when teaming the knockbacks can annoy other players i find they're pretty happy with my damage output, and nrg/nrg are handy in close as well as at range.
