Make the Robots look better!....

The Robots look a bit geeky

Make them look more human in shape and form!

I think its a good thing the bots look the way they look as we already have 3 roughly humanoid sets. I think its better that the bots stand out in the way they look and the other sets have there own identity for example the mercs getting the cool para drop upgrades.

Posted

Aye I agree, I say make the other sets a bit more different than making the bots look more human!

Eeep!

The only problem I have with the bots is their tendency to get stuck to each other, which wouldn't happen if they were human-shaped... but if they were human-shaped then I probably wouldn't be playing a Mastermind at all

Wow two trolls in one thread

Bots look funky as they are, mind I wouldn't mind if I could make them all look the same, make my minions look like minions or something. And I would love if the could be made less humanoid... Robot 5? Lord Torg? Hell I just want Gabber Robots

I'd like to have a set of Arachnobots

Would be nice if we could get a few options for the skin of our bots to choose from (i.e. shouldn't make any difference in performance, it would just affect the look of them).

But admittedly, that wouldn't be fair to all other types of Masterminds (there's dozens of possibilities for robots, but how many different looks for Ninjas can you think of?), so I can see why this wouldn't be implemented.

Weeeell...

Technically, that old white haired dude is Chinese (Shaolin) and Samurai, while Japanese, historically speaking are just about the exact opposite of Ninja

But okay, let's say they all fall under the heading of oriental martial arts. Now you just have to find one sub-type for each other category of MM henchmen, for each type of robot you can think of. That's actually an interesting challenge, so let's see:

Zombies/Undead:
lots of possibilities really. There's the whole undead thing (Werewolves/Vampires), as well as all sorts of ghosts and spirits and other spooky stuff.

Soldiers:
a bit more difficult... sure, you could give them different uniforms, but would that really give each group a distinctive look and personality? Unless you take a historical approach - say, various kinds of soldiers from different ages (Knights, American Civil War Soldiers, modern soldiers, maybe even some futuristic types). But it would be kinda hard to argue that they are all equally powerful.

Gangster/Mobster types (they'll be new with I7):
hmm... separating them by nationality seems the obvious way to go. You get the archetypical italian Mafiosi, maybe some irish Gansters (apologies to any Irish folks here, they just come to mind because they were bitter rivals to the Mafia in the 20s and 30s), what else would there be that's suitably distinctive and historically well-known?

Might be kinda funny to see what people can come up with, I'm sure I've forgotten lots in each category

Of the mercenary look I would love to se some Arachnos style troops. With out the shoulder/chest peace. Or what about Counsel style troops.
There are many groups that can be adapted to the categories of the masterminds pet types. It could certainly help Arachnos wanna-be's like my self. (and could you imagine the robot set with thoughts spider like droids?)

Clockwork are just ready to be a new mastermind set, or nemesis or even council mech men although would need some more mech variants for a full squad.

Posted

Clockwork could easily be re-used as an alternative robot set as there are already plenty of variants. Council probably also has enough with basic mech men and the assorted mech men bosses (or even the hoverbot!).

UNION @Flitz 50, Lead Hose 50, Red Rag 50
DEFIANT Rose Bloodthorn 34
VIGILANCE Captain Caledonia 20 - Yeah, I made toons on the French server coz we only had 4 back then (might have to transfer/recreate them on one of the US servers)
..and many more!

Thematically, Clockwork are quite different from standard robots - and I fail to see how anyone other than the Clockwork King could manipulate them.

SPOILER: COV LORE
One of the story arcs in City of Villains covers the Clockwork in the Rogue Isles are not actually controlled by the Clockwork King (too far away from his psionic control) and actually controlled by something local.

Specifically (if you don't mind spoilers) the demon under Cap Au Diable that Doctor Aeon uses to power the PTS.

It's all in one of Marshall Brass' missions.

Ah, yes.

So, a troubled psychic genius and a (SPOILER)giant almighty demon that's been used to harness energy to power an entire city - which to me seems an immensely tenous and poorly thought-out storyline with regard to the Clockwork anyway - (/SPOILER) can control Clockwork - that still doesn't exactly lend itself to Clockwork becoming player-controllable minions, does it?
