Are they the equilvent of the Hero Tanker?

'Coz that's what I thought they where gonna be like, but it confused me 'coz they're Attacks are they're primary powers, rather then second...

Am I wrong about the Tanker? Can someone correct me/explain for me?

Very few of the ATs in CoV line up directly across from a counterpart in CoH. I can see why you would think of a brute as a tanker, they actually occupy a space somewhere between tanker and scrapper (with Fury generation making them play unlike either).

The CoV "tank" is actually the mastermind (in much the same way an Illusionist can "tank" in CoH at a pinch) - you send the pets in and let them absorb the aggro.

Ahhh... yeah, thanks...

Must admit, I can voach for the Masterminds being ace Tanks. They don't get hit, and they anniliate everything in their way. (Only had one fight where my two bots and myself have lost. And that was against 3 Orange Lt.s and 2 Red Boss, Arachnos)

A brute is closest to a scrapper, but the nature of their inheret power, fury, means that they'll mostly be constantly moving from fight to other, not having time for breaks if they want to be efficient.

Brutes = Armoured scrappers who depend on fighting lots fast rather than criticals. They are great fun to play but until they can get stamina they suck endurance more than any other AT I've come across...

In a way, they play like a Tanker, but they're just Scrappers. Masterminds, although play completely differently to anything in CoH, are the Tanks in CoV.

Doesn't granite sorta kill the point of brutes? SMASHING, you can't SMASH if you can't reach your target.

Well that does help but I merely take at least one of my 6 kinetic buddies with me and I can batter absolutely everything in an obscenely short time I didnt build my granite to be a tank, I built him to be an unstoppable monster and to team if I wanted to solo I would play on my playstation

Load up on taunts, taking extra ones from the presence pool and make your enemy come to you.

I really should do something about this signature.

it all depends on what u want to do with your brute.
I use my brute as a tank.
I have a dark/stone brute and i suck up the agro, get my fury bar full and kill everything i c and try to keep my team mates save.

I have a Spines/DA scrapper and my End barely drops! It's only lvl 11 and I didn't take the spine pbaoe power, but still, I've had few problems. Regardless I've already started the fitness pool... but is this just a combo of powersets that gets much worse as you lvl?

Brutewise, pre-stamina, you have all the problems of a non-regen/SR scrapper and a tank thrown in. it takes until you get to stamina levels for the end-recovery powers in the assorted powersets to show up, and before then, you're liable to end up with as many as four or five toggles (if you take a combat toggle movement pre-req like combat jumping or somesuch). Pre-SO and pre-stamina, when you combine it with some of the primary powersets and their tendency to be end-hungry, and the fact that in order for your inherent to be effective, you have to be almost constantly on the move and fighting, it all adds up to a mess. One of the standard tactics early on is to only use some of your toggles some of the time, which is kind of sensible until you get to the levels where the bad guys do multiple types of damage (like ooh, say, Legacy Chain)

My Em/Ea brute, to use an example, will wind up with 5 combat toggles (CJ, KShield, PShield, ESheild, EnCloak) to be running, probably simultaneously, by the time I'm done. Later on I get an end-recovery power, to hopefully make that monstrosity manageable, but all the while, I'll be using the end-hog that is Energy Melee. At level 13, my endurance recover with all the necessaries running is only pitifully above break-even when standing. Even with end-recs in powers, the situation is quite dire in actual combat.

What the solution is, I don't know. Once we can get everything working and powered without falloff, we're sick. Before that, we're dancing a knife edge.

I'd have to say that stamina, End reduction SO's on my main attacks and an end recovery power (Oppresive Gloom)really put the fun back into my Dark/Dark Brute.
Before then i'd normal have the amount of toggles running (5 now) depending on the enemy and which insp. I had the most of.
Plenty of respites i'd just have Death Shroud running. Plenty of CoB's i'd have at least 3 toggles on.

I'd have to say at lvl26 i'm hardly ever running out of end (except when I forget to switch superjump off )

Now @Eskimo-Spy

I'm not evil.
