Is your emp/ friend /dark, by any chance ?
If she is, she can get a good AoE damage/immob blast at lvl 16, 2 levels before you can pick Burn.
[/ QUOTE ]
She's a Empath/Psi, and she's planning on being a pure empath, she says she doesn't like the role of damage dealer all that much, and would much rather concentrate on the empath side. -

team with an earth troller and burn is still pretty good
[/ QUOTE ]
Earth, Fire, Grav and Ice have AoE immob, not only earth.
But you can't pick a power hoping to find a troller to make any use out of it
[/ QUOTE ]
yes but earth has far more holds and is constantly under control of the mobs and its pretty easy to find a controller
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't want to think about designing my character on the off-chance I'll be with a Controller...
I will mostly be leveling with this empath, she (for the benefit of who said he, heh, only kidding) is officially my duo'ing partner.

Nowdays if you don't have Ice melee Burn is useless unless for shield generators, cyst crystals and malta turrets because the mobs take 2-3 tic of the damage and then flee away from it shooting you from a distance.
It can get really better when you pick Fire Sword Circle, Incinerate, Acrobatics to avoid knockbacks and maybe Tough and Weave to be tougher to kill
I don't think that the resistance from healing flames is worth it, I'd rather have the self heal available when i need the HP than 20% res every once in a while.
I hope the build you're following is updated with ED because nowdays 6 slots in a shield(like fire shield)are useless, you need only 3 with Damage Res enhance and maybe 1-2 with endurance reductions.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, if you wanna check it out.. it's the Tanker Guide Thread on the US Forums, page 8.
It is ED Slotted. And with this empath I level with, I don't need healing flames for it's heal, it goes from situational to never-needed with her around.

a player after my own heart
I must warn you. Fire may be fun but it isn't very deffensive. consume is a very valuble move so keep it, in fact, all the moves in your primary are valuable.
[/ QUOTE ]
Aye, I was warned about it not being as defensive, it being so offensive, I knew there could not be any way it could as defensive as the other tankers, but it's tougher then the average non-tanker eh? -
New SG. Raiders of Truth. I'm actually looking for experianced players to join the SG, at the moment... experianced is at least one of you're characters being 20+, this may increase as we get more members.
If anyone wants join, /t Igniter V.102, if I'm on.. I'll invite ya, if I'm not... simply PM me on the forums and I'll try and fit ya in... -
Within the Post-ED world of CoH, RPD is more useful then it was before. But I have it, mais... I'm respeccing it out, I don't need it.
-
Can this guy get any freaking funner to play?!
He's only level 10, and he already rocks. I LOVE every single skill I have right now. And my favourite skill so far is Consume. Oh, I just love the feeling that I enter a fight with little-to-no end and then just pop Consume and my end bar just fills up to full...
Blazing Aura, is my "end saver", I level mostly with an empath, and she noticed a tactic I use, actually saves me endurance!
It's the tactic of damaging a monster myself untill he has a sliver of life left. Then I attack a different monster, Blazing Aura then finishes him off. She was impressed.
Combustion, which I just picked up... so far, I'm having fun combining it with Blazing Aura.
Fire Shield, I don't need to explain do I? I love it.
Healing Flames. My least used power. But I still wouldn't swap it for anything. Since I level with an empath, I only use this against Vah'z, and then it's on Auto. And while the resistance on it isn't brilliant, it's good enough so that I take a bit less punishment. When it's one mob against me, it doesn't seem that impressive, but when the mobs rack up, it's awesome...
So, just asking... does this guy get any better? I'm following a build, and for some strange reason I don't know, but completely trust for some other strange reason, doesn't have Burn. Hmmm... *shrugs*... -
Hey, I've been hesitant to make a Regen scrapper or stalker now for a while, because I can't get the thought of my head that they won't be able to regenerate fast enough to deal with the enemies.
Can anyone dispel this? Tell me just how Regen can be? -
Yes, I did specifically ask for CJ and Superjump...
And while yes, I can see the reason for slotting Taunt. My taunt just has a taunt enchanement in it's base slot and I'm perfectly happy with it, it recharges fast enough and my Invic helps me keep the aggro.
While I do like you're build Unthing, I feel that Braindamage's advice was for me, better.
I'm generally happy, thank you for the advice everyone... -
Wow... that seems to be exactly what I asked for. Thanks alot...
-
Alright, so I didn't REALLY need to respec for my Tanker for I6, but I did anyways, and now I've kinda messed him up.
He's level 22, with the earliest he can get Stamina now is level 28, he has Teleport, I don't know why. And I have Hasten, a skill I use only when I'm under the effects of RA. Which is not all that often, Sooo...
I'm planning on dropping my Passives (I only have Resist Physical Damage at the moment), dropping Hasten, and changing Recall Friend to Combat Jumping, then Teleport to Super Jump. With the skills I'm saving, and the fact I'm respecing at level 24, I think I can grab Hurdle (stacks with super jump) and Health in place of Hasten and RPD, and then pick up Stamina at my level 24 slot. I don't want to lose my Attacks, though I can live without Jab.
At the moment my attacks are (all three slotted - apart from Knockout Blow) Jab, Smash, Haymaker, Taunt and Knockout Blow. I can live without Jab, but the others I would like to keep.
Temp Inv, Unyield and Invic I have to keep, I know that.
So, with this in mind, will anyone be able to help me set up a build? I'm gonna be probably leveling Insanely TINY all today, tommorrow and thereafter to level 24, then asking some friends from the SG to help me do my respec.
Any help will be appericated. -

Alright, what type of tanker has worked for you best?
[/ QUOTE ]
Invul/SS Tanker, I've never had so much fun
[ QUOTE ]
Heh, which one could take the most damage for you?
[/ QUOTE ]
Probably Invul, I guess... someone said today, when I was on a team with three tankers. "Iceburner (the fire/ice tank), is to deal the damage, I, (Granite-Warlord, the Stone/Mace tank) am there to make sure I don't get hit, but when I do, I've safe! And Insanely TINY (Me, the Invul/SS tanker), is there to take the damage 'coz he hardly takes any damage!" He was right... us Invul's hardly get damaged.
[ QUOTE ]
Best tank you've worked with?
[/ QUOTE ]
Iceburner, the Fire/Ice Tanker from today, he was amazing. He was ripping through the enemies like butter and he could also hold his own in defense-wise. -
Hey, I'm looking for the best solo scrapper build which can handle himself on the Highest Difficulty, I guess I will be teaming sometimes, but main focus on soloing.
Any help? -
If you need a VERY good guide for how to play you're primary: check out this beauty: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showf...52#Post4010952
I use this as my Ice Control Bible, and it is BRILLIANT. And it will echo the previous poster in saying AoE Immobs are bad, generally...
Block of Ice + Chilbain = Held + DoT Damage, I love this combo, as the DoT is doubled, 'coz of Containment. -
I'm usually not a fan of PBAoE slows, since they're high in endurance for usually, a really bad effect which does nout.
That's why I was seriously impressed with Ice Control's Arctic Air - Wow, the Slow, Confuse, Fear (kinda, makes them wanna run out), is brilliantly, and alot of people notice how easier battles are with or without it ('coz of it's huge end costs, I can't keep it up all the time yet), and with Ice Slick, it makes an AoE Virtual Hold... I'm impressed... very impressed... -
[ QUOTE ]
I'd throw it out anyway. It may stack with Air Superiority or any other knockdown powers the meleers are laying down.
Plus it deals nicely with any minions Mr AV has got around him.
[/ QUOTE ]
Good point: didn't think about that... thanks!
As a side note: Freezingly TINY made level 14 today! Finally got fly! -

Here is a list of the powerpools I have on my grav/emp, with the names of the pools in bold and the powers I've taken in italic (bolded for the power that I mostly took the pool for):
Fitness: Swift, Hurdle, Stamina
Leaping: Combat Jumping
Leadership: Assault, Tactics, Vengeance
Speed: Hasten, Super Speed
[/ QUOTE ]
Hmmmm... you're Leadership pool is confusing me: why Vengeance? As a controller you're job is to lock the enemies down to make sure they can't hit you're team. As with the empathy you're using as Secondary, any mobs which do hit them, shouldn't be too bad as you can heal them. With FF, which the previous poster is using, he shouldn't need to heal as much as his powers prevent damage.
I don't like any power which require someone to die to use it. It's a very situational power in that sense, and if you play correctly, it's so situational you'll never have to use it...
But, YMMV, if you could explain why you took Vengence, rather then something else. I'm open-minded..
Also: I wouldn't have chosen Combat Jumping myself, but gone for either Sealth or Recall Friend, it's a shame you can't use both, as that would put you over the pool power limit.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's all about three little letters: PvP. My whole build is geared towards team PvP, so vengeance is painfully awesome. People are going to die in PvP, like it or not, so I may as well make the rest of my team unstoppable after they die. The fact that most of the rest of my SG has vengeance as well kinda adds to the awesomeness of that power.
Combat Jump is for movement, not defence. Ask any melee toon who's fought me whether I'm easy to hit in PvP, and you'll probably get a negative answer.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well... giving advice for you're own power pool selections for PvP, is a bit misleading if he isn't going for an overall PvP build, if you've advised him them pool powers, and he's PvE... you should have said it was PvP, I get why you use them now... -
Well... I guess that's some end saved against AV's, oh well... *shrugs*... that's a shame...

I think the av's are resistant to knockback/down

Darn... that blows. Hmmm... you only think though? Does anyone know for certain? -

i don't know about ice slick, but my ice/ice blasters ice patch never seemed to work on AV's
[/ QUOTE ]
Hmmmm... I just thought that the controll Ice Slick gives you is extreme, I love it - now I have it - I FEEL like a Ice Troller, and not just some Ice Blaster that can freeze you into place. I know you can't solo-hold a AV with Block of Ice, I was wondering if ya could use Slick on em... -
Kinetics in my experiance is very, very powerful in the hands of either a Defender or a Controller.
I've leveled with a couple Grav/ Trollers and they seemed to be kicking some sweet *whisles*, so I'd say - go ahead and try it out...
If you're having problems... you can always roll a Ice/Empathy Troller(Shameless plug for my favourite Troller Build, but oh well!)
-
Hey, I was playing around with Ice Slick on my Ice Troller last night, doing the Frostfire mission, and many people commented on how the bosses hardly got a look-in 'coz they where effectively - bouncy balls - as I like to call em.
This got me thinking - this would be ACE against an AV, but I heard about AV's resistances being changed so that some Trollers moves have no/use effect. So, my question is:
Does Ice Slick's Knockdown and Slow Effect work on AV's? -
Hey, can anyone post me a build for I6? My brother recently gave me his scrapper, it's level 38, and he hasn't used his respec from I6 yet. So I'm looking to respec his build (it's terrible atm...), and take his char up and beyond! So, any help?
-
Whoohoooo! Congrats Dude! It's me! Insanely TINY! That stupid tanker you leveled with in you're 20's, haha...
Congrats! ^^ -
I'm going to sound like I'm trying to shoot this topic down: when in actual fact, I agree completely!
Anchor it on a boss, and bind a warning to others not to attack the boss, it's easier that way too. It's tactical, you weaken the boss, then wickle down the minions, then you can tackle the boss without fear of the minions overpowering you. I always found it much easier to fight one boss, then 10, 20 etc. minions.
/bind z "say Don't attack $target! He's my anchor for Darkest Night"
I might be wrong on the exact bind, but I use something similar. To make it easier. make a file called anchor.txt, put:
z "say Don't attack $target! He's my anchor for Darkest Night"
And then load the bind file, I don't know the exact code again, maybe someone else can help... but yeah, you get the idea...
P.S. I'm NOT trying to patronize either. If you already know this, then someone else reading the thread who doesn't, can find out.
