another build question :)
Here is a list of the powerpools I have on my grav/emp, with the names of the pools in bold and the powers I've taken in italic (bolded for the power that I mostly took the pool for):
Fitness: Swift, Hurdle, Stamina
Leaping: Combat Jumping
Leadership: Assault, Tactics, Vengeance
Speed: Hasten, Super Speed

Hmmmm... you're Leadership pool is confusing me: why Vengeance? As a controller you're job is to lock the enemies down to make sure they can't hit you're team. As with the empathy you're using as Secondary, any mobs which do hit them, shouldn't be too bad as you can heal them. With FF, which the previous poster is using, he shouldn't need to heal as much as his powers prevent damage.
I don't like any power which require someone to die to use it. It's a very situational power in that sense, and if you play correctly, it's so situational you'll never have to use it...
But, YMMV, if you could explain why you took Vengence, rather then something else. I'm open-minded..
Also: I wouldn't have chosen Combat Jumping myself, but gone for either Sealth or Recall Friend, it's a shame you can't use both, as that would put you over the pool power limit.
I took vengence on my Ill/Emp simply to help stop other people dieing. If the team as a whole is taking damage and one person gets dead then hopefully vengence should limit the amount of hurt other team members get.
It is awsome when it gets stacked too.

It's all about three little letters: PvP. My whole build is geared towards team PvP, so vengeance is painfully awesome. People are going to die in PvP, like it or not, so I may as well make the rest of my team unstoppable after they die. The fact that most of the rest of my SG has vengeance as well kinda adds to the awesomeness of that power.
Combat Jump is for movement, not defence. Ask any melee toon who's fought me whether I'm easy to hit in PvP, and you'll probably get a negative answer.

Well... giving advice for you're own power pool selections for PvP, is a bit misleading if he isn't going for an overall PvP build, if you've advised him them pool powers, and he's PvE... you should have said it was PvP, I get why you use them now...

Stacked vengeance is great in PvE too. I was once in a all rad corr team. Even if you have all mobs covered in RI, mezzing mobs will still get you (only thing that really will, but its not like they are uncommon). Stacked vengeance makes sure noone else dies. 4 stacked vengeance and you are unbeatable in PvE even against +6's.
A Paragon Defender
Ive got a grav/ff controller and currently i've opted to take just about every power from my primary except propel, haste and jump kick/super jump. i like jump kick but its not really that useful in a non-damageing character with lots of other knockbacks. I was thinking of giving up repulsion bomb (due to the fact that by the time its finally hit i may as well have run in with a different AoE or my repulsion field) the leaping pool and wormhole in order to take up either super speed or teleport, teleport friend and either the healing powerset (for res) or the stealth powerset. I know healing is useful at times but heal other is a bit useless and i don't need res a lot, however my personal forcefield makes invisibility less important. Anybody got any thoughts over which travel power and which pool i should take? (or even suggest a different pool)
