Advice on new blaster build

Ok peeps, my main was a blaster, fire/ice worked well, totally enjoy him. Done a number of other at's and it seems i am coming back into blasting again
I was thinking of making an elec/elec one but the more i read they seem to be hit hard by ED and Issue 6.

So what I am wondering is what can you recommend for a good choice of primaries and secondaries atm.

I am going to be teaming , not worried about pvp as frankly its not my thing. Also not too worried about melee stuff, but want to chain, high damage and fun

So what do you think ?

Cheers

Az

Energy/Energy, you know you want to

If you want a totally different view of a blaster after fire/, build an ice/elec blapper for the maximum single-target damage output.

Okay, I know I'm going to look stupid, but what the hell is a "blapper"? I'm guessing it's the ******* love child of a Blaster and a Scrapper.

spot on! A blapper is a blaster acting like a scrapper, i.e. melee for the most part instead of ranged attacks

[/ QUOTE ]It's the hero build with the greatest damage potential, a blaster that utilizes both his melee and ranged attacks, as the blaster melee attacks are very powerful.

hate to seem lazy, but go here: http://uk.boards.cityofheroes.com/search.php?Cat=, ask for user BindW set to no time frame, forum = blasters and 100 threads, thisll get u alot of info from myself, ovwyx and a few other elec ppl on the builcs, plus thoughts on other types of nice blasters.

also Az, as u are a mate, this blaster needs help; let me know

and it's also the potential build for getting your name engraved on a gold-plaque in all the hospitals around Paragon City

I would allso have to agree on a ENG\ENG blaster, but I seem to have evolved into a bit of a blapper now at lvl 40, purley unintentionally I assure you. When they give you powers like total focus well can you blame me, but I must admit it still feels a bit strange when you fighting side by side with a tank.

Ebola EngEng Lvl 50 Blst
Maelstrome DrkDrk Lvl 50 Scrp
SRobo-tron RoboTraps Lvl 47 MM
Flaming Radium FireRad 35 Controller

Yup, I was all about the range, even took Boost Range, but you kinda get forced into melee at 38ish when your two biggest damage dealing powers are both melee.

Fun though. Get some shields in your Epic set and you'll be able to tank, too

Well, I've always liked NRG as a secondary set, as there are quite a few good moves in it, rather than picking, say, the primary Immob, and build up, you could pick some of the boosts, Total Focus, and Bone Smasher. However, if you are an RPer like myself (even very slightly) it's kind of hard to find anything that goes with it except Elec or NRG Primary. In PvP I've fought a lot of Elec/NRG blasters and liked them.

*/Devs is supposed to be quite a fun set, and always comes in handy...

But to be honest, I'm not the expert

I'd have thought that devices makes sense RP-wise in some cases.. Character concepts are important to me even if I don't roleplay as such. Characters must make sense for me to enjoy playing them.

*Anyway I have En/En blaster and I like it very much. Instead of going blapping as a principle, I've tried to go for damage without flinching away from ways to do it. This means Im blapping about 30-40% of the time (I count power burst as such attack too). My friends tend to describe me as close-up-and-personal blaster, but I always start off with a snipe and blast as much as possible, closing in for bone smasher for the next enemies.

Oh and I do die a fair bit Less than I thought I would with such a playing style though.

EDIT: Oh and I have found a way to make a stamina-less blaster - always keep a kinetic handy.

Elec/Eng for the win Great primary damage, good secondary in PvE and massive SMASH! potential from the secondary powerset

Well you already done the ice secondary once but still, ice/ice is really cool. Looks great, naturally fits really well and the ice primary can hit suprisingly hard to single targets.

Ice/En for one of the better blapper builds tho, massive single target damage and great buffs.

I'm going to out on a completely different limb here and say, if you're willingto wait until i7 for it to get uber effective then give Ice/fire a try for sheer AoE death. With the pseudo pets of ice storm, burn and blizzard bieing effectby aim and build up, plus blazing aura and hot feet, yopu're going to eat through an entire mob like that! Stalth + SS in to the mob set them off with hot feet and ice storm sloted for some slowness and watch the mobs A) hardly move and B) die! Mean while you can hit combustion and Fire sword circle to add to the quick death and with blizzard and consume to get your end back, you really can't go wrong for fast mob elimnation. Purely PvE mind, but an AoE monster in the fullest sense of the word!

If you want to be conventional then Ice/energy has served me well and as great potential in PvP and fast target elimination from any range. Although he's no longer the snow ball spitter he was before ED, I've welcomed the fact that blapping is now the best way to go. It's alot of funand plenty of scope for tactics other than sheer ownage. Don't over look the AoEs if you do a PvE build; Ice storm can be a nice safe slow and frost breath can give nice close range death.

Hope there's a few nice ideas in there for you!

[/ QUOTE ]i dont disagree with this post, and im trying to be quick due to omelette cool down factor, but blapping was always the best way to go damage and control wise, its not a new thing . i just want all those people who think its the new thing to realise its not, it was just overlooked by them, and idont want to say i told u so, i want them to say, ah u were right to the people who knew . damn that emoticon : /
