Enemy - Short Hand

Clockwork - Clocks
Devouring Earth - DE
Freakshow - Freaks
Circle of Thorns - CoT (I'm surprised how few people know that one or I'm the only one using it)
Nemisis - Nems

Inspirations are often referred to by their colours
EG
want reds? - do you want a rage inspiration
need blues - I need a catch a breath

also
CAB - Catch A Breath
Train Mish - Mission started by boarding a train that take place in a seperate zone - normally lots of enemies and good for "Drek-ing"

[/ QUOTE ]

Dont forget these:

PP - paragon protector (crey bosses for those that havent met em yet )
MoG - moment of glory, often used in the sense of "dont bother attacking that PP, you wont hit him" or "dont worry bout my health, he cant hit me anyway and you cant heal me "
PS - Phase Shift
Phased - being in phase shift / intangible
quant - enemy with a quantum array gun, often used by a kheldian (WS/PB - see original post) to indicate you should kill him first as they dont like the taste of dirt in the morning.
void - void seeker/slayer/stalker, also has a quantum gun and even more deadly

now 2 others:
AS - assassin strike, the signature attack of a stalker, often a 1-shot kill
OP - original poster, the one who started a thread
OT - offtopic, placing a message in a thread that has nothing or little to do with the actual subject.

NEBODI HU TIPES LIKE DIS SHLD BE SHOT

I HATE it when people type like that. HATE IT. Abbreviations are fine, but there's no reason to type like a mentally challenged 12 year old who spends too much time on their mobile phone.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think this is quite unfair. Its not to annoy anybody its just a quick way of typing something. The english language evolves and will continue to do so.. might be an idea to embrace the language rather that let it tick you off.

I also feel that that was slightly exaggerated and I for one haven't seen anybody talk to such shortening extremes

Hya,

I think this 1 isnt mentioned either.

Gr Hans

BU = Build Up (power of a brute, he temp does more damage and has some acc as well)
ACC = Accuracy
INC = incoming (u have add, but i think inc is more clearer)

BTW i haven't seen the Leeroy Jenkins movie be4, but it's really funny so check it out if i want 2 have a laugh.

CoT can also be mistaken for the Cavern of Transcedence trial

I might be wrong, but I believe you're missing Respec out - otherwise known as Respecification / Trial.

My little brother (aged 16) does it on msn, and it's a lot faster than what I can type, but it's still a meaningful conversation he's having with friends. More often than not he's checking up to 10 different conservations at once so it helps to b abl 2 typ rly qwikly so i can get of b4 my bigbro fins out im using his comp

y = why or yes, depending on context.

[/ QUOTE ]

That one is so annoying, you often have no idea if the person is saying 'yes' or 'why', only they seem to know the context. People need to remember that the rest of us can't read their minds. Can't see the point of shortening a 3 letter word anyway - I've seen this one a few times but it's cmopletely unnecessary and can be very confusing

For what it's worth, I think text-speak is fine if used sensibly, though I prefer to use proper English myself when possible.

The one exception I do have to the use of text speak is in written reports and essays - e.g. some twit in a university group gathering the others' work together and submitting the whole thing in text-speak. Annoyed? You bet we were!

I get user requests submitted in txt. Then they wonder why they get ignored. If they aren't going to make the effort why should I .

n00b - A quick way of typing "Hi everybody, I'm an elitest 15 year old leet-speaking [removed]"

[/ QUOTE ]

Edited for ranting purposes! Anyone who useds the term "n00b" is on my ignore list about 20 seconds later. I hate that term.

Sorry... rant over <img src="/uk/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Some times, when you are looking for just the perfect word to describe someone. Only a "You N00B!" will do.

I'm sorry but I'm firmly in the "use of txt speak too gratuitously should be a criminal offence" camp.

Abbreviations are fine - even comic phonetic spelling to illustrate a mode of speech or accent as in "Jeeziz mush wossat all abaaht nen?"

However, describing "ne1 hu spks lk dis al da tym n finks deyr ndastd" as an "evolution of language that should be embraced" is pushing the boundaries a little imo. Far from being an EVOlution of language, it's far more a DEVOlution of language proliferated by a wannbe gangsta rap culture, where dropping out of school or being an illiterate narrow minded idiot is considered "da way of da street innit".

heres one you missed

oops - your defender, usually of the short green robotic variety has forgotton that he has siphon speed on and superjump and has just jumped off the building into a mob and been used as target practise. often seen just after the message of "eqw sssswwwww "

TxT speak also annoys me. So does writing using such things as - ` ¬ ~ # @ * ^ "( ) to make lines and letters. Making patterns with them is fine, but when people use them instead of spaces and letters in sentances it can get very confusing and become a headache for me and im sure a lot of others, to read.

I blame Microsoft - since they enforced password complexity by default on Windows Server 2003, we have a generation that types in P@55w0rd, and believes it to be a real word!
