all i can say is try something, if it doesnt work, try something else, use tactics, sometimes rushing into a group will get you killed, sometimes it works..

if your in a smaller team, like i have been, just the 2 of us, using tactics(not the power ) got us 6 kills 0 deaths in just 15-20 mins, its great fun.

i know i will have bad days, and good days in the PvP zones.

but it will get better as the Villains get higher.
Maybe start in BB as you'll have more backup

last night was fun in BB as the heros were in the villains base, i got 3 heros, and sry to the person that got debt after my AS, you got stuck in a phone box and couldnt move, then the 3 mobs killed you... did make me smile, but i couldnt kill them all before they got you.

I know you're trying to be helpful but the advice isn't needed.
Here's the scenario - i'm exploring Warburg, doing the telephone box thing. Land beside one (I have SJ) and discover one of those spider things so I have a pop at it, easy enough to dispatch and I'm just getting ready to launch when *bam* immobilized. A controller appear out of nowhere (obviously invisible and is closely followed by *I think* a blaster and tanker who start laying on the damage and I dont have any BFs (being a regen scrapper i got into the habit of just giving them away). The hold wears off and im trying to run and switch on SJ again when *bam* held again. Repeat twice more before I wind up at hospital.
Now, what tactics would have worked for me there?
All respect to the guys who dished out the kicking, their ambush worked well, to the point where victory was assured from the first hold, and it was three against one, they weren't taking any chances.
But NONE of that is the point and I didn't complain about it *too much*. My point is simply this; if everyone in there is acting like an [removed] all the time then expect people to start avoiding the place. How much fun will some people find it going in their to battle villains if they have to watch their backs for the heroes coming at them as well?
I'm not telling anyone how they should or shouldn't play but if Warburg becomes deserted then we all know who to blame

i was talking about tactics to attack and kill, not tactics while killing an NPC, i wont be killing any NPC's in warburg.

i tell you what i would have done, just completed the partol mission, used Breakfree, or i would have died and continued the mission, you cant expect to live for ages at a time live PvE, you dont get to always pick your fights.

you adapt your powers for PvE, so you also should really adapt your powers for PvP

what would be nice is a PvP build and PvE build tho, sometimes your unlucky and sometimes your lucky

its not like you couldnt respawn and continue your mission, you were out numbered, you have to expect it, learn from the experience and jump back in, eventually you will start to have fun etc.

heh! somebody called me a... well i can't say it here (another name for a cat), over the broadcast because he thought I didn't go 1 on 1 with another toon.

Don't get this stuff, its not as if I haven't reached the stage where I accept death in PvP, i have been planted several times, so getting another one isn't something that'll annoy me

guys - there couldn't be any more warning about what is going to happen in there. You don't like it - stay out of it.

amen to that for 1vs1 battles u got arena and thats why its there...warburg is not a 1vs1 place and certainly it wasnt intended to be one...so all this about warburg getting deserted is unbased..also the name calling u use is uncalled for...like its been said many times Warburg IS NOT the place for soloing and certainly is no paradise and i suggest u read the big red letters when u pick up missions in Warburg...is an absolute free for all area. And going without a team in there is not wise. as for tactics u could have gone prepared in a pvp zone with break frees so u could run

Let me try this again. When I heard Warburg was a free for all I said to my flatmate (who's also on CoH) it'll full of people acting like a***holes.
Please note, this ISN'T name calling, I'm referring to behaviour and not people.
It took about 5 minutes to have that theory confirmed and that's including sitting on the boat for 3 of those minutes whilst I made tea.

Now, everyone's right, the big red letter tell everyone what to expect and you're right if they don't like it, they should stay out.
My point is, and always has been - what if they do precisely that? And in large numbers. Its been suggested that's unfounded but I don't think so.
Consider the game, CoH. It was a PvE game, people bought it for that reason. Consider that in the time I've been on the arena has been almost always dead and consider finally I was in Warburg last night and it was actually empty apart from 1 bloke who after agreeing to a fight ran to the safe zone after his elude ran out.
(I realise CoH is quieter than usual at the moment because of CoV)
You put all that together and I see a real lack of impetus for free-for-all PvP Especially if you can't even spectate (which can be entertaining) without half a dozen people jumping on your head.

I may be being a complete drama queen, I admit that, and I really am not trying to tell people how they should play. You all pay your monthy subscription same as me. I just help looking at Warburg a little sadly.
CoH is known for being a friendly and helpful environment where people actually go out of their way to help their fellow heroes... except in Warburg where everyone's a complete b*****d.

and to all this i agree and u are right...only one point...CoH is still a friendly game PvE with some PvP addons...i will still go out of my way to help a hero if there is need but the same hero i will kill in Warburg while i am there having PvP fun....i not think it will be deserted cause there is more and more people getting interested in trying to make a team and have fun in Warburg..look at the weekend that went by...massive battles all over the place...right now many heroes focus on their villain side but as soon as possible u will see lots of action in those zones especially Warburg and abovel level 40 zone.still CoH is the game we have loved with the chance to hate each other as long as we are in Warburg having fun

I understand.
It's too early to tell what way it'll go. I just felt it an ominous sign when I popped in (looking for a team before I left the boat I might add) and there was a single forlorn figure on the beach.
Naturally CoV has thrown CoH into chaos and it'll take a while for it to settle down. Hell, once the villains turn up in Warburg there might not be an opportunity to start hitting on other Heroes, you'll need every1 you can get. I don't know.
What I dont want to see for the zone is either, it falling into disuse or get to the point where you don't dare step off the boat unless you're on an eight man team.

Someone said, Warburg isn't for soloing. Why not? If it's not for soloing does it follow that it isn't the place for a 2 man team, 3 man? Where is the line?
Although my real question is, are these large predatory teams hunting smaller groups going to put people off?

But you never know, a month from now you might not be able to drag me out of the place

hmmm u know i ll point out something...there are some SG's out there that have full PvP orientation so they are able to pull these big teams in Warburg..for instance Insanity Inc. is an SG that has clearly set PvP as a target as well so the members know this and of course people that apply also know this and want PvP...so we are able to pull full 8 people teams not to gank smaller teams but just because we not want anyone left out...fact is we accept challenge np and is well known that so far we have wiped out more than 1 team at same time during Warburg beach battles..is only natural when we enter warburg to be hard for other players since we move and kill (but not camp launch sites etc) and if someone will want to come against us will sure need a lot of reinforcement..the only other SG i know off so far that has officially declared PvP interest and involvement are the Paragon Defenders.

And that's kind of my point, you guys have become "the predators". The top dogs - which there's nothing wrong with.
My SG has no real inclination towards PvP and is anyway, mostly on CoV at the moment. It would be very difficult for me to muster any real opposition.
Now, and this isn't a criticism, but I would suggest that when you're winning all the time it's easy to forget that it's not much fun losing all the time.

I used to play a game called Planetarion, a big online strategy game. Hundred/thousand of players and it al played out in real time. An alliance was formed called the Concordium which became the biggest in the game - to the point where no one could stand up to them. You're only hope was that you didn't take their fancy and didn't come to visit - the result was always disasterous.
To apply this to our discussion. You're working with your SG. An eight man team like this, who knows each other, works cooperatively should, in theory, wipe the floor with any thrown together team and you become the Concordium - nearly undeafetable - great for you, not so good for anyone else.

I'm not trying to doomsay or anything but I can't shake the condordium (and other examples) from my mind and thinking that it could be SO easily avoided with a near minimal amount of restraint.
But time will tell. Ultimately I might be talking out my a***

i can see what u mean however there are some differences..we not the biggest SG in game etc but we pack a nice amount of very experienced players...the way i see it many times i might enter the zone and provoke people a bit so they team up and try take us out...thats why we usually hang out at the beach and not go further in cause we try make players see us maybe as a chalklenge and make a team and battle it out..still the loners have every chance to go around us and move deeper in Warburg. Still i see your point and is fully accepted however as time go by and villains get in Warburg range u ll see a change of things where heroes will try pack it together and try gain control of the area is all matter of time b4 higher level villains appear

i can see Scrappapocalypse really owns us.....in their dreams...but to get real a bunch of scrappers perma detoggled and in distance and perma held are not much of a threat are they?

Doesn't that Lightening Cloud dissapear when you get two/three shotted by mass Scrappers?

And I just know you can't use Thunder Clap face down...

u know of course that no scrapper can come near me unless mogged and if u mog there are nasty surprises waiting from the surprise basket and still i can go afk while you try hit and all u get is miss miss miss . I guess plenty of time to thunderclap and hold while one of my 3 clouds usually up detoggles poor scrappers

You played PA? Which rounds? My galaxy was number 1 for a while at the start of round 7, until two of our players got mistaken for multi's and banned (they lived in the same house and therefore logged in from the same IP). We still managed to finish top 50, even with 8 active players.

I have to say though, I don't remember The Concordium. When I joined the big alliances were Fury, Legion, Virus etc.

What was your IRC handle? I was ddrfreak, although if you played early rounds you probably won't know me as I didn't start playing until round 5 or so.

Can't remember what round it was, but I can tell you it was around 2000 and I was in the 2 rounds before you had to start paying for it.
