I was reading the global chat, and I have to say, what else do people expect? In a "real" situation, all those tactics (and worse) are to be expected (whether you agree with it or not), it is PVP.
Seems that a lot was learned. Which has to be good.
I didn't join in as I heard that death = debt. I don't want piles of debt just yet......
Glad the majority had fun.

A tank would have been handy FB. Them nasty villains kept picking on us
As to debt, did anyone incur any? I know Tridento didn't (died 8 times).

Only got a minimal amount (about 20K at lvl 50)
Nope, no debt for any non50 raiders.
Overal it was indeed the SpawnKill-tactics on both sides. At first Heroes were packing the entrance of the villains, several times when my loading window was done i was already dead on the ground. Then we just use.. Hyper Phase Combined with Stealth we managed to find a nice little spot wich nobody seemed to care about to _finaly_ deploy all our pets. MM's get their strength once they have time enough to get their pets going, untill then they are plain free-points.
From my little spot (stealthed) i could target several and send my pets in. Keep 3 MM's at spawnpoint and you have a full 21 player team ready to shoot anything that moves
Halfway i was pretty f00ked up about the spawnkills, i tried phase once and noticed thats the trick for MM's to get in safely.
But overall, SG-raids are imho stupid. Too small space, too much spawnkilling, too much hectic situations. Specialy on smaller bases 8vs8 would be serious overkill.

All good guys!
Hammer, If the goonies are up for a raid we would surely be interested in it, no real bragging rights at stake tbh 'cos we are all learning still, our base doesn't shoot at people either, it just kind of pretends to be an arena so far XD.
If you're up for it, throw some ideas at me time/datewise in game on global, you can join the SG channel too if you need.

Cool, Ill try to organize something. Im just a bit worried of the amount of people we Goonies manage to scrape together for this. Propably around 1 full team. Currently our base is not in raid configuration and I propably wont change it - you wouldn't want to fight in the labyrinth of the original Goonies raid base . (heh, we successfully defended against Paragon Defenders in our only raid so far...because base crashed and awarded victory for us hehe)
We should have this just for fun and check that the game doesnt crash on us.
Well done guys, both teams did well! Let the theme of this post be that we are one team, one SG, one family on CoX! When it boils down to it, we are gonna be all about stamping all over other friends's SGs for fun, and idiots' SGs 'cos it's PvP, and unknown SGs... because we want their IoPs >: ).
MCX: Yes people forgot pylons, tbh for warm up raids i dont see a massive need for them for a few reasons. 1) they burn salvage and 2) in order to place the pylons a team will usually have to dominate the battle 1st anyway. I would suggest as a defending SG we should try to set them up the second the raid goes active at as many locations as possible. People should feel free to build a raid pylon each but not to use them in practice raids.
Nova: np mate, RL is RL and another hero troller would have unevened things far too much imo
Cambo: the sort of feedback im after thanks for stepping in to accept the raid on the hero side! I must comment, and it's through no fault of anyone really, and I know dawnie is highly ranked in many union SGs, but the lack of a 'leader' figure for the hero team would have been unhelpful, the hero team were also newer players to the SG in many cases, and even those that weren't... the villain team consisted of people who have been playing together for a looooong time, the teams were made by villain balancing imo, if more heroes had higher villains there would be more choice. only yourselves can sort this out.
again i agree, remember pylons. the teams should definately make sure they are in the same zone incase a similar situation happens, remember; even if we build many more reclamators, the power source can be targeted for similar effect. i am not going to whine on, cos at the end of the day the SG is great overall, but the fact that people were almost totally disorganised before the raid just goes to show that our organisation/out of game time communication is poor sometimes. on the same theme, the attacking group actually get an advantage sometimes, when they wipe they are in a base far away and not attackable, this is where a buffer or 2 can really make a team of brutes unstoppable for the alpha, give the MMs time to sneak in and set up and the other support villains and damage dealers to follow without insta death. Learn to use the auto-doc.
atm we have room to add a second medical room, although if we upgrade to the larger room (+batteries and 12 reclamators not 4) we will not have room in the base for a small aux medical room, this will be a rpoblem maybe and we need to weigh up pros and cons.
Spawn killing, I hope everyone understands how hard a raid could be now, and that much persistance is needed, sometimes when defending a team may ned to regroup outside the base by choice, mor practice will forge our attitudes and prove our tactics right or wrong though. clicks all recharge when u leave the base in the same way that they do afdter arena matches, I think this is a bug and maybe it should be reported, in raids it is surely not WAI, infact I would rather play to our non-click reliant strengths than be battered by someone else's click-reliant strengths.
you did the right thing in many ways by asking people to not pwn so intensely, Cambo, although we can all see now that a slight falter and you can lose, though for friends it was good .
Fire-Beetle: we needed you, we always need you, and everyone. when a real raif kicks off and someone doesnt know what to do i will slap my head and ask how many practices they missed or how much arena or zone they have done to test their own mettle. there is no debt for player on player kills. btw all the xp came from base items and was minimal. you earn rep in raids too.
Sin: 16v16 on a small base would be mad, ours is the smallest size you are allowed to raid on. While i agree there are a lot of issues with it, my intention is merely to make us a formidable pwning force, and we all like to pwn people, those of you that say you don't just havent had chance to pwn yet. mashing players is much more fun than mashing NPCs and takes a damn site more skill often too. When there is not one SG that we can't beat I will say we can retire and be happy with that, but until then, it would be nice to say something, even if that something is "lawl, pwnzed1". you did great mate, and im grateful that you didnt leave (we would have lost)
Hammer: let us know mate, i'm sure a few of us will be up for it, although with their being less pressufe for 'everyone' to turn out i imagine we wont have 18 odd, more like 9.
I'd also like to say that every toon in the raid had a chance to shine, even the really low levels! with buffs and the auto sk there is some balance, maybe not total, but let me tell you, my 27 dominator was taking out squishies with a little help from others, dawnie's Little Hawk was causing havoc with debuffs and some holds and damage, and the lower level villains were all contributing. the lack of acc is pretty easy to compensate for, and damage comes with control imo. Nano-gamma made as much of a mess of my acc and res as a 50 functionally would, and the 50s trollers dominated when not culled my mars as stalker. my point is, everyone has a role to play, we just need to learn that role better. Spork, i hate your drains .
If there is enough interest here and on the global I will try and arrange another, keep PMing me days and times and just talk to one another about what you want to do, this is everyones group, i just kick you up the [censored] sometimes
Also a final note to the leaders, if you are a leader and you have base edit rights, you also have raid set up rights, if you want to raid, raid if there is a team on, but remember things like 2nd medical rooms, and organising backup city zones if you lose the reclamators. positivity and planning and team work make things tick over, all use some forethought and things could be fun without me even having to organise anything, the base is ours as is everything, make it work for the scenarios you are in, just dont sell crafted items .
Plight, and Plight Trawler is 2 years old today

Man long post but all helpfull. Yeah for future raids i think ill stick with X-16 its fun trying to flee and find places to hide at the start so i can get me bots up and running, also did sort of notice near the end that the more heavey of the pvp'ers where mostly on the villain side. Also i havnt checked the hero base yet are there any damages?
Just read on http://coh.warcry.com/ that there will be a 21st to 23rd july double experience weekend. Lets put up some great (over-night?) teams to ge the best out of this?

anyone who wants a team should look me up when im on, but you all knew that already.
Abu is talking about a regular Sunday raid... how does everyone feel about this, post your ideas here, yes post, that means you have to post a post, and ask the in game people to come read this, 'cos let's face it, do they read the MotD that says "please read the SG thread", heh. Well anyways, I'm up for this at least biweekly at around 5-7 pm Sundays.

What about the king of the hill i heard its on sundays now too? Although i do enjoy the base raids
btw nice seeing you out of the arena plight and into the pvp areas, also would like to say sorry for that first tp i did on you when you where buying stuff, i sort of just peeped round the corner, tabbed and then ran back and proceeded with tp and mass [censored] whoopen.
Also nice shot you managed to get me too . curse who ever confused me, was trying to run away from both you and my botts, who decided to skip attacking everyone else that was there villains and heroes alike and decided to attack just me . well i know the assult bott did anyway(and hes the one that packs the punch ) all in all good practice for team play which btw we need to do before king of the hill *nudge, nudge*
You guys are all really great
happy late b-day mate, hope I can make to the next
Message read and understood!
Am up for a regular raid day - but as pointed out, KOTH is scheduled for Sunday. Depends when you are looking to do it. KOTH is 8.30pm iirc. If people are disciplined enough to turn up at the right time we could do the raid at 7.00pm.
However we do it, pick a regular day & time slot and stick to it, that way it becomes part of a schedule. We could even start to have a weekly OotCS planner so people can see what's coming up. The trick is, getting them to read it

Too true mate not many peeps actually read the forum but the schedual/planner idea sounds like a good idea. As for the raid, the last one was over 2hrs long if anything its best if we pick another time and date maybe? or wait till KotH is done and over with.
5pm is too early for me, 7-9pm are my core hours, most evenings. Daytime weekends are poo from no on too...

Ok,
As some of you know, I've been a little seperate from things recently and some of you know the reason is that my very pregnant wife is having a hard time with this one.
She's often feeling ill and struggling through the day (remember we already have 3 kids, so it's not easy :S ) and as a result, this means I'm often "on call" so to speak.
Unfortunately this means I can't commit to things like I used to. I've already left Evolution Radio as a DJ for this reason (sure as hell can't commit to doing a set for several hours at a time now ) and I've done one TF in months now, that being the very short Respec TF I did with some of you all a few weeks ago.
As it stands atm, I've barely joined a team in the past couple of weeks and it's bored me to tears, so after a good chat with a really good mate (thanks Maz ) 'm trying to team a bit more, but more with people who know me and understand the fact I may have to drop from a team with very little notice.
The knock on effect is that I daren't join up for too many things. I would have LOVED to join the OotCS PVP Team, and also the Base Raids, but it's not fair to join things like this where it would have more of an effect for me to drop suddenly than just in a regular mission.
I'm taking a chance with the King Of The Hill, but 've discusssed it in advance with the wife and she is being really cool about it, bless her heart (she knows how much I love this game and could see how bored I've been the past few weeks )
So, basically, I'm sorry if I've seemed distant and apart from things, hopefully I can do more things as part of the SG, even if it's just teaming a bit more, and once things get more sorted (say in about 19 years when all the kids are grown up and have moved out ) then I'll be able to do more......who knows, might even be able to get my poor PvP scrapper to 50 at some point
Anyway, I'll be here tonight for King Of The Hill, barring a major catastrophe so see you guys then
We built this city on Rock and Roll!
RL comes first everytime anyway, whats up with the pvp team, havnt been able to get into the game since the latest patch, keep freezing whilst DLing with the error message "local area cable is unplugged" when its not actulay unplugged. so, are there any dates set for the pvp team and any advice on my little dilema
*
PvP team is no more, they dropped it like a week ago.

Was also funny how a vast majority of villains forgot their raid deploy disrupter pylons
[/ QUOTE ]
To be fair, in the heat of the battle such things were overlooked. I must admit that on the heroes side I don't think any of us had thought about the hero equivalent pylons. Our main focus was getting the villains out of the base.
That said I found the raid interesting and it does throw up a few pointers for future raids.
The team raiding / defending should meet up in the same zone before entering the base. Ideally the zone where the hospital is closest to the base portal. This became obvious when the heroes lost control of the medical suite and had to use the hospital to res. We were scattered all over Paragon and that made it harder to co-ordinate entry once the villains had set up at the entry portal.
Along the lines of above, another medical room is a must for raids. Maybe at the end of a long corridor with lots of base defence in place. It was a bit unfortunate that the villain spawn point was quite close to the hero medical facilities, that's where another option would have been handy. The two medical rooms and entry portal should be spaced as far from each other as possible.
Yes, people moaned about spawn killing, but it will happen. Better that it happens within these test runs so we can develop strategies to cope. As frustrating as it can be, use it as an opportunity to work out ways of overcoming it. Phasing before entry, co-ordinated entry, popping your uber powers before entry (going to hospital resets them all - was great for Tridento's Unstoppable / Conserve Power / Dull Pain), now's the chance to try it in a battle where SG pride isn't at risk.
At the end of the day, the heroes still managed to win! But as MCX pointed out, more due to villains forgetting to pack their full "away kit". Another thing to be remembered for future raids.
Definitely count me in for the next one, and I'll try and develop a meaner streak - still can't believe I said to the team "I don't think we should be spawn killing" early on in the raid.
Time to earn more prestige!
