Some characters get 3x the tickets others get?

I was running a map with a few 50's, doing some inf/minute calculations (you dirty powergamer you). I reported my per-kill rate, which was double what someone else was earning. Both people were in SG mode. We both tried switching in and out, and the difference remained. Both characters were indeed 50. The AE was consistently rewarding me twice the infamy of someone else. However, I did not think to compare ticket earnings. There is something going on with AE.

Was the other 50 level pacted? I've found that if you stay in a level pact at 50, it cuts your influence rewards precisely in half.

I don't believe it was pacted, as I do recall the person playing it before pacts came out. In any case, a few days later, the earnings were back to normal. No patch was released between this time either.

That's pretty damning. If this happens again, take some screenshots along with any other relevant data. Outside of pacting I can't think of any reason this would happen.

Perhaps there is some activity flagging going on. People sitting around doing less get less tickets perhaps?

Nope.

Last night my wife went AFK to go deal with dinner while on a map 2 minutes into the mission. I essentially soloed it on my Fire tank.

The mission complete message on my screen said that I received 681 bonus tickets (I didn't hit the cap for the mission). Her screen said she received only 173 bonus tickets because the rest were dropped due to her having hit the cap.

That means I earned 681 tickets while killing everything on the map and she earned 1327 while her character just stood there 100 feet from the door.

Her characters always gets more tickets than mine in AE...

Always.

As an update, I may have discovered something. The person in my 3-box trio who gets 3x trio has always been the second person in the team of 3, due to the order I always invite. By chance, that account client had a rare crash to desktop and when he rejoined, he was person #3 on the team. Now, the new second person on the team is getting the triple tickets. They have been getting triple since they have become #2 on the team, and the old #2 is at #3 now and to normal tickets. I've done 2 or 3 missions this way.

So it could be team position.

Whoa, that is totally insane. I hope they find out what is causing this. I can see farmers selling the second spot. lol

While I've never made an exhaustive study of it, I have noticed my drops change as my team position shifted, and suspected that team position was part of the RNG seed that determines who gets any given drop. I'd generally written it off as "random drops are random," but this does offer a bit more evidence that this might not be completely true.

I daresay this could have something to do with why folks reported their sidekicks getting disproportionate drops for a while - not because they were sidekicked, but because being sidekicked forced them into position 2 behind the main account.

PMing Synapse with this info now...

EDIT: Synapse is having pohsyb look into it. He mentioned that he couldn't reproduce the behavior. There may be something more complex going on than just the team position - maybe the specifics of these particular characters matter somehow.

I'm full of baseless speculation absent any knowledge of the code base. For instance, I've also considered the possibility that part of the seed value for the drop RNG is derived from the character's name, in addition to the position in the lineup. For this idea, I have ABSOLUTELY no data, anecdotal or otherwise. It's just one of those things that I've wondered about, given pseudo-random streakiness in observations since the drop system was implemented.

Which sounds very similiar to the "all my purples are going to my SK while I farm" bug back in early 2008.

The beginning of this thread had me smacking my head at the apparent blinding lack of reasoning ability and capacity for game understanding, while arbitrarily dismissing data without a moments glimmer of thought to the 'whys'. Pages after that first page show a lot more 'thought capable players' who aren't about to ignorantly dismiss data without trying to work through reasoning . Refreshing.

The more I think about it, the more I think this was a random quirk. I haven't been able to reproduce it since the original case. For the inf earnings, I knew mine were more in line with what should have been earned 3.5k/lt while his were about half 1.75k.

However, I was also doing one other thing: mapping a map for 8 and running it with less on the team. It is entirely possible that this was the real issue with my situation - I got increased earnings per kill due to the smaller team size, yet my teammate was not treated the same way. The more I think about it, the more likely this seems to be the case for mine. I also think that my problem and the OP's problem are completely unrelated, unless the OP is also boxing and mapping for 8.

I wish I had logged the information. I will most certainly do so if I run across it again.

Question to everyone who sees these discrepancies frequently:

Are the characters who get extra getting more ticket drops, or more tickets per drop?

GQ ... I'd have to capture the logs and take a look-see.
I can't even really give you an "IIRC..." right now.

All that I've done to-date is to write down the tickets on-hand before and after an AE run...the source of that data is the salvage window.

If I can remember, I'll record and analyze the logs of my runs for the upcoming weekend.

If you can record the character names and times, it's possible the devs could datamine the rest.

I don't know whether pohsyb has "easy" access to the data but in theory it's stored on their servers somewhere if he has the time to look for it.

An additional update ... a different DUO I am playing is not seeing this for team position #2. It seems to be only my Fire Dom trio's #2 team slot.

As to the question about more drop frequency, vs same number but greater values, I dont know. If I get my trio out again this weekend, I'll check. I've been doing my duo since I've been re-watching all the Harry Potter movies on the 3rd computer (iMac).

Question: is the character getting more tickets lower level?

Just thopught of another question: In your group; are some PCs in SG mode while others are not? (Just trying to see if SG status may play a part).

NOT BAD! Just 'cause it's 'not supposed to...' does Not mean 'it wont'

It seems like all the anecdotes so far involve people logged in from the same IP address.

That's an unfortunate bug to the least...and good job everyone at analysing it too. I just want to add, maybe take in consideration who is the actual mission holder/star holder in relation to the elusive team spot earning more.

I know someone asked about character AE badges, particularly the Day Job badge, but....

Do any of the accounts have account wide AE badges? It could be that one of these has an "unintended feature" which boosts the drop rate.

I base this on the fact that someone said they have seen this happen with any character on his wife's account.
