Some characters get 3x the tickets others get?
random drops are random?
No, this is consistent. Over the last 7 maps, one character is getting 3x the tickets, every time. This way dwarf any minor variations.

You do realize computerized random number generators aren't really random right? When you start your client it picks up a 'seed' (base number) and then calculates a mathematical progression pattern that appears random; BUT iof you were to get the exact same 'seed' again, you see the exact same 'rolls' on screen.
One of yoyur clients probably has a seed that generates a really low number pattern. Kill that client instance, than restart and re-log into the game, and see it the trend on that character continues. I'd bet it will not.

Yes I am aware. I have tried this twice now and no change. So, I've run 9 missions and one guy is getting approximately 3x every time. Weird.

also the lower toons will get tickets faster then higher lv ones. this has been confirmed as my friend and i tried it. one of us on a low toon the other on a higher toon. then switched to confirm.
Well currently, my HIGHER level character is getting 3 times as many tickets as my lower level ones. The level difference is only 1 between them though. I think this must be a bug. I'll bug it tomorrow, but I've done 15 AE maps in a row and every time (even with client restarts) this one guy is getting 3x the tickets. Freaky.

it's not a bug. no matter how much you want it to be it isn't. and anyways who cares. the ticket cap is 1500 per mission so at the end all your toons will have 1500 tickets per mission.
I care. On one of the duos my husband and I run, it seems that he always gets about twice as many tickets as me. We are the exact same level most of the time. If this isn't just a quirk of the RNG, it's a problem, and needs to be fixed. Oh, and we're not getting anywhere near the ticket cap, so yeah, it actually matters to me if I'm getting ripped off for tickets.
Question: Is the character who gets more tickets the one who initially aggros the mobs? My husband is a brute and I am a corruptor, so maybe that has something to do with it? I refuse to believe that some characters are just flagged for "get more tickets."

no character is flagged to get more tickets. the cap for any mission is 1500 so unless you are not finishing the mission or inviting people after you have set the mission then you should both end up with 1500 tickets.
Believe it or not Quint there are missions that aren't farms. It's quite possible to complete every part of a mission and not come anywhere close to the ticket cap.

The point being made is that the characters in question AREN'T hitting the cap in the missions (either the maps are too small or they are just completing them early.)
I have seen the exact same thing on my wife's account and mine when they are run together. The character on her account (no matter which character it is) always receives 50% more tickets than the one on my account.
This is obvious in that at the point where she caps at 1500, my character is always still at the 900-1000 range on the mission.
Its very annoying.
First of all, even if we were getting anywhere near the ticket cap, the fact that it would take one of us twice as long to get there is a problem.

Have any of you looked to see if the characters getting more tickets have the Architect day jobs, while the ones that are getting less don't?
Just a thought, trying to apply Occam's razor.

One: The AE Day Job only gives extra bonus tickets upon mission completed so this wouldn't effect what I am seeing where her account hits the ticket cap long before mine does while the mission is still running.
Two: I have seen the same thing happen no matter what character is logged in on her account and in the mission with me. Including characters who had never been near the AE building before.
Three: In some cases the character on my account did have the AE day job running while the character on her account did not. Her character still acquired tickets roughly 50% faster than mine did.
Something weird is going on with their system. I'm just afraid that if they try to fix it they'll just break the ticket rewards altogether.
they will fix it like they fixed pvp recipee drops. everyone will get tickets like normal on freedom but on smaller servers you only get a 5 chance at a chance for a ticket.

I do not believe so. My 2 follower characters do have Char on auto, so it is remotely possible that he is the one aggroing every time, but only remotely.
Otherwise, I have no AE day job stuff on any of the characters. Also, I never hit the cap on any of my guys. 2 of my characters get about 450 or so per map, but the one gets about 1400-1450 each mission.
It is weird. Well, it is somewhat comforting to know I'm not the only one. I'm going to pretend that one of my characters is getting an accidental bonus of 3x, because the only other way to think of it is that 2 of my characters are getting a 1/3 penalty.

Out of curiosity, have ALL of the characters run through the AE tutorial?
Just looking for something else in common.
Also, are you using three computers for this, two computers with one running two accounts, or one computer running all three accounts?
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
Black Pebble is my new hero.
None have done the AE mission. All are different accounts on different computers.

Ok. Well, we eliminated two items from consideration at least.

I've got to suggest taking this to the bug forums, just look at the "answers" being given here, crikey...
If it helps any, I see this behavior with my wife's account and drops as well. It was severely pronounced on one toon in particular. She actually ended up making a bind giggling about how she was, "Picking your pockets again!"

All,
I am 3-boxing (running all 3 of my accounts) on some AE maps, and I'm getting a large discrepancy in the number of tickets each of my characters is getting. Two of my characters are getting about 300-400 tickets for some of the missions, but one of my charactes is getting 900-1200 tickets on the same mission.
The characters are all roughly in the same level range (35-37) while I've been observing this. The team leader character is one of the 2 lower level ones, and they character getting 3x the tickets is the high level guy.
None of them are in SG mode. All of them are doing about the same damage (3 fire dominators).
What gives? Does anyone know why this is happening? I'm still capped at 1500 (my 3x guy has hit the cap once or twice in a mission) but its sorta irritating. I'm not sure if he is getting too much or if the others are getting too little.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Lewis

I 3box as well and have noticed ticket discrepancies (in my favor) since the cap was implemented.

You have no idea what characters are flagged for what. It very well may be a problem. Reward calculations are complicated stuff. there is always the possibility that a bug has appeared, just like any other part of the game. /bug it and hopefully we will find if it is a problem.

There was a famous aggro problem in one of the EQs that had to do with character sorting, which was based on invisible ID tags. Some characters got aggro more frequently than their peers because of the characteristics of their ID tags which sorted them higher on some list.
There is also the RNG bug from last year where drop results became predictable under some circumstances, and could be manipulated.
So, things like this are definitely possible. The mechanics of ticket awards actually make these things easier to analyze than other kinds of rewards, since you get aggregate data pretty quickly.
I would suggest PMing Arcanaville to help you do a mathematical analysis on your results.

QR:
Tickets aren't the only problem. I've had times where I earned twice the amount of INF per kill compared to another 50. Both are in SG mode and earning identical prestige, but my character was earning twice the amount of INF.
Some of the answers here make no sense:
1) It makes absolutely no sense that the RNG is handled by the client. This opens the game up the very serious possibility of exploits. One could patch the RNG datastream to only roll in their favor, both for drops and always hitting and always getting missed. Somehow I don't think this is true. Given how many 'bugs' exist in the RNG, I would suppose it to be server-side anyway.
2) SG Mode affecting ticket drops: It doesn't.
I've noticed another issue:
I was running a map with a few 50's, doing some inf/minute calculations (you dirty powergamer you). I reported my per-kill rate, which was double what someone else was earning. Both people were in SG mode. We both tried switching in and out, and the difference remained. Both characters were indeed 50. The AE was consistently rewarding me twice the infamy of someone else. However, I did not think to compare ticket earnings. There is something going on with AE.
