How do I get into a Hazard Zone?

Okay, so I'm on a trial account and I'm trying to get into a Hazard Zone to complete a mission, but every time I try to enter it, my character just runs into an invisible wall. I understand that one needs to have a security level high enough in order to enter the zone, but I'm pretty sure I meet the requirements. The Zone I'm trying to enter is The Hollows, which I believe requires one to be security level 5. My character is security level 8. Am I missing something...?

Sorry if this is incredibly noobish question but...I am, factually, a noob here. I've been going to the City of Heroes wikia for all other questions thus far (hence how I figured out the whole security level thing) but I couldn't find anything to explain the problem I am experiencing. Can trial account users not access zones? Do I need to be in a group?

Thanks in advance for your patience with me. ^_^;

You need to click on one of the guards to get into the zone. The clickable area is generally somewhere around their crotch for some reason.

I think the idea is you're showing them your 'credentials' to be allowed into the zone.

You have to click on the guards.

Frequently I end having to grab at their lower bodies for some reason.

And NP - welcome to the game

If you're uncomfortable grabbing ther crotches, many will let you in for a mere grope of the left armpit. But the crotch, for some reason, is a sure bet.

That might not be a grab.

They technically don't let anyone into the zone. But they don't stop anyone from kicking them in the crotch and running.

Wow. And here I thought the worst the heroes of Paragon could do is ignore crimes in progress simply because the thugs are too low leveled...and not worth their time.

Also, turns out tummy pats work on the guards too. When I clicked, it was definitely closer to the stomach area. Either way, they've got some perverted guards workin' the Zone entrances. >_>

Er, thanks again for the help, all. I kind of figured it was something ridiculously simple. ^_^;

Have you seen some of the catgirls we got workin' in this city? There's no way the guards can stand up to that volume of seduction.

Our community is generally a helpful bunch to newbs if they are willing to ask questions and learn. Welcome to our game - hope you enjoy your stay.

I figure those guards, even if they are taking advantage of our law-abiding supers, are at least semi-effective in their job. Unlike those Vanguard Security Officers. They keep asking me to step over to them so they can check my clearance - but I can just breeze right by them and they don't even TRY to stop me. I really don't see what's keeping all the lower-leveled characters out of the RWZ... or villains for that matter. "Step over here, Lord Nemesis. I need to check your clearance. Or... Just go right on through - not like I'm going to stop you."

I just want to clarify for you - don't use the Wikia version of Paragonwiki - that is not being updated and in fact has been taken over by goldfarmers, I hear.

Use the ParagonWiki located on the CoHTitan website for updated correct (mostly, it is a wiki, after all) answers.

You can usually click on the guards' shield, too. Much less intimate.

Well, this is TopDoc we're talking about. TopDoc would respec to gain 3 points of damage per day. - Arcanaville

Welcome to Paragon! It's good to hear that you're doing contact missions and learning your way around. FYI, you wouldn't have been instructed to visit a given zone unless you were capable of entering, so just click on the guards (as others have said here).

Depends on the angle - I usually have to turn off fly to be able to click them too.

The Hollows missions arc is interesting, and fun, but is optional.

It's easy to outlevel interesting content, so I'm going to tell you about 2 things.

First, as a menu option, you can turn off xp gain. Really. This was a requested feature from players.

Second, you can get jet pack temporary power by completing a Safeguard mission in King's Row. You'll get the right mission "Protect Atlas Park bank" or something if you are level 9 or less.

If you are level 10, and take a Safeguard mission, it might be "Protect King's Row Bank" which means you'll get the zero-g jumping pack temporary travel power reward instead. Still useful in getting around!

But they are checking your clearance. See, every Vanguard security guard has the Radiation Blast powerset.

X-Ray Beam, see? By the time you walk past 'em, they've already peeked inside your wallet, seen your ID...

And, well, if you thought the hazard zone guards are perverts, well, the Vanguard guys also know your...uh...secret identity.

They've, um, seen beneath the mask.

Yeah.
