Lady Jane?
I have so few characters with stealth that I've never been able to try that method.
I try to pull her all the way back to the entrance after her rescue. That way I know exactly when and how the ambushes will approach me. The other trick is to make sure Jane is behind me before the ambushes arrive. That way she is more likely to survive and play support to my actions instead of the other way around.
That and doing it as early as possible usually do it for me.
The rest of the mission can be a problem if she chases something (including ghosts invisible to you) into another mob but if you can get her anywhere close to the chest the mission seems to complete regardless of what happens to her during her final monologue.

Either way she is still the worst npc in the game to ever have as a hostage/ally.

Fusionette is worse, with her tendency to try and solo Chief Soldiers in a completely different group from the one you're attacking.
The most powerful ally I've encountered so far is Arbiter Sands in Faultline, who gave the impression he could have finished the mission himself, but even he couldn't keep Fusionette alive...
On the "stealth" idea... there are alternatives if you don't have a stealth power:
--start with the spawns right AFTER Lady J., and fight your way to the chest, then come back and get her.
--if you have an uninterruptible self-healing power that doesn't require a target, just put that on auto and just take the hits as you look for the chests, stopping to heal for a few seconds in a "safe spot", then clear the way back to LJ.
--pop Eye of the Magus/Demonic Accolades if you have them, or pop a stack of purple inspirations, find the chest, and clear the way back to LJ.

You've never done the Mender Lazarus TF, clearly. Last week we teamwiped and Nosferatu and friends finished the last mission for us.

The easiest way I have found by far to keep her alive is to solo this mission. The one time I didn't manage to keep her alive solo was the one time I screwed up and got myself whacked. I'm like 0 for 20 when doing this with a team.
Back when Midnight Hour first debuted, Lady Jane's AI was extremely aggressive--- she would run down hallways to attack groups that had not been aggroed by anyone, leaving groups already in combat to do so!
But someone noted that NPC AI calls for the NPC to attack non-slept, non-stunned, non-held enemies FIRST. The idea is that attacking a slept enemy awakens them, and also to deal with "active" threats first. Further, being slept, stunned or held lowers the "threat level," so aggro may shift elsewhere. So when I would hold or stun a group, Lady Jane followed this rule and ran down the hall to find the next NPC she could attack. So bear that in mind as well. She could go chasing again, although if I recall correctly, her aggro ranged was reduced.
For the first dozen or so of my heroes, I finally got to where it was easier to just free Lady Jane and run off to a safe place while she LEEEEEEEROY JENKINNNNNNNSed every available baddie and got offed. Less stress for me, at least. Even if the mission fails (because Lady Jane gets zonked), you still get the salvage.
But this mission CAN be completed conventionally now if you take care on how you go about it. Clearing the path to the chest PRIOR to freeing Lady Jane will usually work, as many have described in more detail.
"How do you know you are on the side of good?" a Paragon citizen asked him. "How can we even know what is 'good'?"
"The Most High has spoken, even with His own blood," Melancton replied. "Surely we know."

I didn't recall seeing more than one pistol on Maelstrom in the video. Just rewatched it, and that's all you ever see is one.

Apparently, I play "City of Shakespeare"
*Arc #95278-Gathering the Four Winds -3 step arc; challenging - 5 Ratings/3 Stars (still working out the kinks)
*Arc #177826-Lights, Camera, Scream! - 3 step arc, camp horror; try out in 1st person POV - 35 Ratings/4 Stars
To do the Lady Jane mission stealth around her and clear to the objective, then go free her and take her straight to the objective. It is super easy this way, and there is not one ambush.

It may not have.
Regardless, it's now Official™.

Lady Jane and any escort NPC (Lady Grey,Fusionette, etc) are affected by leadership toggles. If you are running Tactics they can see quite far and will run off to aggro new mobs. You can test this by having Tactics off and rescuing her, then after she does her monologue turn on Tactics and she will run off to the nearest mob.

This. The easiest way to manage Lady Jane is to solo the mission. I've never had her killed or been killed by her while solo - not even on the squishiest of ATs, pre-20. The one time I have failed the Lady Jane mission was on a team.

You've been luckier than I. The first time I did the Lazarus TF Nosferatu and Burckholder's main contribution to the final fight was to aggro Requiem and co. while I was still trying to get in position to thin out the rank and file.
They did at least manage to defeat Requiem for me, but that was all.
I have found a simple way to finish this mission and it seems to work on every character I try. You do need some inspirations or a stealth power or a mez resist to do it... that's about all.
Run right past all the CoT all the way to the chest, then clear the path back to Lady Jane. Then lead her to the chest. Mission will complete. You will probably never even see the ambushes.
There's 2 different spots the chest can be in, so you might have to run past CoT twice. You can fight your way back as long as you run past the group that has Lady Jane, if that's easier. On squishies without stealth powers, I just use a purple or breakfree or both when running past her captors.
Also, Romeo was a Montague and Juliet was a Capulet, not the other way around.
