So what happend to the market?
AE. There are no salvage or recipe drops when running most AE missions, only tickets. And since recipes are the "big money" items, peopl are burning their AE tickets on recipes, not salvage. The result is that salvage supply went down. Right after I14, salvage prices REALLY spiked, they've come down a bit withint he last 2 weeks or so. What you see now is tame compared to what it was.

Just wanted to throw out: Wait till after 2XP Weekend! Nothing wreaks havoc like it outside of the release of AE.
You have to choose, intentionally, to get yellow salvage at the AE. It's something like 10x the cost (in tix) of white salvage and you have to pick them specifically.
So you can get about "1.5 of every midrange tech common" for the price of a Steel. And it's not "Some random yellow", it's a a Steel.
Basically you don't get the slow buildup you used to get.

@Boltcutter in game.
Bad for Johnny Q Idiot, good for marketeers.
Are Soul Trapped Gems really going for 21 mil each, or is someone just playing games? Either way it's pretty ridiculous.
I've noticed a strong upswing in rare salvage prices on redside in the past several days (basically since the 2xp announcement). So is that what we're doing now, salting them away for the feeding frenzy at the end of July?
Which brings me to another question: patrol xp doesn't apply to AE content. Will 2xp be shut off in AE missions as well?
I bought 2 for around 1 million on each side (dunno the exact pricing but 750k to 1m) last night.
So I'm guessing it's someone playing games

I'm hoping the devs make the double xp only available outside of AE.

That was to me! I was trying to make some lowbie 90k richer...since thats what my characters usually put up in the low levels, I figured I'd make someone else surprised and happy.
Common salvage is easy to get out of the AE with tickets [~8 for a common roll], the 'uncommon' salvage from AE is approximately 10x the ticket price of a common and more than the bronze recipies [~80ish].
With all the flipping and market manipulation kicking into high gear in prep for 2x xp weekend, and in fact over the past few months, it's better to get salvage from the AE via tickets than to buy it off the market if you want something specific in a reasonable period of time.

I'm in full agreement. I think that would be a smart move.

And I disagree
Im still here playing after this long because I can level em up fast, IO em out and play them. The faster I can do that, the more I play

Well, it was one of my lowbie alts and it made me happy, so mission accomplished. =D

Way ridiculous. I was slotting a bunch of sets over the past couple days and needed 3 Soul Trapped Gems. I had thought I needed two and bought them in advance at good prices. When I started crafting, I found I needed another one and paid to have it NOW. It cost me 720,000.

No one knows. Our only 'evidence' with which to speculate is that, as you pointed out, Patrol XP doesn't count. If I had to guess, I would expect double XP to *NOT* apply in AE. But since this is only a twice-yearly event, the devs might let it apply.
This creates new uncertainty for the market. If double XP doesn't apply in AE, we will see a mass exodus to the regular content and this may drive salvage prices DOWN.

But all prior 2XPs were pre-MA and nothing ever went down then did it?
total kick to the gut
This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.
You dont use patrol xp in missions because you aren't doing patrol work. The xp is given because you logged off 'patrolling teh city for crime' so when you are back on duty you get rewarded.
You can use up all your patrol xp in the AE however. Being defeated uses patrol xp in the debt removal process

True, but we currently appear to be at inflated price levels due to MA, so the circumstances of previous double-XP weekends are dissimilar.

Actually, prices take amazing short-term dives during the weekend as people dump their stuff for 1 and run back out to hit more badguys.
Then they bounce back much, much higher.

The idea is that the MA is causing an effect similar to double experience weekends for the same reasons, in that people are rapidly gaining experience without an equivalent contribution to salvage and recipie availability at wentworths. If the effect MA has had on salvage is worse than double-experience in other content, then salvage prices would go down. I don't think the MA has had the same effect on recipies, though.
Uncommon 40-50 salvage will likely go down in price if the MA is excluded from double-experience. That seems obvious.
AE is the reason i'm still farming in PI. No, im not becoming a billionaire, but making NICE inf selling all my salvage from BP and Demons. Thorn Trees running round 200k per and i get several per run. Not to mention the Purps i been getting. Maybe since noones farmin in PI, my drop rate is going up.
After a year I noticed a few changes:
1) Yellow pieces of salvage can go upward to one million infamy (Villain side). As of one year ago, they were worthless.
2) A lot of common salvage goes for 500k+. Ironically, the things that used to be expensive a year ago (Which only fell between 20-50k for common salvage), such as Ancient Bones, are now fairly cheap.
So what change was made that suddenly yellow salvage became valuable? Its a good one but I was curious what happend.
