Oh and Smurch, there are some media outlets that fall down in terms of their legitimacy, but there are many that do due diligence to a fault.

.. and yes ... I do know that for a fact.

Maybe there are, but none of the majors fall into that.

I was... tangentially... involved in a media hoax about six years ago. Without providing a single shred of evidence, the media happily ran a false story on all major news outlets from CNN to Fox. Even Reuters picked it up. Not one reporter asked any tough questions (and the entire thing would have fallen apart if they had). They swallowed everything they were spoonfed.

Of course it came out as a hoax three days later, but it still happened and while I wasn't actively involved, I did get to observe it from the sidelines. It's forever changed my view on how media operates.

I also had seen about ten years prior both how the government censors the media AND how the media makes up sensational "facts" out of whole cloth. At the same time.

I realize that I'm a little late to the party, but, in regards to the "alphabet soup" following and underneath the name (David M. Myers), I'm not sure that the reference to so and so SJ/ etc, actually applies to Professor Myers. I'm wondering if that isn't the name/title of a "Chair" which he holds. In other words, the name/title of his position. I could be completely off base and talking through my proverbial hat but it doesn't make a great deal of sense to me that we appear to have two separate personal names referring to one person.

You are probably right ... I was slogging my way through the thread in consecutive order and didn't stop to check the date of the last posting. Heh, my, not bad, exactly, but certainly my oversight ... especially since EarthWyrm a page or two past the post to which I responded, supplied precisely the same answer with pertinent information that I had posited.

Fair enough, so whose place is it? All I know about Myers/Twixt is what I read via Google - but I've already noticed in several places that Myers claims the failure of GM's to censure his behavior ought to be read as you guys condoning it: True/not true?

What do the devs think of Myers/Twixt - applaud his actions? condone his actions? condemn his actions? Option D?

Is he right when he says that we're no longer protected nor bound by #1 of the Rules of Conduct whenever we're in a pvp zone? If so, presumably we're also not bound by any of the other Rules of conduct when in pvp - or is it just rule #1 that gets this treatment?

If you're asking the devs, you'd be best off actually pming one of them the question. The likelyhood is that they wont' be seeing this. *particularly* after a rollback on the servers fixing a fix...

I think the general player concensus was that "no" it was not acceptable just because it wasn't particularly stopped - but it wasn't going to get him taken from the game since it wasn't so focused that it could be considered actually griefing. Whether the devs agree or not, I don't think they're really going to say outright - they run the risk of *really* alienating portions of the player base in any direction. They cannot win answering this.

Thanks for the advice - I'll give that a try...
