Why is my name always green?

Okay so i have made a bunch of guys name "Mr. [random name in phone book]" to make naming my guy very very easy. One thing i have noticed is that all my guys who have "Mr. " in front of there name always have a green name like this, or something around this color. Now I am wondering if all "Mr. " have a green name so any one with a toon named Mr. [somthing] have a green name?

I can't remember where it was or who posted it, but someone posted a rundown on the color hex and how it was assigned on one of the topics somewhere.

It was most probably Mateo since he seems to be the most savvy on the forums about this sort of thing.

go into your options menu and under the general tab go to chat window and at the bottom of that window you want to disable the individual name colors.

Yeah it's a kind of math thing that gets applied and adjusted.

I got lucky because my global gives me matrix green. I like matrix green

[/ QUOTE ] I'd love to get credit for something like this, and you're right... it does sound like something I'd spend the time trying to figure out.. but NO.. wasn't me. lol I think it was a Dev actually.

If I had to guess.. I'd say it could be the period in the name that maybe stops the client from processing it any further?

I'd have to test it of course, but I'd guess it's only the "Mr" that is getting processed on each name, making them all identical colors.

Edit: well I tested..
Mr. test this code (sky blue)
Mr. here is another (olive green)

As another test, I tried to replicate your name formatting and length:
Mr. Harvey (Purple)

So I don't know how you are formatting your other names exactly, but it's not doing the same thing for me.
Do your other characters all have the same length name?
Is there anything else similar about them?

That would be pohsyb himself who said he used a Burtle hash to convert the characters in a name into a hex number to determine color. The result of the hash is massaged so that the name is not too dark.

My global name (MrQuizzles) turns out to be a sort of fuchsia, but that's perhaps because I don't have a period or space after the Mr.

[/ QUOTE ]Frustratingly, I tried to create a tool to find what color a name was going to turn out as. I talked to both pohsyb and Bob Jenkins (developer of multiple hash functions, which could all be called "burtle hash") trying to debug my code, and never did get it working right

I've re-read this topic twice to make sure I didn't miss something but still, I have no clue what you guys are talking about.

Your names are a different color? Where? My characters names, all of them, have always been the same exact color.

I'm confused.

There's an option to turn on individual name colors under the options menu. I'm sure someone else will tell you exactly where it is.

Oh ok. No need. I wasn't aware that such an option existed, shouldn't be too complicated to find

In one of my threads, Eek_a_mouse provided some reference links about the Burtle Hash if anyone wants to check them out. I was hoping to find an app that could predict the colour a name would get but no luck so far.
