Server Stability Issue?
Honestly the stability issue you are referring to sounds more like a server overload problem. Freedom has always been very high pop compared to the other servers. I play on Liberty and haven't seen the issues you are describing at all. (Other than the chat bug of course, which is annoying as all get out.)

Not trying to be mean or bash Freedom -
But if you keep crashing on that server, why haven't you made some alts on another server? I haven't seen any crashes recently - but I purposely avoid Freedom and don't have a single character on that server.
Is this a server issue (i.e., everyone on Freedom is experiencing such crashes) or is it your rig? I know that a while back I was having some lag and slow load issues that were solved by adding video memory. Until I did that, I had to avoid high-lag areas (like under Atlas).
As for the chat bug - annoying, but now that I know to expect it, I semi-automatically compensate for it by looking for it to happen as I chat and clearing accordingly.

I used to play on Protector but moved to Freedom due to lack of finding a group and I dont like playing alts. I like to experience the game through one toons eyes, doing everything that the game has to offer from badges to TFs to PVP, so I chose to move to a server with more population.
Currently running 2G Ram and a 256 Vid card. So Im pretty sure there are no issues with the rig, course theres always the flip side of the coin of something I DONT know is wrong with the rig, after all it is a few years old, altho Ive been upgrading parts here and there, Im not a master computer tech by no means.
Zoning time has always been the same, its just the crashing Im having a problem with in highly populated areas. It isnt only me either.. other players on teams Ive been on are experiencing the same issues. Also sometimes you have no choice but to go into the highly populated areas for missions, etc.
If its server overload, I'd be more than happy to stay off the game for a day (Im sure others would as well) just so they can fix what they need to fix to keep it running smoothly and avoid more complaints like this one.
Well, it might be worth a quick post up in the Tech Issues forum to see if there is something they can point out as a fix. My hardware knowledge is pretty limited so I can't tell you if you have a problem with memory or not.

I play exclusively on Freedom and haven't been having any issues. I know of quite a few others that also haven't been having any issues.
But, I also know that there are many who are experiencing issues.
Geographical problem maybe? I don't know. My knowledge of computer stuff is pretty limited to change the oil and rotate the tires type stuff.
Immediately after a new release is always shaky on server stability. Give it a week or so and a few more patches and it should be fine- It's normal for any big patch like an issue to take a bit to stabilize.

I was having a lot of these same issues not long ago... when was that strange emergency server shutdown? My problems went away after that.
I've been getting lag on and off on several servers...and this was before Issue 15 hit.
Its not consistent...but there will be sudden stuttering and/or rubberbanding. Very brief most times...but noticeable enough if you are paying attention.
It didn't start with issue 14...it seems to have developed somewhere in between...so I'm leaning toward it being a server/routing issue of some sort.
I posted about this on the Infinity server section...but then realized I was getting it on other servers as well. So far I've seen it on Victory, Justice, Infinity and Liberty too.
Some others were with me when I was experiencing the worst of it a week or so ago on Infinity.
I duno...maybe its the fact that we're constantly adding things to the game and not upgrading the servers enough. In any case...I did /bug what I was experiencing...not sure if it's getting looked at. Maybe it requires some backend server work.

[/ QUOTE ]Happening on both east and west coast servers makes me think it's an issue on your side of the pipe. If it was server side, everyone should be seeing it. If the issue was near the servers but upstream, it should only impact one coast at most.

Yeah but my other current online games: L4D, TF2 are playing just fine.
Maybe I'm just cursed by the lag demons of COX.

[/ QUOTE ]You don't know what route they take to get to their servers. That's not evidence it's a server side issue. One part of your ISP's network (or even one upstream) might be experiencing issues, which just happens to be on the route to both coasts' servers.

Whenever they have an issue on test they devote some resources to it and server stability for the rest of the game takes a hit. It's noticeable for me. When the beta is over the playability improves again (barring nasty bugs).

I think its great they the Devs are coming up with all sorts of new expansions, Booster packs, costume pieces, TFs/SFs, AE fixes, etc.. Thats whats keeping me shelling out my $$ every month, but its all FLUFF compared to playabilty. What about the issues concerning the server status??
Freedom is constantly crashing and the lag in the game is pretty much unbearable in certain areas that its causing players to crash n' burn. Players are still crashing when zoning into missions or from zone to zone.. heck, I joined a AE team last night while I was sitting under Atlas Globe.. didnt even make it to the AE building before I crashed. I dont understand why they had to put AE in EVERY single zone.. especially Atlas.. Between new players logging in, AE running constantly, Wentworth customers, NPC interaction, Costume Contests, its pulling the zone down hardcore. Sure some may not be experiencing this due to their UBER rigs, but alot of people (like me) are using a 3-5 year old rig, or the same rig that they started playing CoX with.
Just curious if this issue will be likely be fixed before I16 hits, but in that aspect I had hoped it would've been fixed before I15 hit live servers.. good thing I didnt bet any money on this one.. would've lost big time.
And to top this off with a cherry, theres still the Chat bug when putting in your prices for WW and you end up with a buncha numbers when you send someone a messege... what about that? this was happening BEFORE I15 hit.. Definately thought this would have been fixed or set up as a priority fix in I15...

If you're still experiencing map crashes after yesterday's patch (19.20090619.5T2), please let us know.
even i see it once in a while on a dead server like guardian. its def gotten worse since the newest issue. i want to move to a populated server but the lag issues and not being able to get on a server stops me. and i run a really nice rig too.
40 50s so far.
if you dont like me....i dont really care.
respect is earned , never given
So far so good.. Was able to play for a solid 4 hours with nothing so much as hiccup other than some lag.. but thats normal for any MMO. Im just happy I'm not crashing left and right. Thanks Devs for looking into this crashing issue. Now if we can just get that chat bug fixed... *hint hint* Again keep up the hard work!

Really dont see how it could be an over load problem.. when the server reaches a certain # of players it locks out the server and you cant join till some players either log off or in some aspects crash. all in all imo its a good way to keep a server running constantly w/o having to worry about overpopulation and having random server crashes.
