Thoughts of I15?

This must be a pretty light release since there isn't a thread filled with opinions on it yet for us

Haven't done the TFs yet but the impression I've gleamed from word of mouth for either, since beta, doesn't have me chomping at the bit for them that much.

Probably won't check out the Dom changes on my one Dom but will save it for a new Dom in the near future after my current hero character. Will like to see how the slight Crab changes will play out, but that's pretty minor.

Badges that I really have no interest in getting *sigh* The loss of badges for MA stuff is meh. If they would just learn to not go so extreme in the first place.......

MA changes seem nice so far, though I kept getting mapserved while editing. Will have to see how the changes really play out if I make a new one from scratch. The two I have currently take up quite a bit less room than previously, and it's going to allow me to add to both stuff I've been wanting to do for awhile now. Now to just find the time to do that. Still don't like that I can't alter the first two attack powers, but the more-or-less customization of power selection has allowed me to tweak the characters closer to what I really want.

I16 doesn't have the feel of being chock full of stuff that I'm all that interested in either. Same with Rogue stuff. Will have to wait and see for sure I guess.

How can Going Rogue not interest you? It's another City's worth of content! If I16 only has customization in it, then I agree with you that it's not going to be that interesting.

I'm going to try to check out at least one of the I15 TFs tonight.

Would like to hear too!

Yesterday was quite hectic and couldn't get any play time in. Just logged on one toon for the patch and to see what badges were gone from MA. Surprised I got certain badges also (thx MP and Masque for those Monday Night Fights! - which I had to miss last night ).

Just because of my personality, I would like to see the 2 new TFs since they are new. Hopefully people will still be running them later this week when I get a chance to sign up for them.
Still need to check the dom changes since I have one at 41 and is my current project.
And will finally get back to reviewing some arcs since reading about the upcoming changes and deciding to wait before reviewing.

I16 and Rogue are too early for me to judge.

Because it's going to further stretch out the playerbase IMO. They are going to have to continue adding to the expansion at the cost of adding (as much or anything) to the hero/villain sides IMO.

Regardless, the idea of side-switching has never meant anything to me. New powersets? Great. New ATs would be better IMO.

Thoughts on i15...hmm well my experience so far is this:

Lots of "Lost connection to Mapserver"

New Villy SF is fun and pretty difficult. Make sure to bring debuffs and lots of them. We ran it with a stoner, 2 therm corr, /cold corr, /kin corr, mind/psi dom, widow, and cant remember last, but it was another corr. we got to Reichsman, lost a player. Got him down to 1/2 or less health several times and then he would go intangible and hit a 22,600 heal. yes his HPs are something like 226,000. Anyway, we did not finish as we had lost another player (/kin) so we decided to nixx it and try again at a later date.

Further more, some of the PvP changes seem a lil useless, but w/e.

Badges has never really been a concern to me..lol

The new costumes and charachter creation options ar epretty neat.

All in all, i would have to say it is not too bad. hopefully there will be a fix for the numerous dc's while editing in AE.

I don't see this as much of an issue, because both Heroes and Villains will have access to Praetorian content. True, we might see less content in Paragon City and the Rogue Isles, but as long as there is new content somewhere that my characters have access to I have no problem with that.

I experimented with the MA and Dom changes on Test so I like those. SF sounds interesting but I'm too low to participate. TF sounds...off. Vines is an underwhelming pattern but I know I can put it to use. Likewise, I'll stick a few of the new faces in an arc for the heck of it. I like Ulterior.

Not as impressed as I was hoping to be. Did some costume changes, (I live for the costumes, in case you haven't heard! ), and will get more into the game play today. So time will tell. But I'm not holding my breath.

Yeah, there are videos around if you want to see them... they explode repeatedly for about a minute, so a group of them send out loads and loads of their parts as they explode. Just in time for the 4th, too!

Do we know Going Rogue is only going to have content there? It sounds like they're going to be giving additional options to 50s, and I thought that was with the Going Rogue stuff, too. Hard to say how they're going to set it up with how little info we have. I would hope it's mostly like a new zone, so sides can cross to existing stuff easily as well, and not be cut off as Voo is suggesting. Of course, it might not be that way.

Heroside, make sure you have a bunch of damage for all of Reichsman's HPs (egads). Sounds like defense and -to hit can be nice as well, so Reichs can't clobber the tank with that 100 mag stun of his. I'm not that keen on this TF, since Reichs just sounds like a big sack of hitpoints, rather than a somewhat interesting challenge. I was hoping for another LGTF or ITF, but this doesn't sound like it.

i15 is meh. Nothing new really. I don't run a lot of Shard TFs, but simply making that a co-op zone would be a better expansion than bland 15. From this point forward it is b15.

Well, it's more of a mini-issue. That's how it was billed, and it's okay for that. I like having more costume and costume change options, and the TF/SF is at least okay. Not as good as I would have liked, but it's okay.

I know I'll sound greedy for saying this, but hopefully I16 will come out in a fairly quick interval, and the devs don't choose to do a mini-issue again... people tend to equate to other issues, rather than hearing the mini part, heh. (and I would be one of them, I have to remind myself that it's mini every so often)

Yar, I hope I16 has a fair bit more. The last few issues have been kinda mini-issues, IMO. But I never really got into the MA, so YMMV.

Think of Praetoria (the GR area) as Paragon City or the Rogue Isles, except that both sides can access it. In a recent interview, Posi confirmed that GR will have multiple new "zones". Since everyone can access all the new content (with the possible exception of Side Switching arcs or TFs or whatever), I don't see how anyone can not be excited about it, unless they just hate new content.

Well, if that's the case, it can segregate the populations more. Of course, if Going Rogue ups our population a bit, it may not matter. Not sure if it will be a big enough draw to bring in decent amount of numbers though (not sure what that number would be... 20k more subs?).

I dunno, might not be that big since it'll be like RWZ or Cimerora, but it is potentially a concern. In other news, WoW is saying that they might at some point (that's really what they said) have side-switching as well. It's weak and wishy-washy enough to make me think they don't have much of a plan, making me wonder if they did decided to do it because of CoX. Not an idea unique to CoX, of course, but the timing is odd. Linky.

I15 is out? Hmmmm... It's so insignificant, I hadn't even noticed. Oh well, doesn't matter really, Rogue has potential.

I am a bit miffed that there is a new City of Expansion, and Villains have received very little in the way of new zones - compared to City of Heroes.

Considering I critisized nay-sayers for prematurely complaining about Issue 15, I am REALLY disappointed with I15.

I have yet to run the new TFs, but considering they're only worth 20 merits and the short duration many players are reporting, it's not really enough to base an entire issue off of.

I'm not too thrilled with the new costumes. New faces are a nice QoL feature, but nothing to get excited over.

I was really hoping the devs were going to sneak in some more Powerset Proliferation to spice up the issue.

Mainly I'm fairly ticked off the nay sayers were basically right.

Based on dev comments and interviews, I think we can pretty much expect the disparity between villain zone and hero zones to remain the same. They are simply going to get far better mileage for their efforts by making all future zones co-op. Going Rogue will only enforce that scenario, so frankly I would extremely surprised if we ever saw a new villain zone.

The blueside task force is pleasant, has mostly clear goals (except for that second mission to defeat the invincible Reichman), and can be run quickly.

The redside task force gets the short end of the stick because of the immensity of the ambushes and the need to clear the entire map to find the AVs before Reichman will even spawn. There is a strong discrepancy between the blueside and the redside rewards. Neither of these two task forces really offer enough to base an entire issue around. As in too many of the task forces, they value debuffs too highly and put defensive sets at a disadvantage.

I think the 5th Column should have been reintroduced and restored generally. There are some old line story arcs - the Ubelmann arc in particular - that still make no sense in lore when "Council" is search and replaced for "5th Column".

I am only starting to play with the dominator I rolled when CoV debuted, and who's only recently gotten to 36, the point at which my villains have typically taken off. The new faces are nice, but so far I've only used one of them outside the AE - on my wp/dark tanker, for her "Natasha" dress.

Des and I are kindred, if only in spirit

Regarding the faces: I, uh, can't even tell honestly. I never paid *that* much to any of them, and I went through them all last night when trying to create a couple more mobs, and they all looked the same to me.

New sounds: ...... door annoyed me within about 5 seconds. Water, I guess, sounds different. I think I preferred the old better. And I didn't even notice any foot-step sounds being different *shrug*

Costume change emots : I read about them and went "meh". And I don't usually have costumes to switch to all that often, but I've found that I like em. At least the flip and the AWESOMENESS that is the evil laugh. Will have to make a popup menu for costume changes now just for those
