No.

I duo this TF in 1:15 minutes consistently. Dont take away my merit maker just because people cant seem to understand running it at lvl 10 in a full group of melee is insane.

Run it in a duo or trio of ranged/support and you too can profit from this badly designed TF!

I seriously cant make close to the merits/hour I make on this TF with anything else, but I understand the design flaws that make this a nightmare for low lvl toons it was actually designed for... but I still loves my easy merits.

so, No.

LGTF gives better merit/time ratio

With a duo?

Heh, I got you point... But, merit/time ratio has nothing to do with team size

I'm working on a list right now on "people that hate/are irritated by/annoyed by me", "neutral/indifferent people" and "people that like/tolerate me".

So far, I have:

The Irritated Gang - Nethergoat, Bad_Influence, Angry_Citizen, Dumpleberry, Jetpack, Karl_Rove_Man, Quincy_Archer, bamawolfie, Sooner

The Neutrals: Laser_Judas, Zombie_Man, Fulmens, Turbo_Ski, Perfect_Pain

The Likies: Zekiran_Immortal... yeah, I think that's about it.

Am I missing anyone?

[/ QUOTE ]One more for the like column. Even the namechanging was pretty amusing.

I'm in with the Neutrals. Slightly annoyed now and then by the occasional D R A M A ! , but I like his FF Guide.

Like I tried to say during Issue 13's test, upping the reward will not get people interested in doing TFs. Making them all fun will.

[/ QUOTE ]

Which is why Katies and Speedens were incredibly popular a few issues ago but suddenly become deserted once their merits were reduced.

Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.

Most of Posi TFs I ran were on 8 man teams. All were done under 2 hours. As soon as you dealt with 2nd mission, everything else is much easier.

[/ QUOTE ]

Same here. The last few times I've done Posi with a full team it's been two hours or less. Last night I joined a four person team and it took us 1:59. I don't see why people insist on tiny teams for "speed" runs when it takes just as long as the full team action.

I should also say that while the full teams are usually made up from my sg, the toons we bring are random and we don't require any specific AT or powersets to join. Anyone who wants (any level 10+) can join, on any toon they want to bring.

Who said Katies are deserted? I level every character from 30-34 through that one. And please note, I didn't say that if you nerf the reward to nothing that won't DISCOURAGE people. Only that upping the reward of a crappy TF won't encourage folks.

I can't decide which is worse about the Posi TF, the 4 straight "Run back and forth from one Zone to another Zone and Click on a Person" Missions or the final 4 straight "Defeat All missions".

[/ QUOTE ]

For the standard PUG (which I normally join), the first one. Traveling and Zoning does more to slow down a team than most anything else. At least in the Defeat Alls, you're beating up stuff and getting XP or exemplared influence.

And I agree with other posters above (and previously in many identical threads going back through the tapestry of time...): As the first TF a new player can undertake, it will most likely leave a lasting bad impression.

Given the very large number of Doc Q's I have seen formed since the merits were upped on that one, I would have to disagree.

The silly fools! i like the idea of running the Quaterfield TF at least once on every character (it used to be very hard to do), but i will concede that i enjoy the LGTF a great deal more.

A concession to running Posi, I believe, are the purple sets which provide toxic resistance--said resistance being of little use except facing Vazhilok... and are peculiarly available only at level 50.

Besides, running the Cavern of Transcendance at level is much more painful, in my experience. At least Posi throws you a map!

... Bad eyes her newest Object of Hate: the Positron TF.

I say we take off and nuke the site from orbit - its the only way to be sure. Of course, this will involve multiple strikes on Steel, Atlas and Skyway as well, but any collateral damage is worth wiping this TF off the map - permanently.

[Yes we did finish.... gawd what an unenjoyable endurance-test. Take away my Unyielding and I become very grumpy indeed....]

[/ QUOTE ]have you done a shard task force? i know posi is bad, most of the launch ones are bad, but have you done a shard tf?

A lot of it comes from the original concept of tf's, they were designed with the pnp gamer in mind, as something for people to do over several nights in a fairly static group, well, things change, pugs and badge groups happened, and the redside and subsequent bleuside tf's start being compact, fun and concise. There are those who like the old tf's, much like some pine for the old hami raid, i personally feel the old tf's and particularly the shard tf's are about as fun as getting my male exclusive bits slammed in a car door, but hey.

[/ QUOTE ]

I actually like the shard TFs. They can be a pain in the [censored] with a PuG, but they're great with a bunch of folks that do them often or know what to expect.

I realize the irony in my statement, as that's what people say about the Positron TF but ultimately I find that it doesn't matter how small the team is or how experienced when it comes to Posi, it's never fun for me.

[/ QUOTE ]

They still could stand to have 1/3 to 1/2 of the missions removed. It would make almost no difference to the story since so many of them are redundant and cases of "sorry, but your artifact is in another cave."

Yah... there's certainly a lot of truth to this. As fun as they are (for me, anyway), a lot of them seem long just for the sake of being long, as though the developers deliberately made them as long as they possibly could, including using those story cudgels you're talking about.

Long != Epic.

Pretty much this. Plus the popularity of Katie/Cap/Eden while they were great merits/time for speed runs, plus Meow... all means that I think you could get people to play the 20-hour Click 90,000 Glowies in Oranbega TF if it gave 999 merits (over double the normal rate of 400 merits for 20 hours!). People go where the rewards are.

I'd do that TF for zero merits. Sounds AWESOME!
