Things have gotten a bit hectic lately and I no longer have the same luxury of combing through various sections here on the forums looking for bugs to fix. So I'd ask that you guys use this thread to report any issues with animations in CoH.

This could be anything from odd behavior from an NPC that's spawned in the world, an emote, or player powers. Please give us as much detail as you think we might need to replicate the bug.

If it's a player power, be sure to let us know what Archetype you're playing and any other powers that you might be using that could be contributing to the problem. Especially toggle powers, such as Flight or a Shield toggle power.

Also, it would great if you could take a quick scan through the thread and make sure that the bug hasn't already been reported. If you've got more information to add to something that's already in here, such as 'This also happens for Dominators', then feel free to add your comments. I do not need a dozen "QFT" replies, thank you very much.

I can't make any guarantees that we'll be able to fix everything in a timely manner, but having everything consolidated here, in one thread, will greatly improve the chances of that happening.

When using any female or huge character model and any power that uses a right-handed brawl animation, there is an animation glitch on the right leg as the character returns to the normal combat stance. It literally looks like a spasm in the leg.

Swipe like animation plays when toggling on defensive toggle.

AT: Stalker
Powersets: Claws/Ninjitsu

If I have my claws out and I am in the passive stance when I activate Danger Sense a swipe animation plays. Could be WAI but seems more like a bug as it animates normally without the claws, or if I'm still in the crouched stance that first drawing the claws puts you into.

I have a huge model, and I'm using the viper claws, I have not checked it with other custom claw types.

Most combat NPCs who are in a "boss spawn" i.e. a spawn with a named boss who utters dialog seem to be stuck in a shorter loop than the animation should be. This results in a very jerky animation, since it appears to be cut off mid-animation and start over. I'll update with more specific examples if I can.

Edit: First Update:

Seeing this issue on Freakshow of multiple types in a newspaper mission. They are using the punch fist emote, but the part of the cycle where they aren't actually punching seems to get stuck in a loop, and then it jumps back and forth. Make a stalker (so you can watch without aggroing) and run a newspaper mission with Freakshow and it should be visible.


Second Update:

Seems to be happening with any NPC in a mission that is standing still in the default "idle" animation (not walking, or posed with a gun, etc.). They rapidly and seemingly randomly rotate between the fist pound animation, the hoot (two cupped hands to mouth) animation and the "come fight me" (looks like a barbell with both hands) animation, sometimes without completing any of them. It's really really noticeable if you have an invisible character and just watch them for a minute.

This one will actually be fixed in an upcoming build of Issue 15

AT: Thugs/Poison MM

When using FLY.
Casting a buff - heal, Antidote.

After the animation of the buff finishes, there is a stutter as you return to the idle flight pose.

So would the RIkti Autopsy subjects in the vanguard lab in Atlas Park doing the ground pound emote be an animation bug

For the "Hand Clap" animation, at least on the Male skeleton, the hands don't actually touch. This is very noticeable when you use a power with that animation while flying, as the hands are quite some distance apart. It's less noticeable when using it on the ground, but it still happens. This is without a shield.


Issue 16 made me feel like this.

I'm not sure if there is anything you can do about this, but I'll post it anyways:

The powers Pocket D teleport, Base teleport, and Mission teleport are all getting interrupted somehow. In both animation and power execution. I will not be using anything, not even touching my mouse and the power will fail sometimes. Sometimes I can see the animations getting briefly interrupted and then quickly going back to continue the "casting teleport" animation.

Sometimes I can do this over and over in a spot and the power will get interrupted, sometimes I can the teleport again and it will work fine. It seems like moving and then casting the teleport helps. It could be that the server thinks I've moved when I have not, or that any offensive auras that are not hitting anything are causing the interruption. A fellow player has said that they must turn off their toggles to get the teleports to work sometimes.

The Rikti corpses in the Vanguard base and the little side lab at the AP Vanguard DPO aren't dead, anymore. They're doing the Vahzilok's 'loot the corpse' emote.

During the cutscene of the 3rd mission of the LRSF (Defeat Future Freedom Phalanx), Manticore "wigs out" for lack of a better term. He rapidly plays the draw arrow animation repeatedly. This only started with the arrival of i14, where I also noticed many enemies seem to "fast-forward" their idle animations (pounding fists, etc).

Almost forgot! If you one-shot an enemy, they tend not to stop doing their idle emote (which is bugged in and of itself) and just stand there until they fade out.

Will that be a fix for all of the Stalker types? My MA/SR has the same issue during his AS. He is just standing there when the hit comes. He never moves.

I believe that having someone summon or despawn an Oro portal nearby causes this.

Bug: Incorrect animation for Enervating Field.
Model: Male
AT: Defender. Rad/Rad
To create: Call up the Nemesis Staff Vet power, and target an opponent. While the staff is out, activate Enervating Field. The character will take the staff in both hands and use it to "fling" the energy at the target. The staff stays in the hands after the animation is finished.
Notes: This is a very cool animation. I wouldn't mind seeing this turn up somewhere else for us to use. Cool or not though, I think this is a bug.

When using the Revive Ally dayjob power, instead of pulling the device out and waving it over the body, my character leans over like the beginning of a nuke and repeats the motion while the device hovers in the air. May happen with Resuscitate as well (I remember something like that happening when my controller used it)

Brute with Revive Ally: Dark Melee/Invuln

Shield Taunt: the sound doesn't play when my Axe Tanker uses it. He stands there banging his axe against his shield and it's all eerily silent.

With large body types, any time you have a drawn weapon or shield or spines the model defaults to the "normal" frame animations for jumping and running.

AT: Dominator Plants/Thorns
When using the blackwand then immediate after using a thorns power that causes draw, the blackwand draw animation plays immediately after the thorns come out causing unwanted 'cannot move' time

Powerset: Thugs
Bug: Slipping feet.

When playing as a Thugs mastermind with your dual pistols drawn (attack stance) attempting to walk forward diagonally will play the normal forward animation, so it looks like you're sliding across the ground. This only affects the Huge model to my knowledge.

To replicate: Draw your dual pistols, and walk forward diagonally.

Body Type: Female

When I had Ninja Reflexes running I did not see FX for the lightning, spin, cast, or presto chango costume change emotes. (Danger Sense did not cause the suppresion of the FX however.)

Powers In Use: Hover, Aim

Bug: Hitting Aim while hovering will cause character to straddle the bow. It does not matter if the bow is drawn or not.

This will occur consistently if, following login, I Hover, then initiate Aim. It will happen through game-play, but I am still testing to find consistent steps to get it to re-occur.

When someone uses the Mystic Fortune power on my winged shield scrapper while he is flying/hovering he does the Dragon's Tail animation.

Not sure if he needs to have the shield powers toggled on or not for the glitch to trigger.

I'm also not sure if elevation is relevant. I've seen it happen several times when he was flying low to the ground waiting for the rest of the team to arrive at a mission door.
